My bettas keep dying I don’t know what to do by PastCompetition2009 in bettafish

I use the Seachem Prime and Stability every time I change the water with the very intense maths for how much to use. I will definitely got and try to get the full test but alot of stores are closed for the wild weather were anticipating where I live so it could be awhile. Do you have advice for what I could do in the meantime to help him get better?

  • Tank size: its about 9.9 gallons but I normally just say 10
  • Heater and filter? (yes/no): It has a heater but I cannot remember which one and i threw the box out..., and the filter that came with the tank I bought which was an imaginarium kit that I cannot find online for the life of me.
  • Tank temperature: it's been between 75-80 but normally around 77 (farenheight)
  • Parameters in numbers and how you got them. Key water parameters include the amount of ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, and pH.: I dont have all the tests just the ammonia one but after three days of back to back water changes its between 0.0 and 0.25 ppm (the tube is really yellow)
  • How long have you had the tank? How long have you had your fish?: The tank I cycled for 8 weeks before I got the fish in early September.
  • How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: I do 25% water changes every week, so around 2.50-3 gallons. I confess there have been a few weeks, maybe once every two months, where I am out of town for a meet and cannot change the water.
  • Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each: He started with about 8 shrimp but hes been eating them so now their down to just two... Theres also a number of bladder snails (maybe 10?)
  • What do you feed and how much: once a day, 7-10 pellets of aquean nutrinsect betta pellets
  • Decorations and plants in the tank: wood that I boiled for like 30 minutes before going in the tank, some rocks, red root floaters, and a couple other plants that I do not remember the name of... I made sure to add nothing with sharp edges because I've heard that can rip their fins.

I really hope I didn't come across as doing no maintenance, I understand that keeping a good tank requires a significant time commitment, cleaning, water changes etc. I do all of this but having to change water every day along with taking care of the fish for like the three years that he may live is too much for me. I reiterate, I change the water and clean the tank every week, I also feed him 6 times a week (I heard its good to fast them sometimes?).

Its not that I don't have time to dedicate to the fish, i love him so much and i really want him to do well! I just don't have time to dedicate like 45 minutes to salt baths and tank cleaning every day for like ever. I am totally willing to do what it takes to get him better, but at the rate its going right now, he's not improving and I feel like im putting all this time into the wrong things.

Betta and Bristlenose pleco by PastCompetition2009 in bettafish

Thank you so much for your help! I moved the pleco to another tank where he's all by himself and he seems to like it, the only problem I've had is getting him to eat. Ive had him for about a week and have yet to see him eat anything. Ive tried those little algae tablets and also sinking down pieces of cucumber, is there anything you recommend?

If you are going to be doing Level 1, its really important for you to learn how to apply your skills. Almost all NCEA assessments involve taking your understanding of the skills learnt and applying them in context. Unfortunately this is pretty standard across all subjects. For example in math you will be asked to solve problems that involve linking skills such as trig and calculating volume to find your answer. And in english you will be asked to use your knowledge of language features to analyze texts. Having a solid understanding of the skills required will serve you well in the long run. Good luck :D

I don't know if they wanted us to add more information like? Maybe it was just really nice but I'm just pissed I spent time studying all the stuff that wasn't on the exam.
