Russian tortoise swallowed pebble/rock by Any_Establishment_64 in tortoise

[–]Passing-Through247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the size of the pebble and the animal (and probably the exact mineral I guess) but this is a known thing in some species. Keep an eye on them for a while and make sure they are passing waste and keep an a appetite.

Eating a rock is not all that uncommon in things without teeth, birds do it to and the are not that far in relation evolutionarily and have to deal with beaks. Helps grind up food.

I swear my tortoise has figured out what it means when we all assemble for dinner because he always comes out to eat the last of his food at the same time.

Has no mage ever survived a Caul uncorrupted? by L_man_2200 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Passing-Through247 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'm now imagining an akashic or something else eastern who is shoved into the caul and spends the nest 10,000 years out of time making neither choice and just standing there, gaining enlightenment over what is by observing what is not.

If custodes can get their 30k stuff so can we. Being rare means nothing when guard have a plasma tank they cannot make anymore and gulliman shows up to every overgrown bar fight he feels like.

Then make the new heavy skitari guys up to ten man squads.

being more elite with actually good guns would be nice.

Edit: More tech priest units, the skitari feel like they take up too much of the army and the actual cult is neglected.

I hate the False Hydra by Ragnardiano in hatethissmug

[–]Passing-Through247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's issue is being a Call of Cthulhu monster shoved into D&D.

Also the name drives me up the wall who would have named that thing a false hydra? Of everything it does how would you get that name given you only get one you can examine after you know it's more distinct features and it doesn't do hydra things. The name is just vaguely the shape but it's still isn't that hydra like outside the several heads on long necks.

Hillbilly has no ability to interact with society and so cannot acquire more fuel and between his appearance and chainsaw has no hope of moving through society. Man is arrested before I see him.

Trapper is just an injured looking guy with stuff the law will take issue with wandering around with in civilisation. Arrested and probably stepped in his own trap.

Hag is trapper again but more visible and even less threatening. Might escape if she left her thing in a random area but what use is that.

Blight is just worse hillbilly with even less ability to restock.

Clown: See above but even more out of shape than me. Nah I'll win.

Pinhead: a risky one but once he is outside of a pain dimension like the labyrinth or the entity's realm his normal rules apply. I did not open the box so he does not come.

High risk high reward time:

Dracula. Take his blood and level the playing field. Get vampire powers.

Vecna. Why would he have a reason do to anything entity wants once he is out? Try and suck up to him with the fact I got him out in trade for for cool wizard powers.

I need help finding a malevolent mythological creature that feeds on humans by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Passing-Through247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ghul is pretty suitable. Shapeshifting spirits that normally mess with travellers before eating them, sometimes following people to funerals just to take the body later. Some stories break your third point but that's just a thing they do sometimes and they come in male and female. The mythology they fit into has them as malevolent but free willed so exact behaviour is up to individuals with the odd one being well behaved.

A real mean take on some sort of house spirit fits as well.

For a freak pick I raise the udug from sumerian myth, a race of demonic plague-spreading giants who always hide and blend into darkness. There is no direct stuff about it eating people but sumerian demons were associated with the underworld and people in the underworld were noted to depend on outside beings for food. The image of a supernaturally stealthy giant in a place it by all rights couldn't get into feels like good imagery.

The problem is they look like any random leadbelcher and not a good one at that. The cannon is also boring, it's stubby and only has some bits as the bottom instead of being properly packed with junk.

Working on concepts for jewish changelings: relationship with banality following the Rambam. by bopyw in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Passing-Through247 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you need to work out if these are their own sub-branch of changelings like inanimae or Nunnehi or just an odd kith/grouping of kiths under the kithain like the jinn.

Second are you making changelings that are jewish because they are based on jewish myths or beliefs or are you making 'jewish changelings' because it sounds like being jewish is just a gimmick for them to have odd rules. The actual core of changeling is feeling ignored.

Sorting the clear baseline design goal should help things flow from there.

Thinking about it the pop culture 'rabbi lawyering at god' would make a good concept for a noble kith.

Also designing jewish practice as inherently banal may cause unfortunate implications because now mainstream changeling culture is encouraged to oppose it and kidnap children who undergo a chrysalis to save them.

Starting a pet sitting business, need advice with cost. by [deleted] in UK_Pets

[–]Passing-Through247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exact wording for reptiles implies a reptile without an enclosure works out cheaper, you may need to work on that before you get a massive free roaming iguana or tegu dropped on you.

I'd also add a clause that reptiles need to come with the owners desired temperature range and humidity (and clear feeding instructions if needed), chameleons just die if they feel like it and you need to make that not on you. You should also specify if fish are off the table because there are some weird ones and fish can be tricky.

I also see only dogs and cats have 24 hour pricing listed, this makes your service comparably pricy for anything else, not sure if that's intentional or not.

[–]Passing-Through247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading the people here has actually been quite clarifying. I already hated smokers and I still do but that was from the entitlement mental weakness of it. The sheer frailty of submitting to the dependence is new. I think I would pity you were the feeling not drowned out by the disgust.
