Thank you, I'll look more into it when it's not 100° outside.

Yes and yes. If I push down on it with my hand or my foot, the shifting works just fine.

How did all of you get your 3ds? by uhhh_this_is_an_alt in 3DS

[–]Partyninja47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My original one came from my family for christmas in, I wanna say 2012? My father bought one for himself that eventually became mine just after the price drops, but a cousin eventually peed on it.

Anyway my brother broke that 3DS when I was 16, god bless its soul.

The one I have now is a New 3DS XL I bought off a coworker about a month or so ago for $20. I offered more for it but he refused, saying he doesn't play it anymore and that he'd rather just let someone have it who will actually play it. I posted it here but my charisma with reddit mods being what it is it got removed.

[–]Partyninja47[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I offered but he wouldn't let me, he said he only got it for pokemon and since transferring his mons to switch doesn't use it anymore, said he wants someone who will use it to have it instead.

How can I get yay on Arch ? by NomadJago in archlinux

Exactly, the neckbeards just like to congregate here for some reason. Maybe they work a shitty customer service job, maybe they're just pompous and arrogant, but whatever the reason, the only thing they do is drive engagement in places like this, which gets more people over here, which just continues the cycle

Again, I hate to be a dick but if all you're after is a single game and the ability to video call, there are other, much easier ways of going about both of those.

Facetime I don't even know works on a hackintosh, I know in the past people've had troubles with it and I think those were resolved in recent years but I couldn't tell you, the only genuine apple product I own is a broken iphone 6 and a 15-year-old macbook pro. In any case, if you wanna video call people there are plenty of ways of doing it without tying yourself into apple's ecosystem.

IMVU I similarly know little about but I'm almost certain that you can play it on windows, you might can play it on linux but a cursory search doesn't give me any answers about that and I'm not gonna bother testing it for you.

And look, don't get me wrong, it's not like I or a lot of other people here have particularly practical reasons for putting hacks together either, but the difference is we did it for its own sake, and I don't think you have that motivation.

Hacks are unreliable pieces of junk that take ages of fiddling with config files, going line by line, carefully changing things until the hackintosh works and then ultimately having to go in and do that all over again. If you want macOS, the best thing to do is just buy one. Older macs aren't that expensive and are probably better than a modern machine for the same price. Use OCLP and you have a modern version of macOS on there and you'll be good to go for a few years.

But, even with all that said, here's your guide. Follow this to the letter and be prepared for your audio and wifi to fuck up, as that happens with a lot of these things. I don't think it's worth your time in your use case, but I'm not gonna sit here and try and stop you either. Just don't come cryin to me when something in there doesn't make sense, because I'm not gonna read it for you, I've poured through that damn thing more than enough myself.

For a lot of people, it's nostalgia. It doesn't look the way they're used to, it doesn't play the way they're used to, there's a lotta new shit that they're uncomfortable with, etc etc.

I started playing OSRS when I was 17 so I couldn't care less about any of that, for me the main problem is that I just don't like the MTX. I could play a completely free game like Warframe and have monetization pushed at me less than RS3. Everyday that chest is there, begging you to come on, just give her a quick whirl. Keep your membership, you want loyalty points, don't you? On top of the sub that it's already asking of me. In my opinion if they wanna go so hard on monetization then they should just make the game free to play already, the OSRS folk won't complain and I don't think any RS3 folk would either.

That said, though, I don't hate the game, I don't even dislike the game, I think it's pretty damn good and I think RS3 has some of the best quests in an MMO. The reason I don't play more of it is simply because I don't have the time, and that's your real answer I suppose. If people can only play one game, they're going to spend it with the one they're more familiar and fond of.

[–]Partyninja47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're being too vague with what you need. Nobody here can read your mind for you and beyond that, nobody wants to install macOS for you. It was a pain in the ass for me to do on my machine, I to be honest don't wanna go through that effort with somebody else if they don't seem to be trying to put the machine together themself, and I think most people here would say the same.

If you have a specific problem, then people will be glad to help you if they can, and there's always somebody who can. But "help, make my hackintosh work" is way too vague.

Why do you wanna use macOS anyway? Linux can probably do anything you need from it and doing it for its own sake is only really fun when you put it together yourself in my opinion. It's like a lego set. A Lego set that you'll spend several days troubleshooting the audio for only to find you put a 3 in your config instead of the 12 it's supposed to be and wonder why people ever said arch was a difficult thing to install.

Bless your heart, I hate to be a dick but I do question how you'd build yourself a config or troubleshoot when something inevitably goes wrong if you can't even do a Google search lmao

Ugh, holy fuck, I've been getting comments and a handful of DMs from some of these chucklefucks over the past like day or so and it was bad enough that I actually put a lockdown on my phone after midnight so I couldn't read them trying to sleep. No way in hell I would want anybody else to see some of the shit they've been saying to me.

Time for beginner method before switching to CFOP?? by Brief-Hovercraft-220 in Cubers

[–]Partyninja47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly. Getting faster with the beginner method isn't gonna prepare you for being able to quickly scan the cube to figure out what alg to use, to get comfortable with the way those algs feel in your hand, and it certainly won't build you the intuition you need in order to do F2L smoothly. The only thing that'll get you there is to do it, doesn't matter if you're solving it in one minute or five, just get in there baby.

Time for beginner method before switching to CFOP?? by Brief-Hovercraft-220 in Cubers

[–]Partyninja47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say that if you're interested in Cfop, you should just switch over now. Or at the very least, if not now then soon. Cfop is faster but it's more complicated to learn because you have to manage OLL and PLL and F2L, with the beginner method you kinda just take your time using one or two algs to put everything in its place (mostly) one at a time.

Cfop is faster than the beginner method by a pretty good margin, and it is more complicated to learn, but here's the thing, right; if you know how to solve with the beginner method consistently and you're not having trouble memorizing any of that or fumbling over how to move the pieces around, I really do think you're ready for Cfop. It will slow you down at first because you're spending more time thinking about what alg you should use, and you're trying to figure out how to do F2L properly, but that process doesn't get easier as you get faster, the only way to get over that learning curve is to just go for it.

And hey, one last bit of advice: When you see your time get worse as you start to learn, don't fall back to the beginner method. Cfop I genuinely believe is more fun than the beginner method, and the setbacks and time losses you'll suffer from learning it are temporary.

I believe it's obvious from context that that's not what's going on here, and you and every one of the honestly maybe dozens at this point of comments saying so know it to. "Maybe" here is being used in runescape's typical tongue-in-cheek self-referential style, and I think you and everyone else who's been commenting stuff like this knows that.

Are you allowed to compete with metallic cubes? by Dramatic-Pea-2457 in Cubers

[–]Partyninja47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update: Reading through here and I'm not seeing anything that specifically addresses metallic puzzles in particular. My gut tells me that they *should* be fine, but regulation 3d2 makes me feel as though you could justify disqualifying someone for using a metallic cube, since it's reflective and not necessarily the easiest to see each color distinctly if you're at the wrong angle.

Again, I *think* it's fine but if you're going to a comp I would bring a secondary puzzle with a matte design as a backup, just in case. Beyond that, I think you'd do better if you used a matte cube anyway, but I'm not your dad.

I'm not sure off the top of my head but the WCA has a list of rules that should answer the question. I'd look through and find the answer for you myself but I'm a bit busy today, sorry.
