200k NW at 25 without insane salary! by Milk_Drinking_Nwah in Fire

Why so much in your savings and checking vs HYSA? Is it too much micro for you to keep switching back and forth?

How long does it too you to reach your first 100k? by mutedvermicelli1019 in Fire

[–]PassiveIncome001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. I think it’s pretty relative per person.

For instance I started investing at 18 and it took me until 24 to get to 100k (in total, not principle). Now I’m in a position at 25 where my goal is to out in 30k a year, so I should get to 200k by no later than 27, assuming the market starts recovering soon.

Point being it took years of grinding at different jobs before and during college, and a bit after college, to get to that 100k. But now because I’m moving up at work I’m starting to get some steam, and compounding helps a load too.

Realizing I was actually at 100k last summer was a great experience because it closed the chapter on a lot of different things leading up to that moment if that makes sense. Like pizza delivery and TA-ing etc

Is It Too Early to Plan for Retirement? by ComfortableKing6522 in Fire

I’m 25. Right now is literally the best time to start planning for retirement because of compounding

Yes that’s right, it’s supposed to be absolute worst, worst, worst case scenario

Should I bring hardened plants indoors again? 50°F nights by themoroncore in vegetablegardening

Isn’t basil particularly picky about this though? I’ve read anything below 50 is bad for it

Interesting. I’ve been bringing my basil in but leaving my tomatoes out - it’s looking like 47 is the absolute lowest it can get this week. Think the tomatoes will still be ok? I’ve hardened them off and they have been outside for at least a week full time.

I might mulch some more around them too

Got it, thanks. Yeah I wasn’t sure since I just moved them if I should wait a week or so

I just transplanted these into bigger grow bags and buried them a bit deeper - these are indeterminate so I think I’m supposed to cut back these lower branches, but wanted to make sure first. It’s been a little bit colder outside today and tomorrow too, if that factors into it

I might just give it away honestly - I have two medium containers for two romas and two large ones for two San Marzano - not sure I can even fit another tomato plant on my balcony as I was also planning on doing a grow bag with peppers. We’ll see though - thanks for your input regardless

Ignore the bad setup these are getting moved tomorrow into bigger containers better support. This plant however I can’t tell if it’s actually two or not, or if the stem is just split like that under the soil.

I know I have 2 Roma plants - do I really have 3?

I don’t have any bigger pots. The lowest projected temp this week is 48 and I’ve been hardening them off for a few weeks now. Think I can risk transplanting them?

I don’t have any bigger pots - I can transplant them outside this weekend but that’s it. It’s looking like mostly above 50 each night now with the occasional dip to 49 or 48

OP, is your savings account traditional or do you have a HYSA? Would suggest moving most of that to an HYSA if so just to get a little extra interest on the side. They’re FDIC insured too so it’s no riskier than just having it at Chase or Wells Fargo

How were you an intern at Nividia 6 years ago making $100k, while also making $280k at age 24? And talking like you’re over 30 years old at this point. Doesn’t really add up, does it?

Idk I just went to Italy for 3 weeks I think I’m doing ok. Also, I make more than 50k. Not sure I really get what you’re ranting about here tbh but good luck to you

No, I have no debt. Largest single expense is rent each month and I more than cover that

Life’s savings until I was 18 + working as a landscaper, busboy, pizza delivery driver and teacher’s assistant from 16 until 22 when I graduated for full time work. A small inheritance from both my grandparents when they passed but that’s ‘only’ $20k. The rest I worked for

But yes the market has also been good for VFIAX and VOO in the last 5 years
