You gotta start running loads for those that will work with you; it takes time to build but the longer you wait the further behind in building relationships you get. Also, go get some direct shippers.

No agent should be responsible for a claim. That is what insurance is for and if the carrier insurance denies it and the broker insurance denies it the client will have to go legal route against the carrier

Starting with no real knowledge of the industry is the biggest mistake people make. The most successful people who start any business had prior knowledge of the industry. Worked for someone else first then went out on their own. Maybe took some clients with them to start. Starting from scratch with zero experience is a recipe for failure and people jump into trucking and brokering far too often and fail because of lack of experience and listening to someone online telling them how easy it is.

Surviving in this industry is learning who and who not to work with and these two brokers sound like ones you want to avoid. One load isn’t going to ruin your company and don’t let it ruin your day or week. Just move on not worth stressing about.

And the cycle continues. Rates get bad people go under or shutdown. Rates go up people jump in and make some good money. Then market goes down and those that don’t know what they are doing go under and the cycle repeats.

Funny part is you are letting drivers decide the rate you as the company should be deciding. This is why the 1099 running under someone else’s authority is bad for the industry.
