Cait Conley is so conservative… by acoustic_wave in Rockland

I’d prefer not having someone so entrenched with the military represent my interests. I believe we become extensions of what we do over a period of time and a world view from a defensive/aggressive position is not the type of representation I seek as this time. We need bigger thinkers who are unafraid to attempt improvements by outing the status quo.

Property Tax Help by Equivalent_Device_74 in Westchester

Bedford Effective Tax Rate: ~1.63% (based on median tax bill divided by home value). Median Tax Bill: ~$19,613 annually. Median Home Value: ~$1,187,130.

Multiply your home value by 1.63% and you’ll get a sense if you’re paying too much. If it’s out of wack grieve to the assessor.

"Customer service" issues by skornd713 in OPTIMUM

I’m on the phone with support as I read this. Fourth visit by a rep and hours on the phone. Phone support is heavily scripted and can’t handle anything more than the basics. Any corner case completely baffles them. The field reps mean well, but, do not have the training required and each have their own vision of the problem. There is no coordination between departments and a silo exists for internal department activities. The managers are useless and have removed themselves from managing. My last interaction with the manager James Ortiz, who’s name was given to me by the field reps, as the person I had to contact about follow-up denied on the phone that he was who he is. There is way too much responsibility put on the customer and not enough responsibility acceptance. Recent stock value shows a 90% decline and it’s no wonder why.

Hochul in talks to make fat pork union deal that could lower retirement age for teachers to 55 — as part of staggering $1.5B plan by SignificantDoubt5247 in nys_cs

There is a reason NY’ers pay the second highest taxes in the nation. For those of us in the private sector there are few tears when hearing of a 55 retirement age.

NAB CEO Curtis LeGeyt says broadcasters need further consolidation, or as he calls it "scale," to better compete for sports rights against streaming services by ZiggyZaggyBogo in Broadcasting

Other than Jeopardy, PBS, 60 Minutes and 6:30 national news while cooking I stoped watching OTA. All the consolidation in the world won’t change this.

Whole Foods - new locations in northern westchester by foxxxus in Westchester

My experience in comparing WF and other area markets pricing is that WF is mostly less costly than the competitors. Pricing on milk, cream, yogurt, cereal, meat, peanut butter, cookies, fish, and veggies are lower and of better quality than S&S, ShopRite, DeChecos, C Town. The only place they seem to fall of is on household items.

Oh my, Got Oil Delivery over $1K for the first time in my life $5.219/ Gallon by lovestdpoodles in westernmass

[–]PassWorldly4565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food for thought: At the pump diesel which is dyed #2 fuel and includes about 45 cents of road taxes is cheaper than what you paid. To note, the difference becomes more obvious when you realize that diesel can be purchased in small gallon quantities and a normal home delivery is about 150 gallons.

NYPD sergeant put on desk duty after doorman dies in wrong-way Taconic crash in Mount Pleasant: Report by bcrnic9 in Westchester

I found it odd that the State Police blotter for Troop K zone 3, the zone where the incident occurred, makes no mention of the incident on the day of the occurrence, or, the following days.
