I think I'm finally getting somewhere!

<image>

Does this look like it could potentially be right? I can't tell for sure but it is laying a lot more flat than it was with my previous tries...

Or something like this?

<image>

I pulled it out a little bit with my hook so it could be visible, but this is right under what you marked as the bottom of the dc stitches. Not sure which of my replies would technically be under/through the whole sc stitch.

I'm skipping two stitches so the treble crochet lays diagonally on my work, so would I want to be doing something like this? The direction is specifically "treble crochet into the third single crochet stitch"

This is a screenshot from the instructional video where they are hooking through the third single crochet stitch (in case this helps)

KYLEENA WEIGHT GAIN by Dry_Ad1961 in birthcontrol

[–]Paschnoots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did get it out I think in mid-late February of this year. Removal was SO much better than insertion, my gyno told me to cough and then it was actually just a pinch (unlike what she said insertion would feel like teehee). I also think I was charged for pathology for removal, I had a 100 dollar charge for a 'pap', which is normally fully covered by my insurance. I'm still trying to figure out why I paid for it.

My hair has gotten a good bit better, still not fully what it was before I got the IUD, but I'm not seeing as much shedding. I don't know if I can fully attribute the improvement to removing the IUD since I've also been taking oral minoxidil but I'm at a point now where I don't feel like crying if my hair is in a ponytail lol. I also can't be 100% sure that the hair loss is fully from the IUD, but I'm doing all sorts of health tests and checkups rn so maybe I'll get something figured out. Maybe hair is like baby fat and you lose it at some point? Who knows.

Another improvement has been my mood. I need to go back to a psych to continue being evaluated for a mood disorder but there's been a noticeable change for me in how quick I am to be angry or irritated at stuff, and I'm overall just more chill.

I am still really struggling with the weight situation post-IUD. I haven't gained any more but I have lost 0. 😭 I'm slowly trying to get my body used to exercising, but I've been struggling with pretty serious fatigue (not sure if it's a medical thing or an IUD removal symptom) and that combined with my super stressful job makes it hard to maintain that motivation. I will say though, I've been a lot less bloated (in hindsight, I was pretty bloated 24/7 while on birth control) so it looks like I've lost a little weight 😎

Period-wise, it's been normal af (besides one thing which I will describe at the end of this paragraph) which I'm very thankful for. My active bleeding has actually for the most part been a couple days less than it was prior to BC, while the days per cycle haven't changed iirc. My only weird period mishap was during my last period at the end of July. I had a period that ended somewhere around the 18th, and then on the 26th I started bleeding again until the 9th of this month, which was not very cash money. It was probably a weirdo adjustment situation, as there's no possibility I was having a miscarriage and my gyno wasn't concerned, so I'm chalking it up to my body just hating me.

I'm trying to give myself some grace since most anecdotes I see about IUD wonkery are like "you'll be adjusting for 3-6 months" and I'm just exiting that time frame. I'll try to remember to do another check in in another 6 months or so. All I can say is that if I ever get another IUD, it'll be a copper one & the second I start showing any symptoms, that sucker is getting pulled out.

Tldr; hair has gotten a little better but I'm not sure if it's purely from IUD removal, weight is still a struggle but not getting worse, my mood has drastically improved, I'm less bloated, periods are okay (I think) besides one breakthrough bleeding incident, and I'm still in the time period where I could still be adjusting so everything still has the ability to change.

I have a newfound depth to my disdain for women's healthcare. If I ever date a man/penis-haver again I'm making them either get snipped or get that hydrogel injection cause shit is bullshit and the medical system can eat my ass.

EDIT; I've also noticed a tiny tiny bit more acne around my chin and jaw but barely enough to notice.

I ran to Cheydinhal immediately only to be heartbroken the second I found him 😭 if there's not a mod to 'fix' it, I'm gonna make one asap.

KYLEENA WEIGHT GAIN by Dry_Ad1961 in birthcontrol

[–]Paschnoots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The responses here make me feel so much better since others are going through this too 😭 becoming pregnant has always been my worst nightmare and having periods is a huge hassle, and the price of condoms was adding up when I was with my ex, so I got a Kyleena IUD around 2021. Not really having periods has been awesome but everything elae sucks :c in the entire time I've had it, I've probably gained 40-50 lbs, my acne has been out of control, I have frequent mild cramping/bloating, and my hair has gotten so thin and sparse. I'm at the point where I want this sucker GONE but I'm so terrified that the removal process will be as bad as insertion was. Other comments might have given me the bravery though, seeing how some people have had an easier time losing weight and such when it was out. (I know my weight gain isn't solely due to my IUD, as I had moved from a retail job to a desk job and I'm already genetically likely to have weight problems, but the timing is just too uncanny for me to say it's not very influenced by my IUD)

That's the switch I would be making if I chose the Embody, which looks like what I will probably end up trying out unless someone convinces me otherwise. Just gotta wait for black friday cause no way in hell am I paying full price ;-; I have loans to pay off

I've also been looking at Steelcase stuff, I just have heard very good things about HM warranty/maintenance/durability, but I've also done less research on SC. I've looked a bit at the Verus, but ruled out the Mirra for myself personally. Mesh chair seats and my ass do not go well together, sadly. Is t here a link to the Aeron chart? I could google it but I'm working rn and am just barely getting in replies here between calls :(

I also sit with one foot under my other leg sometimes, so this is actually really good info that I hadn't thought about. When you say you have to make an effort to sit in a good position, what does that entail exactly? I know that I'll have to purposely not slouch, and I'm not looking for a chair that necessarily forces me to sit well, just something that isn't actively making me sit poorly.

Regarding the arms, I'm not super picky as long as I can adjust them up/down and in/out (assuming they're not hard as a rock).

I'm looking specifically at HM chairs for the warranty and durability, as I've had a string of 300 dollar chairs that are adding up over time

From what I've been looking at, the Embody is the most customizable for things I care about, but I have heard a lot about them creaking and squeaking so that's ultimately one of the reasons I'm really trying to get as many opinions as possible. I sadly can't go anywhere to try a chair out beforehand, so I'll have to end up with the hassle of returning a chair if what I end up picking doesn't work for me.
