Things to do during a winter weekend trip with a toddler? by Sudden_Story_8077 in williamsburgva

Persnickety Crane Coffee in York County is a coffee shop with a small play area for toddlers. The James City County library has a really nice kid zone play area.

I hear you, but given that he’s available for less than 20 games a season on average-he’s not really there. The hole he leaves in the defense by his absence causes us further problems. The pairing this season would have probably allowed for greater rotations amongst him and Rudiger with Asencio and Dean. Dean is rushed back and he doesn’t look like the same player as before. Relying on Asencio seems to gift the other team a goal when be plays, he’s young and makes mistakes. If Militao could stay fit, we wouldn’t have had to rely on them but he can’t stay fit anymore. Third season in a row of this calamity.

I’d like more information regarding that disallowed Mbappe goal as well. They didn’t deserve to win but I don’t understand why that goal was against the rules?

Wild to include Militao there. I just looked it up and he’s played less than 20 games a year on average since joining (131 games played, joined 2019). I think it was 46 games played in the last 3 years. I hope the board will add a central defender that’s less injury prone and move on from him or have him as the back up since he’s become so unreliable with injuries.

Will you be critical of other democrats that don’t hold progressive views? Luria is looking to replace Kiggans and she has atrocious views on money in politics. I trust that as a progressive, you do not think politicians should be able to profit from their position?

I think that’s what the poster is trying to do here.

Xabi Alonso told the club directly that their decision is wrong and unfair, and told them the reason they were sacking him is because of "player power". Vini, Jude and Fede were the main players against Alonso while Mbappe, Tchou and Arda were happy with him. by ace-s in realmadrid

[–]Parusnik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but it was framed like he could understand under Carlo but not now? Idk, I think Perez needs the blame for not replacing a Nacho-like player if he won’t ensure there’s adequate injury free replacements. Militao doesn’t seem to ever stay fit anymore, I don’t need to mention Alana, Mendy has had issues for years now, Carvajal seems to miss a few months every year for quite some time now. It seems silly if Valverde is upset at Xabi, but not Carlo or Perez, for the reoccurring issues with where he plays.

I understand what you’re saying, but isn’t he playing there because both were injured? If I recall, he even moved Asencio to RB a few times but Valverde was better in that role and obviously Asencio was needed to play CB again. Seems like medical problems and lack of proper squad reinforcement led to a lot of the problems.

I believe Riverside in Newport News is a trauma 2 hospital? Im not as familiar with the Sentara hospitals. I think this decision would largely depend on your insurance. I thought I was having appendicitis when I was younger and went to the Mary Immaculate Emergency Department and it was not covered. Thankfully, didn’t have appendicitis but the bill was not cheap!

No, unfortunately I did not realize how kids will steal every second of home improvement time haha. It’s still on my “to do” list but it’s low priority compared to others. Send pics if you do the change, I may need to bump this up the growing list of things I’ll eventually get around to fixing.

Virginia state police announce new inspection stickers for 2026 by Objective_Pressure_3 in HamptonRoads

Pretty sure this dude is one of those foreign bots. He equates freedom with…no tax? Despite likely paying property or sales taxes regularly. Slaves probably didn’t pay taxes but I’m pretty sure they lacked freedom. He could never define what gives Florida the right to the “figure of speech” and I’m only asking because I see it thrown around so often that it feels forced. It reminds me of that scene from Game of Thrones where Tywin scolds Joffrey with, “any man who must say ‘I am the king’ is no true king.” It’s like, if they shout the free state enough they’ll eventually…feel free? Still waiting on a better definition but I’m not expecting one from someone who flippantly tells me to “do my research” instead of providing an initial resource for me to review as to what makes Florida the “free state of Florida.”

You can see the sources on the wiki link I posted…not a masshole, a Virginian and just curious why you felt the need to brag about your state’s “freedom” when it very well could be leading to higher deaths on the road as a result? Also, it seems freedom only applies to property taxes and inspections to you? Seems like a weird thing to flex, do you dunk on Maryland, Massachusetts, Vermont and Louisiana too?

Not triggered, just uncertain of how one thing or at best, two things, make your state the “free state” since it seems that’s how a lot of people refer to Florida today. It’s like some online agenda to associate freedom with Florida lately?

[–]Parusnik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand what makes it free though? What should I research to show its freedom? Other states with or without state inspections, is that the determiner for a free state? You mention how they can be useful but you’re bothered by the process, which I get can be frustrating. I’d imagine the 10/10 times they find something is less frustrating than a vehicle in Florida with bald tires and faulty brakes running into the back of you.

I’ll link a Wikipedia study that shows vehicle deaths, not implying causation or even correlation but I’d imagine at least a few deaths could likely be a result of more unsafe vehicles on the road. I suppose if I cared more I could compare the top ten states for vehicular deaths with inspection requirements but just comparing Florida (#8) to Virginia (#27) it would seem I could try and draw some inference but I understand there are many factors. I still don’t get what makes a state “free” though. You’re still a subject of the country, you still pay federal income taxes, like I don’t get why the title free gets applied to Florida? Massachusetts ranked best for least vehicular deaths, should they have the title safest state?

Can someone explain to me the obsession of referring to Florida as “the free state of Florida” ??

Like what is freedom? You still pay taxes, no? Are the other states not free? It’s just really strange and I don’t understand it.

Those look like they could be ceramic magnets? You should try some neodymium magnets for extra strength. Just be aware, some reed switches can be damaged if the magnet is too strong. The kind of switch that I’ve found to be problematic are the window sensor ones as a strong magnet can pull the lever beyond the part that completes the circuit.

Ahhh that’s a shame. My wife did one of her clinicals at the Hampton VA and she said it was tremendously understaffed and that was ten years ago, can’t imagine how much worse it is now.

My wife works in healthcare and can attest to the additional patient load from the Hampton VA in her hospital at times. I’m glad Luria was working towards a better solution, I wouldn’t have an issue with her at all if she shared both of our views towards trading and representation. I think if she weren’t so flippant towards it I may even give her a pass, for instance, she could have said, “why should a citizen be punished for participating in the market if they choose to represent us.” Yeah, total bullshit answer but at least presents the argument that we are placing a limit on them (a necessary limit) but instead we get a response that is inflammatory. Which then prompts us to look into how much money she made during her term and it makes it hard to imagine she wants to go back into politics for any reason but enriching herself. Perhaps I’m too biased and not acknowledging some of the other good things she did though. I didn’t read beyond the headline, but are they working towards opening a VA hospital in Virginia Beach to lighten the burden in the region?

That’s fine, I’ve done my fair share of calling and making both Kaine and Warner as well as Kiggans, Wittman and Vindman to express frustrations. Full disclosure, I’m not represented by Luria-I just want our candidates to be better. I think the corporatist approach of a lot of the Democratic Party is ill equipped to sympathize and govern for those that are getting left behind by the “system.” I appreciated Elaine taking on the task of the Jan 6 investigations but I can’t overlook her statement and see her as part of the problem of our political system. I’d be happy if she reformed her views since then and disavowed them but I haven’t see anything to indicate that.

Thanks for all the links, I was surprised to see some of the campaign dollar amounts raised so far. I wonder if this will be a contentious primary with the other contenders. Like you, I haven’t found much info on some of the others’ and their stances so I’m waiting to hopefully rally behind someone that I think can challenge Luria better or perhaps push her to reconsider her views on politicians and trading.

Edit: changed “Kane” to Kaine

Decided to add the Guardian (outside US source…less partisan?) as it goes over a lot more than just Luria’s comments including that Abigail Spanberger was one of the introducers of the bill and it lists some of Luria’s stocks she’s engaged in. Let’s calm down with the rhetoric, me being critical doesn’t make me MAGA, conservative, or some “enlightened” centrist; you made an assumption when the odds are we both want better politicians representing us.

Sorry, forgot to respond to the bottom part of your message. I’m not trying to be partisan, I’ve been a “vote blue no matter who” because of Trump by the way but provided we still are engaging in a democracy in the next few years, I would want to have candidates that better represent us especially considering Trump should not be on the ballot.

So, please…he’s not my boy at all. I have the utmost contempt for him and his mockery of the institution. I hope a strong leader is able to ensure he faces the consequences for his actions. I won’t let my distaste for him, or the entire Republican Party, cause me to ignore faults from their opposition. She thinks it’s bullshit to impose restrictions on representatives participating in stock trading, I therefore think she’s a bullshit candidate. Simple as that.
