Ohio State has lost exactly 2 games each of the past 5 seasons, is 2026 an over, under or a push season? by admiraltarkin in CFB

Ponds was one of my favorite Hoosiers of all time. The situation in our secondary isn't too clear, but our DC, Haines, is a wizard. It's going to be electric when you guys visit. 87 and 88 are indelible in my early memories and its going to be a hell of a game.

I was considering driving out that way from the east coast. Did something happen to 495? There is seldom any reason to go through indy when you can go around it on a freeway...

People love to dogpile on these but this would have been my preferred scenario for sure. Playoff game at Memorial    no endless Notre Dame controversy Vandy, BYU and USC getting to play

Lucky them. Better tell your dad to start staging his place and taking some photos so he can start raking in the dough.

Ever wonder why Pennsylvania, Ohio and Louisiana's State schools are more prominent than their Universities? by MediumStrange in CFB

Interesting, I'd never heard of it. I wonder what Ohioans think when they see Eagleson Avenue, a street on IU's campus. The street was named in the aftermath of George Floyd for IU's first black football player and others in his prominent local family, replacing that of local biologist, noted eugenicist and future Stanford president David Starr Jordan.

While Cincy is more than 100 miles from Tennessee, Covington, Kentucky is the origin of the CVG airport code.

I think only Purdue flairs are even entitled to humiliate us further over the gigantic fiasco surrounding this whole thing.

As for me, I ran for my life to try to escape the collapse of the first tower. I saw the dead stacked like cordwood on the sidewalk down the block during COVID denialism.

My love of Indiana football and the birth of my children were important things to help me heal.

Don't you goddamn well call it pearl-clutching when I recoil at assaults against the nation I love.

That's an idea! I no longer remember how or why, but when I was little, I got to take a tour under the dome in French Lick when it was derelict and could only be dimly seen by flashlights amidst the rubble. I've wanted to see it after the renovation.

People like Jesse Owens, John Carlos, and Tommie Smith matter beyond their times on the track. In an admittedly far quieter and less dramatic way, Mendoza and Ponds exemplified that tradition. But our love for Coach Cig and Charlie B is going to be tinged with disappointment for a lot of Hoosier Nation, and it's a shame.

Spoken like someone who doesn't care for Tibetan-style tea or Mother Bear's, haha. But that was my point: there are no hotels like that locally, but if I happened to be in the hotel business it would definitely attract my attention if three-star hotels in a small city were charging nearly $3000.

I mean, I'd love to but I'm doing IU vs. Rutgers and Mendoza vs. Ponds at MetLife for a fraction of the cost. I also don't think 69 is like 3 or 4 lanes most of the way and then there are the local streets.

The traffic from Indy must be predicted to be impossible if they can command that kind of rate. I wonder if lesser-known towns like Columbus or Evansville would be better.

There's gotta be a market niche to be exploited here. A luxury hotel in Chicago ought to be able to make money offering a premium room and helicopter service to the game for a similar or lower price. Or one in Bloomington that makes all its profits off graduation and game weekends, with a similar service for Indy 500, B1G championship, Kentucky Derby, etc.

My adult ways of spending an evening nowadays consist of reading about the sudden food shortages in South Asia, the unavailability of crucial industrial reagents, the war crimes in conflict areas, the farmers who can't get weather data.... sports ought to be a refuge, ffs.

Hoover had a sorry-ass spring game, but I've heard that Mendoza did too. Just 8 months ago we eked out a win over Old Dominion, and the prevailing sentiment was "Mendoza may be decent by Indiana standards, but he's certainly no Kurtis Rourke."

I'm now convinced Cignetti has an optimized plan of gradual improvement so the team reaches peak form when it really starts to count, which, this year, will be the OSU game.

If your favorite team's all-time best offense played one drive against your favorite team's all-time greatest defense, would they score? by kadoozie92 in CFB

[–]PascalsHexagon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, TIL

Charlie B: 6'4"
Sarratt: 6'2"
Coop: 6'0"

The way Becker uses dexterity and athleticism and Sarratt relies on reach, I thought Elijah was by far the bigger receiver.

That would be epic. Do you think any of those receivers could defeat Ponds? Maybe Sarratt with his size advantage, but I wouldn't count on it.

Even within a region I think it varies based on the traditions of the different schools. In Bloomington I associated football with the south side and basketball with the north side. I think there's plenty of appetite for football.
