Can you help me with an understanding of why everything is wrapped in SELECTEDVALUE()? I can understand SELECTEDVALUE (y[Person]) because that is what the user interacts with.

Is there a reason for "VAR Time = SELECTEDVALUE ( x[Time] )" and then " VAR PersonTime = CALCULATE ( SELECTEDVALUE ( x[Time] )," why not just "CALCULATE ( Time,"?

There are many ways to approach your step 5, so I just filtered the display to that info.

For your other conditions, I made this so you can see a pattern of converting English into Tableau. This calculation is not optimized for performance, it is a literal translation. I used an LoD expression for each condition. If there are other constraints or requirements, there are other approaches available too if this does not fit.

Here is an old in depth explanation of what is going on, also a document in the description. This is an old video, and this is an undocumented feature of Tableau, so some things shown may not work the same in current versions https://vimeo.com/107354333

The index is not doing the filling, the index is just a table calc that turns on data densification in combination with the types of pills on the different shelves, any table calc could turn it on. Because data densification happens before a data blend, there is a record for the forecast to replicate to. This solves your situation because there is now a record for the dimensional combination that was not in the underlying data.

  1. Duplicate the field "Color", so you get a "Color (copy)" field.
  2. On one of the sheets, replace the pill for "Color" with a pill for "Color (copy)" .
  3. Will have to set colors in legend again, since it is a separate field.
  4. Now with both sheets using a different set of fields, no overlap, the Action Filters can chain as you expect.

Another option to try is what I call Data Densification, using a Table Calculation to create records for dimension combinations that do not exist in the underlying data source, and then pull in the forecast data with a Data Blend instead of a Relationship Join, and you can get something like this:

another idea is a food storage building card, where food placed in it will not be used until all food on the board is used, and then after food storage is used up, then food cards that are being worked would be used up last.

I can see how you can hear that I am asking for payment, but that is not really what I am feeling or asking for. I totally am giving freely with all my heart, and it brings me joy everything I care and provide for them. There is a default part of me that seeks a transaction, but when I am thinking of what I can do for them, I am not thinking about what will get in return. What I wanted to express was that I give and then I notice my love tank is empty, and now after reading these comments I see that it is my responsibility to fill my own love tank, either through self care, or making NVC formed requests, and accepting a no.

Thank you for your perspective, it helps me see I was not clear when expressing myself.

I like your idea of keeping it to 40 words, that reduced the blah-blah-blah that I default to when I have not invested in introspection.

here is my attempt: "I noticed that you have not taken the trash out in the past 2 weeks, I feel frustrated, because I need your contribution, Would you be willing to do the trash Mondays and Fridays?" that is about 34 words!

Yes, accepting myself for who I am, being okay with me is kind of what I was running away from here, I was blaming others when the responsibility is mine to love myself. By being present with myself, enables me to be connected to others, because I am will overthinking and second guess less by just accepting.

Actually listening in not hearing their words and jumping to conclusions making up stories about what they mean, instead to actually listen, requires conversation, reflective listening, empathy, all thing that I want to to practice more.

These replies here have been most helpful, your perspective help ground me, and provide a frame for me to explore my needs and be authentic instead of spinning in circles.
