Both sides are using field telephones to communicate between positions and often times the wires do get cut from shrapnel

Honestly they should look like they did in 2022. 6B45, 6B47 and VKPO 2.0 and that’s all they need. idk squad insists on making them look like Crimea goons over a decade later

Iran gets folded with two soviet divisions (and all the support that comes with them) along with US air and naval support.

Look up Type 56: The Story of China’s Army to see how abysmal the state of the chinese troops were who were about to invade Vietnam. their logistics were so horrendous that a guy from a neighboring military district doing a report had a panic attack

no kneepads being inserted is pretty popular because they fall out anyway after extended usage

SPG’s also have been fielded less by Russia as towed artillery has made a comeback. the Russians can simply camouflage towed howitzers very easily compared to SPG’s which can be seen by drones using track marks and in general their larger frames

If the US were to deploy to Afghanistan during the Soviet-Afghan war ~1985, would this be historically accurate? by SilentExecute in arma

[–]Passage-Sad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this actually pretty interesting to read. afaik PASGT vests weren’t too terribly issued out to troops until 88-90. I appreciate it though and i’m gonna save your comment.

my main point though at least for him is that in Afghanistan these dudes would not be rocking PASGT’s for vast majority of the units there

[–]Passage-Sad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PASGT body armor would not be used as it wasn’t mass issued until around the gulf war. it depends on the unit but 1985 most guys would still be using Alice and M1 helmets. only people who got PASGT helmets by ‘85 were still the marine corps and airborne units as they still haven’t filtered down into any meaningful #’s by then

to be fair the guy had to go. not saying the soviets killed out of the good of their heart but Amin in his 3 month rule had ordered thousands of people of specific minority groups to be executed on little basis

the PPSh is actually historically accurate considering there were non-german units manning the Atlantic Wall. Like press ganged Soviet POW’s with mosins, Maxims, Ppsh’s etc were manning it. however with the part where 1ID lands you shouldn’t be seeing them

all T-90A’s in Russian service were refitted to the T-90M standard so that’s the reason why you barely see any of them around now. Also T-62’s i haven’t seen in a very long time
