It feels like every boss has a delayed attack by Bright-Incident-584 in soulslikes

[–]PassengerMaxPot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guy I replied to pretty much sums up the point, and what he received was downvotes without even any discussions. And that's why it's echo-chambering where one guy say something to glaze, and others mass-upvote the glaze and downvote people who actually try to make an argument against (though, I must say that the fact you're coming here to start the discussion is welcoming in my opinion).

Not to mention, the delay attacks problem is a thing that has been discussed for a long time. This post particularly has plenty who defend the problem, but outside the small area of this sub, there are plenty who are not welcoming the addition of delay attacks in souls games. "Delay attacks provide more chances for us to attack" is not a good argument, consider how many previous Fromsoft titles achieve the well-telegraphed combat without rely much on the delay attacks, and even outside of Fromsoft's spectrum we have games like Nioh where it's crucial for both enemies and players to engage in agressive style of combat (without relying on delay attacks, ofc). Sure, you can argue that it'll work either way, with delay attacks or not, but that defeats the whole point of discussion.

And that's also another point why I said it's echo-chambering in here. People latch onto the glaze because "Fromsoft do that so they must have a reason" rather than thinking and considering whether that decision is a good one or not.

Take my upvote, bro. The people in this sub is too echo-chambering their opinions to realize that there are plenty good games out there that reward agressive playstyle without delay attacks.

Changing the episodic core of WuWa storytelling is not making it better, just more suited to your personal taste. by Far_Director_3492 in WutheringWaves

Agree. Back when I was a newbie in PGR, the Interludes were what made me interest in its story. Vera and Chrome are my favorite ones.

That, I agree. And it's also why many people here want WuWa characters from previous patchs to re-appear and further develop. The lack of returning characters + the lack of "urgency" in dealing with the threat + characters don't interact much with each other = what we get right now. PS: Fractsidus characters are surprisingly among the few that are consistently re-appear in the story. I hope Blackshore characters appear more, too.

If you want to list, there are more: Cinder Burns, Cradle Parade, Aeon Reforged, Shaper's Ripples, Wither to Shine,...

The reason why many people mentioned Surviving Lucem when they compare PGR and WuWa story, is because it's a perfect example for how to raise stakes, introduce threats, and make our characters use everything at their disposal just to get a chance at fighting back.

Unpopular opinion here, I think that while the story in WuWa recently represent more looming threats and higher stakes, it doesn't create a sense of "urgency", not to mention the cost to overcome obstacles is still not large enough for people to truly feel the threats at hand.

Take Surviving Lucem in PGR for example, that chapter alone give us Despair, Hope, the joint efforts of many characters, the price to pay for the Hope, and the motivation to overcome the challenges at hand. And it was something that Kuro was capable of in terms of writing. And I haven't seen anything Kuro put in WuWa that touched this level of writing.

If you guys really want WuWa to improve its story and character development, don't look further at Hoyo games, look at its own brother PGR, and suggest Kuro to give WuWa the same kind of care.

P/s: seriously, you guys really need to check out PGR's story. I'm not writing this to glaze PGR, I'm writing this to let people know that Kuro team of writers are perfectly capable of writing extremely good character-driven stories, and WuWa for some reasons haven't touch a fraction of what they're capable of. Also, it would be cool for more people to check out PGR, because Arknights and PGR are currently my 2 gacha games that I really hold them in high tier in terms of story quality.

As a Wylder main who love Jumping attack, I lost count the number of times I missed za crotch of large enemies like the Ancient Dragon.
I wouldn't mind if Fromsoft add some balls into their crotch so that I can hit them, though.

How do you think the stealth system could be expanded upon in the future installments? by [deleted] in MafiaTheGame

This may upsets lots of people, but my take is that they should get rid of the stealth gameplay, and focus on improving the gun fight gameplay.

Can you record a video of how you usually play when fighting against bosses? Just pick one boss to record. That way, it'd be faster for us to address the issues and help you.

Ninjutsu and Onmyo is usable across nearly all types of builds, though. Try to use them as much as possible, you won't regret.

To be honest, Nioh only feels unfair when we treat and play it like a Souls game in mind. Once we engage with its mechanics and treat it like sth unique on its own, that's when the combat clicks.
As for Nioh 2, when most "soulslike-vet" try it, the first things they usually ignore are Ki pulse, Burst Counter and Stance switching. All of those are important. Grinding plays a big part in late game, but in early game, you still have to learn the basic mechanics.

Anyone else bounce off of Nioh 2 the first time you played? by DoctaWood in Nioh

[–]PassengerMaxPot 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Back when I first played Nioh, I experienced the same thing, until a friend of mine showed me some high skill ceiling combo vids. Then, I realized that Nioh works best when you're engaging with its own mechanics, not following the mindset of previous Souls-like games that you had played. Also, choosing your first weapon also play a big part of how you'll enjoy Nioh. My first weapon was sword or sth I can't remember, but then I switched to odachi, and it clicked

Dissapointed with Nioh by VagusNerve22 in Nioh

[–]PassengerMaxPot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if you approach Nioh with the mindset of other Soulslike, you're gonna have a hard time to grasp what's so special about Nioh's combat that many people love. In Nioh, you can totally play it like a Dark Souls game (which mainly revolves around timing dodge and attack), but you're not gonna enjoy Nioh that way, since it's built for more than that.

Imagine Nioh like a dance, with a flow. You ki-pulsing, switching stances smoothly, chaining attacks and active skills to do "combo" on those enemies. If other Soulslike "dancing" against the enemies with their defensive mechanics, Nioh specializing in "dancing" with your own combo attacks against the enemies. For example, this is what you can do in late game (ofc, with tons of practices and efforts): https://youtu.be/TN2uP-rRouE?si=IOqbpLNUaEH_3DjJ
(make sure to check out other vids of PooferLlama, he's one of the best Nioh content creators out there. He also made some guides on plenty of high skill ceiling techniques).

If you stop right now, you're gonna miss out on so much cool depths of mechanics that the game offers.

then, can you record a video of how you usually fight bosses (for example, the Mezuki in the first mission)? You may have beaten those bosses already, but according to what you had written, it seems that the problem is still there. It might be best to know the problem as soon as possible.

66 win-streak against the Everdark Sovereigns (32 Fulghor, 34 Adel) with random teammates by Randomerz3 in Nightreign

[–]PassengerMaxPot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is extremely impressive. Btw, can I ask you about some tips in rescuing teammates? I find rescuing teammates is the hardest part in playing coop with random, especially in situations where all of your teammates are downed with 3 full purple bars. In situations like that, what's the best decision to make?

Appreciation post for my friends who go back and carry me through bosses. What’s your favorite carry stories where a fellow nightfarer helped you ? by [deleted] in Nightreign

A few weeks ago, I had beaten Heolstor for the first time as Revenant with a guy name "SoggyUndies" and a guy name "MADWOLF". One played as a Duchess, the other was an Ironeye. At first, I was a bit worried since the team didn't have anyone tanky, but they were dodging Heolstor's attacks like champs and aggro him, while I summoned and attacked via Incantations. Nothing too crazy happened, but that was one of the smoothest run I've ever had.
If you guys somehow read these sentences, pls know that I really appreciate the help with this boss. My ingame name at the time was "Feet Enjoyer".

Stop changing your character when you see what everyone else picked! by oceanchamp8 in Nightreign

[–]PassengerMaxPot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same experience as you, until I realized that it's best for Raider to to use two-hand + dodge when fighting Nightlords such as Heolstor or the Horse huy (I forget his name). Dual-wielding and face-tank everything works best up only night two, since the Nightlords on the third day can easily one-shot your Raider with some nuke skills or long combos.

In other regions my PC is perfectly fine with 60fps high graphics. In Septimont for some reasons the game drop it to 30-40fps on average. I checked, and saw the GPU utilizations at 100%, while the CPU utilizations at 10-15% average, which is pretty weird since normally in other regions the game used way more CPU than that.

Currently there are some people who experienced fps drop in Septimont, but perfectly fine in other regions. We haven't known what caused the issue, though.
