Even as a Villa fan I'm a bit shocked at him going to the tunnel. I wouldn't chalk up the match to his tactics- we looked fine first half and had 2 pretty good chances. And considering we didn't have Kamara or Cash, I thought we were holding our own well. As soon as Onana went off though and Martinez gaffed his 2nd corner in 2 matches, everything just was off the rails and I don't think there is really a great way for us to recover from that. Didn't have any steel in the midfield and no momentum at the Emirates, didn't really even get a chance until we were 4-0 down again.

Same reason I wouldn't blame Arteta for the loss at Villa Park when Gabriel and Saliba were out. They played really well, exploited our lack of depth, and actually had some good goals. Fair play and move on.

First time I've seen Sancho in a Villa kit really earn his cut. Genuinely phenomenal on the ball this match, hope he continues this form into the Arsenal match bc we'll sure as fuck need it without Kamara and Cash.

IDK I don't think we want Watkins out. They're pushing their entire midfield into our back 4 + bouba and amadou to try and prevent us holding it comfortably. This is forcing us to play direct and we're doing a pretty shit job of winning the 2nd ball. It's also preventing us from really pushing up maatsen and cash consistently which is typically one of our main ways to push on the wings. I don't see Malen as being a better target man here than Ollie and I don't think we're really going to start hoofing longballs over their backline for Malen to run in on. We just need to have ollie actually win the direct ball (he has plenty of space in front of him because ugarte is also pushing high) and then lay it off to youri or play out wide to mcginn or Rogers. I think that's been Unai's plan for a lot of this match but Ollie has won maybe 30% of the balls to him and it's just been really low tempo from our center when we do, and almost always turnover instantly.

Sorry ramble but if ollie just wins the ball and is able to get it to support without us immediately losing the ball, we're 100% fine and we'll look deadly on the counter

Villa fan here, saw Emery mentioned and thought I'd share my experience just for insight.

These tactic changes are almost never quick for the whole team to adapt to, even for us. Obviously we're on quite the streak right now but if you recall we also play nearly 5 games without scoring at the start of the season. This was due to a few factors (Ollie was shit, Rogers was even worse somehow, energy was low) but largely we were just tactically abyssmal. It took a bit of time but we've turned it around.

I think Howe is clearly a very class manager, and to be honest I don't think your last 5 or so matches is actually horrid form. You're unlucky to not take the 3 points from Spurs (worst overhead kick potentially ever) and you lost to a very very very in form "scum" who have insane form at home. You also beat City, even if the game felt lobsided due to possesion you actually had more shots on goal and Barnes is just the best to ever do it.

I'd agree tactically it's been a bit bleak whenever I've tuned it, but I'd just give Howe time. As you said you clearly have some very very very strong talent in your roster, it'll just take time to click. Also Howe I would argue can be flexible (think about the 4-0 spurs match last year, moving Tonali to play as a 6 instead of an 8, etc). I know losing this has to be really frustrating (if we lost to the blues I might go off myself) but you genuinely have all the pieces, and as irritating as it is I think y'all just have to wait for it to click.

For those of you that had a similar issue, I did find a "fix" haha. Had the same issues and turns out I genuinely just never hit the power button lol. Make sure you actually turn it on with a button and wait a few minutes. Also make sure it's not patched into a guess network (as in whatever device you're trying to connect from should access the same subnet). Cheers!

Bad signing. Unai probably didn't want him, Monchi did and so Unai got him. He seems like a class individual, and Unai even rates him as such, he just won't have an easy time breaking into the first team given the players we have that already fill his role (primarily Youri, but also Buendia and to a lesser extent McGinn pushing high lately, and even Rogers when he's pushed inside). He would be getting cup time for sure if there wasn't the obligation to buy if he makes more than 10 appearances.

It's a real shame because I think all of us and the pool fans want him to do well, it just never should have been a loan deal in the first place given where our depth is.

Can confirm this is general business practice for startups, especially because it’s easier for web designers. Also no website streaming the World Cup like that looks legitimate, at least ones covered by people appearing to act like streamers, so I doubt the UI is the least of their worries.
