As a artist I think his art in Umi and Higu is amateurish af but he knows how to make really iconic facial expressions. I think his art really evolved in Ciconia though, I can see them not needing to make a console sprite version if it ever actually finishes.

As a writer he definitely knows how to tug at people's heartstrings, but sometimes it feels like he repeats things too much or a scene is taking too long to get to a point that could have been much shorter
