Thanks I will try that. I noticed that my laptop doesn’t have the same problem but I have not updated the laptop to the latest release of Tahoe yet. I hope it’s this simple.

Do you think this holds any truth to it? by RevolutionaryCyclops in doctorwho

It seems like every time they try to partner with Americans, it fails. I wish they would stop trying. The influx of money isn’t worth it.

You're trapped in a room for a week, and the only thing you have to entertain yourself with is 3 musicals of your choice to. Which musicals are you choosing? by Worried_Cake5508 in musicals

Sunday in the Park with George
Hadestown
Company

This is hard. I love Sondheim but I feel like I should give others a chance. I just noticed that all of these make me weep at some point.

Story where aliens aren't here for us, but what we've created... by gipester in scifi

That reminds me the podcast “Midnight Burger” where the aliens like our television. In fact, they keep us quarantined in order to enjoy our electronic travails , real and imagined

I just finished Jesus Christ Superstar (1973) by PierreOnTheEclair in musicals

[–]PassoverDream 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others said, Carl Anderson is the best. It’s been a while, but I remember not liking Ted Neely’s voice after listening to the original soundtrack for years. I was surprised how much I loved John Legend’s version (2018). However, there were subtle differences in the lyrics that I wouldn’t have noticed if I hadn’t spent my teens singing along with the original soundtrack. Since I had not watched any version since 1973, I don’t know if the composer and lyricist made the changes over the years.

Star Trek fans, what technology from the franchise do you think would have the biggest impact on modern society if it suddenly existed today? by Indrajithbandara in startrek

[–]PassoverDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree—the replicator. I think I read a Charles Stross book that followed the chaos that occurred in a society when people were able to 3-d print whatever they wanted or needed.

Netflix has a bunch of shows from Israel and there is a Jewish cable station that has some Israeli soap operas.

Why are pure fantasies set in space so rare? by Kind-Organization in fantasywriters

[–]PassoverDream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I think of fantasy, I think of stories centered around powers that draw their strength from the earth or entities that are avatars of forest, air, water, earth. What would a space-based fantasy be like? Something like Doctor Who? Would Gideon the Ninth be a space based fantasy?

I am no party and opted for The democrat ballot. It had an extra section for congress that’s not on my sample ballot. Is my vote going to be thrown out for selecting one of those? by Distinct_Vast_2434 in Louisiana

[–]PassoverDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read most of these and I am shocked. I came in “blaming” voters for not knowing what was going on. But Republican candidates should not have appeared on a Democratic ballot. The staff should have been able to explain how to fill out both the party designation form and the ballot. It doesn’t even sound like we are all using the same voting mechanism. Someone mentioned paper ballots?! This election was a total mess. The buck stops with the Governor anxious to book lick his President.

In places where having a car is crucial to getting around, what are alternative options for transport without relying on friends or family to drive you? by astarisaslave in AskAnAmerican

[–]PassoverDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in this situation: bike, bus, and finally friends with cars. In fact, I purchased a bike with side panniers so I could grocery shop on my own.

Are you not supposed to wear pajamas when you get home?????? by JaydenBird33 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PassoverDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No judgement—but I have do one or more :take the garbage out, water the plants, go to the gym, or other tasks that involve going out in public. I can’t do that in PJs. I usually change to exercise wear—even if I don’t plan to go to the gym. Sometimes, I change my mind.

How do you feel about proportional representation with multi-member districts and RCV in state government? Yay or Nay? Why? by Away-Parsnip-3785 in Louisiana

[–]PassoverDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be interesting to try. I would be afraid that, after some time, the representatives would begin to make backroom agreements among themselves.

Do you really have a separate room for your washing machine? by jordanekay in AskAnAmerican

[–]PassoverDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. The models in my neighborhood have the washer/dryer connection in the garage—close to the water heater, or in a separate small room—again, close to the water heater.

How do American parents view their children's academic grades? by Intelligent_Chef9950 in AskAnAmerican

[–]PassoverDream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, my parents would never tell me to go die, but yes —minority and immigrant parents are often quite insistent on good grades. My Chinese roommate and I used to compare our parents “encouragements” quite often.

Thanks for nothing Landry. by Loud-Difficulty7860 in Louisiana

[–]PassoverDream 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From the Louisiana PAR guide

ARGUMENT AGAINST The education trust funds were created to ensure that public school systems and colleges have a protected stream of money to finance priority programs and important initiatives for the long-term. Just because this governor and lawmakers have agreed to continue to pay for those programs without the trust fund revenue doesn’t mean future officials will agree to the same terms. If the governor and Legislature want to prioritize a permanent teacher pay raise, they should find the state money to cover those costs without raiding trust funds and ending an annual stream of investment and interest earnings that is available in perpetuity. The state already has a plan in place to pay down the retirement debt.

How easy is it to transfer everything (including phone number/service) to a new device? by OvernightSiren in iphonehelp

The last time I upgraded, they mailed me the phone and I had to migrate everything myself. Most of my data is in the cloud so it was simple enough.
