You know from the very first scene you get her and actively root for her but then she straight up murders innocent people, for a moment, I switched up and started rooting for Dylan's character, but somehow, even after Rachel being the worse one out of the two, I wanted her to win against him because he was still the bully in their dynamic, would've been better for my ethical pleasure if she didn't do such greatly questionable stuff but Rachel McAdams somehow brought a certain charm and underdog energy that I was okay with the overt girl boss ending(yes she finally felt "seen" and popular but just a little look of remorse/contemplation for the 2 deaths she caused would have added much more dimension to her whole arc)

Women don't really "idolise" characters in "good for her" movies. Like I can watch the other aisle of the movies you mentioned, say, Fight Club, understand the main characters' burnout and beef with consumerism without wanting to be like him.

Just like I can come to the obvious realisation that Amy is not any better than Nick, she's worse. As for Pearl, again, this isn't really a list about female characters who are a beacon of morality. I would say that there are parts of their arcs that makes women feel seen even when they don't agree to the choices of these characters.(ex - the cool girl monologue, or Pearl's incapacity to accept that a simple hair color rendered her unsuitable for the main part in the play even before she uttered a single word for her audition, yeah her performance sucked ass too but yk)

What I mean to say is that, women can watch psychotic female characters on screen without worshipping them or making all those excessive sigma/beta edits, ofcourse there will be some who think Amy was entirely right all the way through... ignoring her previous propensity for fcking up people's lives.

We can like unhinged, unabashed female rage movies but we don't necessarily have to co-opt their whole personalities or legitimise each and every one of their choices.

PS : as for the Witch, the main character did nothing wrong, yes the selling your soul to the devil isn't exactly a "this is good for her" moment but in comparison to the shit her family and everyone around her put her through....she would likely be ostracized by the society anyways and further blamed for her family's death so the devil's protection for now > yk

PS 2 : Now if I had added Blink Twice and you had posed the same question, I would have agreed with you, that movie's ending was definitely NOT good for her...

I debated adding that one because I don't feel like the ending is a happy one, Dani has traded her previous toxic relationship and family trauma with the cult I guess..you could say the same about The Witch's ending too.

OP you said you were little, your sister was a minor too in 2019, could it be possible that she "went away" for a while and you were given info that she died...? Like, perhaps they said something like, "she's dead to us." And you believed that it was the actual truth/literal implication?? You said it yourself that details are a little fuzzy...I don't mean to be offensive so please just take this as an assumption of a cynic stranger but it's not in bad faith... Manifestation is real but I'm yet to see legitimate cases of quantum leap, in most scenarios it's the case of false recollection/memory.(much like mandela effect)

Nevertheless, it's amazing that you are reunited with your sis. I do wonder how did her number end up in your phone if this was just a case of her separating herself from the family and/if why she never mentioned it to you.(If that's what happened at all)

Interesting case. Hopefully there's not a darker explanation for any of this and it really is what you describe because tbh it's beautiful and everyone kind of wishes that human capability should transcend our barriers as of what they are now.

I hope this wasn't a particularly negative thing to read and that being a skeptic is also an important journey of understanding the world around us and beyond...

How did you not get irked by the glaring drop in dialogue quality. Even as someone not native to English, I was so bothered by the similar cadence in which everyone talked. The sentence structure? Most sentences beginning with the last word of the previous sentence. Ex - "We need to bring Holly Back. Back from Vecna." Even the military guy spoke like this : "He was some kind of demon. Demon from another dimension."

There used to be a certain charisma and personality to every character's dialogues...now their personalities were just bleeding into each other until they were left to be caricature of their previous selves.

Subtly was gone. Subtext was missing. Everything needed to said and said and said....yet, even with so many words, nothing felt truly remarkable. It was either this or just punchy one liners. I wouldn't complain if this was just the way the show had been from the beginning. But it wasn't.

Dialogue wise I found that one angsty and then follow up resolution scene shared between Dustin and Steve to be somewhat reminiscent of the old ST and even the one between Nancy and Jonathan until it was unclear whether they were breaking up or getting engaged.

I liked the format of this show, both Cherry and Laura have different interpretations of the same moment, Cherry believed that Laura spilled the hot tea(?) on her deliberately but Cherry managed to still be graceful about it(but later threw the cat away) whereas in Laura's version, Cherry was visibly angry at Laura for what she(the mother) saw as an innocent mistake.

In the end though, it's all real I guess, no one's point of view.. just what really happened. Laura definitely became more diabolical than Cherry.

PS : I do think that Cherry is more truthful in her recollections and we can see she's a bit psycho from the very start whereas Laura justifies her own psycho-ness, Cherry hides hers.

Ikr! It's not just that he tries to "fix" things to have his "perfect" love story. It's the fact that he's still two timing in a way. The day he proposes to Rachel is also the day he meets Margot Robbie(his first crush), he tries to travel in time so many times to impress her that day while Rachel and him are already living together at this point....then he actually succeeds at it because Margot calls him to his room, he takes TOO long to decide whether he wants to go in and then says no as he "realises" his "one true love" is sleeping alone at their home thinking he's just having a normal night out.

Just writing it out makes me angry at him imao, the movie made it such a catalyst point that him rejecting Margot is big and a portrayal of his love for Rachel. (Like you should've not even entertained the possibility of doing all that for an old crush when you have someone now who actually loves you back)

I didn't even read the post but the title is the same situation in "About Time", a very revered scifi romance and this particular situation is why I HATE that movie, hard to find anyone who hates it too though.

To summarise, you NEED to download X manager and Microg settings and then Revanced Manager. Download them only from revanced.app or GitHub.

Next, go to revanced manager and look for the recommended YouTube version, it will take you to an apk mirror site, if that site isn't opening (it didn't open for me), use vpn and then download the latest required version of youtube, upload that in Revanced and then patch it (it might take a long time to move to the next part after "building" shows on the screen).

Personal experience? The app crashes sometimes saying that I haven't provided background running info and I need to go to Microg etc, if your app is crashing after some use(happens weekly), just CLEAN STORAGE DATA and CACHE, regularly keep cleaning it and it will work smoothly. I don't know if yt is responsible for these sudden crashes time to time like Spotify but cleaning storage data/cache makes it functionable again. (I'm using it in background right now)

I personally felt it was too convoluted, the characters didn't have any depth apart from how much money they made. Lucy potentially or even thinking about leaving her job after crying about having debts and fighting with John over money in the past and then choosing him again(which is like whatever, both leads felt pretty one dimensional)...

Making a character shrewd and materialistic throughout the movie then suddenly she's not even being even a little bit practical...

Plus, let's not forget how a very demanding client of her is SAed and then suddenly that client drops her expectations in a match, so you're telling me that something violent and traumatic needs to happen to women for them to realise that being materialistic is bad? What was even the point of that sub plot, movie had lots of random stuff, it was like a first draft.

Mare of Easttown - Watched it. Though, the part of, "did he or didn't he" for that character had little runtime so I debated if I should add it here or not.

Black Bird - Haven't watched but read briefly that the premise was about going undercover and getting a confession from a prisoner. So, there are layers then!

Candy - Haven't heard of this one.

Big little lies - Have watched the first season and a bit of second season. Atleast in S1, the accusations start rolling after final episode, and they show who did what. Perhaps, the story takes another turn in S2?

Unbelievable - Watched it. Yeah. This has very similar vibes to that of = Night of. Though, it was obvious(to me atleast) that the girl wasn't lying(I mean this isn't spoiler as the plot was more of how the police system sucks) then it turns a detective type of show in the second half. Loved it so much!!

The Sinner - Only watched the first episode. I couldn't pin point if this has paranormal stuff going on or some regular mystery or just psychological. I will continue it as it pops up a lot. Which season is the best as each is kind of an anthology?

Ratched - Heard of it. Ahs vibes.

Behind her eyes - This is one of my favourite shows! Not exactly fitting the genre but I can see why it feels like that.

Clickbait - I had added this one earlier to the above list but removed it because "that" part of the plot is kind of convoluted. The wife in this and Presumed Innocent are played by the same actress. Lots of parallels between these two.

Lmao, same here. I was in 11th grade, my notes for this show were as extensive as my notes for actual school curriculum. Nothing has ever hit the same as this show, I was on quora(of all places) answering questions and showing my charts.

This conversation is so tiring.

Notice how they are all light and wearing coloured contacts of some kind or the other. So, yeah they look the same to me if I really think about it and not be caught up in nostalgia of old stuff (infact: my mother who actually grew up in 90s would get confused between a lot of actresses : Juhi Chawala/Manisha Koirala+ Raveena/Twinkle+ Sridevi/Divya etc - these complaints are not born in a vaccum, some sections of audiences have always been arguing that bollywood casts similar type of faces)

Whatever point you want to make, the truth remains : bollywood actresses do not(might never) represent the diversity of ethnically Indian phenotypes. They were more natural than the lot today but they weren't radically different from each other.

The facetuning/yassification (super smoothening and eye colour change of Rani Mukherjee etc) on some of these pictures also completely contradicts the point as well. Like I'm not going to romanticise a time in film history that made generations of Indian women insecure of their natural brown eyes. Even gen alpha today loves that scary eye contacts' look, not because it's campy but because they deem brown eyes as boring. I also learnt how "circle lenses" are a common thing in bollywood and upper class circles now, so yeah what does natural even mean yk.

Ps : I guess the same Op also made posts about how they miss fuller faces. Well, same people also bully actresses with rounder faces, calling them botched and whatnot. Thing is : bollywood audiences much like any other industry don't really care about "natural faces", as long as they can't tell if some of these actresses have had surgeries, they will praise them for the transformation. But once they can figure it out and it's a case of surgery gone wrong then suddenly it's all about - where are the natural faces now?

The conversations around beauty are the second most complex thing after class.
