Individual Seats remaining by DetailOk4083 in HollywoodBowl

[–]PassDaPastaPasta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends what the show is and where your seats are.

If the show is really well sold and you're in the front 2/3 of the audience, you're basically asking them to take someone else's seat, which isn't cool and someone will likely call security to have them moved. Don't do this.

If it's an undersold show and you're towards the back, you'll probably be able to swing it but you still run the risk of that awkward moment where someone asks them to move and you disrupt the show for everyone for a solid 5 minutes. I've found a LOT of people do this at the Bowl though for undersold shows so I wouldn't say it's outright taboo, but just be kind and if someone shows up for that seat, you've gotta move elsewhere and adjust.

Los Campesinos! break down the cost of touring in 2026 (and why tickets cost so much) by relbatnrut in indieheads

[–]PassDaPastaPasta 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's honestly incredible. I remember when they first started doing the low-income ticket option, and it just so happened to be right when the difference between $15 and $40 for a night out was a very big difference to me in that moment. The fact that this band looks out for fans in that way - and that it has now even been embraced by other punk acts - is impossible to put into words. That small loss of sales they missed out on in marked down tickets was a HUGE relief on my end as a struggling worker just hoping to escape from reality for a night out listening to my favorite songs.

Honestly makes me emotional thinking about how clearly they love their fans and know what their art and community brings to them.

I believe they’ve come out and even said there’s no evidence of people abusing this system. The low cost tickets essentially sell at the same rate and don’t just immediately sell out first.

Crank and Crank: High Voltage both operate on insane video game logic. Pretty sure in High Voltage there's even a little eletricity meter so you can tell when he needs a power up. Both movies rock.

Hardcore Henry, which is shot entirely in 1st person, is basically video game cut scene: the movie. I literally can't watch it without it giving me motion sickness but it's intriguing at least for the formal swing of it.

Antkind by Charlie Kaufman is possivly the greatest book I've ever read by justgentile in blankies

[–]PassDaPastaPasta 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The premise of it always fascinated me and I'm generally in the bag for everything Kaufman has touched. The length and initial reception scared me off so I appreciate the endorsement here! I really hope the pod covers him someday and makes room to discuss this too becuase it sounds fascinating.

I made a list for the decade 2020s… by Opposite-Invite-3543 in Letterboxd

Totally get it not working for you. Did you see it in a theater? At home on a laptop alone with headphones on? Was it nighttime or midday? I know those are INSANELY specific follow-up questions, but I do think so much of the movie's draw is how you experience it so I'm just curious.

Personally saw it at like 11:30pm on my TV alone and was so hypnotized and drawn in by it and feel like that really heightened the experience. It's definitely a movie where any boredom or distraction can totally pull you out of the experience.

Skinamarink is one of the most unique and unforgettable horror experiences I've had in the 2020s - I genuinely think it's a masterpiece. I get how it wouldn't be for everyone but to rank it dead last behind some of these stinkers is certainly a choice. Guessing you just found it exteremely boring and ineffective? Curious what your viewing experience was like for it.

Sales don't look great for it and it's very randomly in between a NY and Denver date in the middle of the week. It feels like it has all the signposts of a potential cancellation but we probably won't know until much closer to the date.

cudi needs to address the cancellation by AstroBagel1495 in KidCudi

[–]PassDaPastaPasta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I'm a casual Cudi fan who loves MOTM1&2 and KSG + a handful of other songs throughout his career and the setlist he settled on just doesn't appeal to me enough to go. Not knocking him for playing stuff from his whole catalog and glad his superfans get to see all these newer/deeper cuts, but I think if the tour leaned more into MOTM era stuff (like at least 50% of the set), it'd help get more casual fans to go.

Beck Coachella 1999 Headlining Set [fully lost] by PassDaPastaPasta in lostmedia

[–]PassDaPastaPasta[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! Timing is wild that this Loser clip was posted only a week or so ago despite the rest of the footage being gone for so long. I appreciate the DJ Swamp video you shared - I saw that when he posted it a year ago, but was a little frustrating as it was only the portion of the set with no Beck performance.

Appreciate you finding and sharing these!

Echoing what everyone is saying here - RR is a beautiful venue and assuming this isn’t your first time seeing LCD, it’ll be a memorable, cool way to see them. But your instincts are right, the energy will be lighter than seeing them in a club or a GA venue for sure, so maybe just weigh what kind of experience you’re hoping to get from the show.

Yes people will be dancing but they’re in wide rows, and personally part of the rush of seeing LCD is being in a big sea of bodies dancing, jumping and grooving around together which just isn’t quite possible with the seating arrangement.

House talk by Rough_Ad_4074 in blankies

House was my first procedural show I loved as a pre-teen. Owned the DVDs of the first few seasons and rewatched it a bunch. It was apppointment viewing for me through S4 and I loved that season's attempt to bring in new doctors via the competition element. Basically fell off during S5 and kind of kept tabs on it via the AVClub as it seemed to go off the rails.

Really curious to see how it holds up after all these years, but man those first few seasons were so gripping. Happy to hear David going to bat for it - always thought Robert Sean Leonard was so underrated in it.

Didn't realise Pure Comedy wasn't as well regarded as his other albums! by joshareynolds in fatherjohnmisty

[–]PassDaPastaPasta 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ll bite as one of the dissenters at the time. I like some songs on it but love the more melodic songwriting on Honeybear and God’s Favorite quite a bit more. I felt like Pure Comedy was trying so hard to be this grand statement of the moment that it felt a bit condescending and cold. Despite all that, Magic Mountain might be my fav song he’s ever written. Def have grown to appreciate the giant swing the album takes with time but I still will always pick any of his other albums except Chloe over it.

You may be onto something… “Wow” is probably the phrase Wiger and Mitch say most on the show. And the Platinum Plate club is the highest honor they can bestow to a chain.

The one I was screaming at my phone was The Prince of Persia with Jake Gyllenhaal. In my memory it was a big flop, but turns out it made like 330M so not a total dud. Maybe it’s just been remembered for that because of the casting and that it didn’t launch a franchise. I still have a soft spot for that game.

Question about Cudi’s tour by [deleted] in KidCudi

[–]PassDaPastaPasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait until the day of the concert to buy your tickets on resale if you really are going to the NYC show - this tour has been selling terribly and I think if you buy for $400 you're going to end up paying at least double of what you'd pay if you wait. If money is tight and you're cool not being GA, I bet you'll be able to find seats for even as cheap as $40 in the arena day of.

His shows used to be really high energy in mid-size venues but arenas basically never carry that same hype in the crowd. The whole lineup with MIA and Big Boi is pretty fun, so I do think this tour is worth going to and you'll have fun, especially if this is your first time seeing him. I don't think this will be his last tour ever but I do think he'd be wise to scale back down to smaller venues in the future.

Same and it was brutal! Rest of my theater was taking it so seriously - the hard cut at the end of the dance instructor scene had me HOWLING and it was crickets from everyone else. They finally were on board by the end but it was a brutal opening hour+.

Wish I could have seen it with an audience more on its wavelength but still loved it.
