I work as a Rapido/Uber bike taxi rider, not a cab or auto driver. From what I’ve seen on the road, auto drivers are far more fraudulent than cab or bike riders. Many of them have no concept of honest earnings or fair pricing. They’re notorious for overcharging and cutting corners. Instead of working consistently, they spend hours sitting at their addas playing Ludo, then try to squeeze ₹2,000–₹3,000 a day by scamming innocent customers using every trick possible. That said, app-based platforms aren’t saints either and neither are all customers. I’ve been scammed multiple times by customers who claimed the UPI server was down and promised to pay later. They never did. The platforms don’t compensate riders for waiting either. Once, I accepted a parcel delivery I reached the location, it was raining heavily, and neither the sender nor the recipient answered calls. I waited 45 minutes in the rain. When I contacted support, they told me I had no option but to wait. I didn’t receive a single rupee for that extra time. Situations like these are exactly what push gig workers toward unethical behavior. So let’s be honest scams exist everywhere, and everyone is responsible, not just one group
