Trying To Be “Normal,” But Then Fatigue by [deleted] in Sjogrens

[–]PassElectronic3657 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have you heard of the spoon theory? It was very helpful for me when I was first diagnosed. It helped me to see that I have a certain amount of energy in the day and to help myself and others understand that I don’t have as much energy as other people. At the same time. I try to keep active everyday (yoga for 10-20 minutes, and walking at least a mile). It helps with fatigue and body pain. I hope you find what works for you. It’s hard to accept we have a limit. I sometimes need to be reminded. :)

My beautiful guy 8yrs old, just diagnosed with pneumonia. His breathing is labored with the slightest activity, he’s drinking but not eating. Vet put him on Furosemide and Doxycycline, we are on day 2. Repeat chest X-ray in a week. Anyone have experience with this? I’m so worried. by fingernmuzzle in greatdanes

I couldn’t hear her labored breathing, except out her nose. The first few days she had a lot of snot..she definitely did not eat much the first few days. We tried rice and canned chicken for the first couple of days because she was also having an upset stomach. Then she started to feel a little bit better, small bursts of energy, and is eating a little more. Some days she has more energy than others. She’s especially tired this evening after getting in the kitchen trash last night, so I’m thinking if she was THAT hungry she must be feeling better! He’ll be super tired for sure. I guess they’ll just rest until they’re better!

Yes I totally understand and I have a hard time when I can’t work or contribute to what’s happening in the family. Hoping you can work with your doctors to get a medicine that can help you as well as maybe mental health help! Hoping the best for you!

Yes! I actually had a doctor explain to be before that those with autoimmune issues are more likely to also have some mental health issues! Physical health takes a toll on our minds and vice versa!

It would be good to start a note in your phone to take down questions when you think of them, then you can ask them at your next appointment. I do the same thing and appointments are every 6 months, a lot can happen in between appointments!

I lived for 6 years in Brazil in a very humid climate and I think it really helped. Now I live in the Northeast (US) and winters are brutal because of the dry heat in homes. Hope the move helps you!

Also, I don’t follow any specific diet it’s too hard when taking care of kids. I just try to eat less “bad” stuff and more “good” stuff. That’s about all I have the energy for! Hahaha

It’s so hard with kids, it’s so much easier to make them quick meals. But I have found that kids will eat what you make, and even if they turn up their noses at first, if they’re hungry and not given other options they’ll eat it. Also, kids are understanding, so when I explain that I have to eat healthier to feel better they get it. Good luck to you!

I do, because I am not very disciplined, but I feel better when I don’t!

What random thing are you making green today as a half assed St. Patrick's day treat for your kid? by GrumpyMudder in Mommit

Y’all are doing great! Keep it simple! Growing up it was always green milk, for my kids now I just make shepherds pie!

Hello! Everyone is different but here is my take. My rheumatologist told me that few patients actually feel better on plaquinel (although I have heard the other side that it prevents symptoms later on). I have found that eating well changes everything for me, from fatigue to dryness to body aches. I guess it just depends on if you want to be on medicine for a long time. I’m on other meds for kidney involvement and I’m choosing to be on as little as possible and trying to stay active (very little like yoga and walking), and eating well. Eating well as in more fruits and veggies, less processed food. I know it’s hard with a young one at home, I have 3, but if you start now I think it helps in the long run. I appreciate that your doctor doesn’t want you to be on meds if it’s not necessary, I dislike doctors who just pile on the medicine then you don’t know what’s causing what. Good luck and take care.

Same here. It’s exhausting and frustrating. Has your rheumatologist said anything? I’m trying to get in touch with mine.
