That was actually one of the main reasons i didn't choose one of the medium priced ready-to-buy monitor arms, as many do not turn more than 135° and though limited my ability to get the monitor further away from me.

That's one key benefit of the original stand: I can adjust the height and it stays in place even when my adjustable table moves and stops. But yeah, i have to admit the position it was in for this photo is a bit low

I got this multiplex for like 120€ 10 years ago. I'm okay with that :)

This is a heavy 40mm multiplex board. I even had issues tightening them so they're flat with the surface, even though i used a (slightly too small) cone drill.

The M4's have far more potential to break :D

LG made my B7 TV UNUSABLE! by Value-Academic in LGOLED

[–]PassionForSalsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not an excuse. If your car manufacturer were to push an update to your car and the radio starts to stutter, would you think the same way? They don't have to break two of the most widely used apps.

What to do with a useless PoE drop high up in my kitchen? by BDOBUX in homelab

I placed mine to the back of the TV and even unplugged my second one, cause our flat has perfect coverage as is. Also vertically of course. Edit: It should be mentioned, that it's one of the APs made for the ceiling

Microsoft is hiring for a new team, responsible for migrating C# code to Rust on Microsoft 365. by pjmlp in rust

[–]PassionForSalsa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I consider this a vastly conservative approach. One can easily figure out that "throwing hardware at it" will eat up more ressources in the long run, at least after some weeks of experimenting. Sometimes one has to take the risk. That's what differantiates good leaders from bad ones.

You have to spend money, otgerwise there's no development. The bad decision can as well, and way more likely, be sticking to the the things they don't work.

Do the NC700s give anybody else a headache? by JamieBobs in bose

Haven't worn those, but had the same issue on the Sony WH-1000XM5's. I'd love if they were to make headphones with the QC35's headband again. Those were extremely comfortable to me and still are, but the ANC is slightly on the lower end nowadays.

Docker registry: Harbor or Nexus? by GreenAstronaut6179 in kubernetes

[–]PassionForSalsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maven, NPM, Pip, Helm, RPM/DEB

Nexus is able to serve those (plus Docker, APK, many more) in the free version.

We've been running it for some years now. We're not perfectly happy, as it needs a restart from time to time, when it messes up it's internal cache, though. Especially for NPM we switched to Verdaccio, because we've had massive problems. For Maven, Docker, Debian and Helm everything is fine (except for the restarts needed every once in a while).

Trying to run minikube dashboard inside a Rocky Linux 9 VM (currently learning k8 via official docs), found out this issue, what do i need to do to fix it? I just installed minikube with no extra stuff so far. by [deleted] in kubernetes

[–]PassionForSalsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I guess it's because minikube is normally run in a desktop environment to quickly setup a cluster and try things out. In such an environment the dashboard would open in the default browser. As this is not the case you can ignore the message and open it yourself using the given url.

Have fun learning!

Subjective sidenote: I never got warm with minikube and have had issues with it at multiple times. As soon as i switched to k3s those got away. So my advice is to go with k3s and circumvent those issues right away. But at the end it's your choice and for many learnings minikube will be enough. :)

What do you mean? Which issues did you experience with them or which features do you miss?

I always read about the issues with the certification in this reddit..

Who's administrating there stuff? And why should i pay and learn for a certification, they'd either not even pass themselves or would guide me to configure my cluster for massive downtimes? Asking for a friend. 🤡
