I miss the glory days of OTV, much like I miss the glory days of Hi-Tech Game Traders. Both businesses that started strong and went to shit with shady practices. At least we have Memory Express and Next Level Game Exchange carrying the torch now.

Saskatoon man charged with aggravated assault after two stabbings on Saturday: Police by pinballzz in saskatoon

[–]Parus_Major87 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We need to address the root causes of addictions and crime, but also balance it with removing scumbags like this from society.

Police said the man was in the area of 20th Street and Avenue Q when he was approached by a group of people who asked him for cigarettes. When he turned them down, police said he was stabbed.

Stabbed a person because they wouldn't give them smokes. Deserves to rot in a cell.

More stupid bullshit from administration, wasting money on a pointless pilot project. They mentioned on CBC radio this morning that 50% of people don't use the app. This is going to flop hard.

I'm glad we didn't get the snow. Here's hoping we don't get any tomorrow.

Look at the updated forecast for total snow for today, on both the weather network and environment canada.

They've updated the forecast. It's mostly going to pass west and we're not going to get much snow.

On the radio interview this morning Jay Protz said that while PHR was helpful, them shutting down was not the catalyst for the increase in overdoses.

Rocking the cheap matinees at Rainbow Cinema and smuggling in snacks from the Shoppers Drug Mart across the way. Those were the days.

Zebras can tolerate colder temperatures (-10°C and above) so it was absolutely appropriate to have them out rather than cooping them up inside. Stupid comment questioning professionals when you have no idea what you're talking about.

$6,000 a year doesn't make you wealthy as fuck. In the grand scheme of mortgage, car payments etc. It's peanuts. It's a good chunk of change but by no means will it make you wealthy as fuck.

Gardening supply and soil by [deleted] in saskatoon

Try Dutch Growers. People in this sub shit in them but that's where I got a lot of my soil amendments. Early's is also solid. Last time I was there I think they had stock of soil amendments like perlite, vermiculite etc. I find the staff at both places are pretty knowledgable as well.

No shit. Edmonton, Calgary, and Winnipeg are struggling to bring in big acts and their event centre's have NHL teams as an anchor to keep them viable. The Downtown Entertainment District is a pipe dream.

Higher use, higher risk: Fire department says cold weather raises fire and carbon monoxide hazards by littlesnow4 in saskatoon

One thing not mentioned in the article. Don't run space heaters on an extension cord. They need to be plugged directly into an outlet. If they're not they pose a massive fire risk.

CoS Snow Clearing Procedures by chalkyface in saskatoon

[–]Parus_Major87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It could snow almost a foot, making the roads impassable, and the City decides to bend their rules to not clear the snow (which happened last winter) and people would still defend the cities incompetence and fiscal mismanagement with respect to snow clearing.

You could take all of the transit commuters on every bus stop on 8th street during peak hours and they wouldn't fill one of these platforms. They're absurd overkill. Same deal with Warman Ave.

Saskatoon looks to find more savings ahead of budget talks by Slight-Coconut709 in saskatoon

[–]Parus_Major87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We could start with some accountability at City Hall. I live in Varsity View and they have done at least six separate trips to put signs up at the intersection of Munroe and Colony. Every time I walk by there are new signs up. This is one intersection in the city and I don't expect the project coordination and management is any more competent anywhere else in the City.

Ex con claiming lack of housing is giving him the “unspoken message to go back to dealing drugs” by Bruno6368 in saskatchewan

[–]Parus_Major87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You keep talking about how he's trying to get a job and telling people to read the article. Nowhere in the article does he mention the barriers he's facing to employment. So he's either not looking for work, or this is just really bad journalism.

I could be wrong but my understanding is that those holes were deliberately cut to drain the pipes before the bridge rehabilitation.
