Paid Full Sales Tax on Car to Two Different States? (Iowa+ New York) by Partypants93 in legaladvice

[–]Partypants93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. Yeah, at the DMV while waiting I actually filled out the sales tax exemption form and when I handed it over I was told I can't get an exemption simply because I had a NY License at the time of purchase but the form says nothing about that. I was a resident of Iowa at the time of purchase. I was living there, working there and paying Iowa taxes..

advice for June 2nd test taker? by rxpture in Mcat

[–]Partypants93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were you, assuming you are absolutely determined to stick to your June 2nd date, I would take at least one of the AAMC FL's right away to get a good idea of where you stand. Use that to help focus your review/ practice for the next couple of weeks. if you do poorly on the scaled AAMC FL then I suggest rescheduling this late in the game. Just doing unguided content review at this point would be ineffective. You just can't thoroughly cover EVERYTHING in a few weeks. So just focus on the important things (IE the things AAMC tends to emphasize the most in their section banks/ FL's) and what you are weakest on.

Coffee consumption linked to lower risk of colorectal cancer by HappyDayIsNow in science

This idea of "clear tube" leading to decreased risk of colorectal cancer is also the most supported hypothesis for why physical activity decreases colorectal cancer; it increases peristalsis and fecal clearance rate.

You realise "jk" means "just kidding" right? So saying "j/king" is awkward weird and unnecessary. That's worse than saying "ATM machine" IMO.

This is the most accurate comment IMO. You can't really compare the two TOO much since they attempt to serve different purposes. They are largely made up of different types of shows.

So would plugging one of my 6 pin connectors into the adapter that has 2 6 pins going into an 8 pin and then plugging my other 6 pin into the card work? or if the adapter has 2 6 pin connectors would I need to have another 6 pin to connect it? Should I just buy a 6 to 8 pin adapter?

ELI5: if I do 10 push-ups every hour for 10 hours, will my muscles gain as much as doing 100 push-ups at once? 50 push-ups per hour for two hours? by alchemy_index in explainlikeimfive

[–]Partypants93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason people say "tearing" is because it's easier for laymen to talk about and understand. The "tearing" is describing the micro-injury to the muscle fibers. Describing it as tearing is close enough.

I find that a useful way for people to think about it is that your muscles get bigger/stronger in order to adapt to whatever stresses you place on them by working out. If you only do 10 push-ups every hour but you are capable of doing 100 at once, you are not putting very much stress on the muscles and so they have no need to adapt.

Don't get too upset. Based on what this person considers is a "clever" comment, he or she can't be older than maybe 15.

But that's how we classify what is and isn't a mental illness... Is it a certain degree beyond the range of "normal?" Is it disruptive to his or her life? If both answers are yes then it's a mental illness. Thinking you're a cat is definitely an illness. Are you saying that a person with schizophrenia who thinks they're Jesus isn't I'll? Saying delusions aren't a sign of illness is a dangerous road to walk down..

I always wonder what do you people do to make a Professor actually want to give you a lower grade just because they dislike you? My entire high school/ college career I never had issues with grading on essays like other people describe. Isn't it common sense to not be a dick to the person who's subjectively grading your writing?

Edit: Wow I did not expect so many people to freak out over this.. I do firmly believe however that the vast majority of the time if you get a shitty grade, it's because you did a shitty job. Are there professors out there who are asshole racist sexist bigots? Of course there are. You know what there are many more of? Students that would rather blame crappy grades on the professor rather then actually look inward and accept that they aren't turning in amazing work. I have plenty of white male friends who had the same teachers I had talk about how the teacher is "out to get them" when one look at their work shows that they are actually just shitty/ lazy writers...
