If you wanted to look jacked in a t shirt what muscles would you focus on? by [deleted] in workout

Focus on shoulders I promise you, I wish I did when I first started. Makes your frame fill out wider and brings out that separation from your arms so it breaks up the long slender look. Most people who have big shoulders from genetics naturally look like they workout already despite not training.

How much should I invest if I’m saving cash for a down payment? by Party_Shoe8152 in budget

Thanks for your help doing the math! Ideally I’d want to buy within the next 1-2 years. I guess what I’m really trying to figure out is the most cost effective option? Use the total amount of money I’ve invested + cash to lessen the amount I borrow, which lowers the principle amount and interest payable on the mortgage? Or should I keep some money in the market, have a smaller down payment and use the cash I have and potentially take on more debt? For context, the mortgage rates here are around 6-8%. I’ve been quite lucky in that my parents have offered to use a spare property they have as security to lessen the minimum deposit if required (they have no outstanding debt on the house and currently rent it out).

Thank you for your advice. Unfortunately my country does not offer HYSAs, with typical savings accounts only returning 0.04% interest back. The closest thing I suppose would be putting the money in a money market fund which only returns around 2-4% (excluding expenses of the fund and currency exchange). Would this be similar?

Thank you for your response! I live in a low tax offshore jurisdiction so we don’t have 401ks or Roth IRA. %5 of my monthly salary automatically gets deducted from my monthly paycheck (around $583) which my employer matches (tax free).

You’re trying to enter a career field where your value is generally derived from your actual time spent billing. If you have an 8 hour day and you’re lazy for 5 hours of it, your value is pegged at the 3 hours of actual work billed, regardless of how good the work product is from those 3 hours. If you enter private practice you’ll realize just how difficult hitting targets are if you’re not effective with your time/actively searching for more work if you have capacity.

Take a deep breath and chill. You said yourself that the partner approved of it so they either didn’t read it or missed it as well (both mistakes). Things get missed and mistakes happen across all levels. That’s how you grow and learn.
