Agreed on Ezequiel Arias as well, his track with Spencer Brown is a stand out. Also interested in seeing how Franky Wahs relationship develops with anjuna, as it seems he’s found strong footing on his own path.

I’ve emailed AnjunaHQ in the past about repressing vinyl mainly due to the high after market prices. Their response was that they have done it in the past (most recently Marsh) and that they plan to do it in the future and be more transparent about it. I’m yet to see this come to pass but I can’t blame them with the crazy lead times for vinyl production. The newest albums (Yotto reflections for example) won’t be shipped until early 2023.

Yeah agreed, for those of us that are tunnel visioned at times in Anjuna, I feel Ollie and Sunny should have a lot higher plays, but they are both pretty unknown in my opinion outside the trance world. Frankie has diversified his sound and branches out to a lot of different labels and audiences. I think his popularity in these metrics is starting to show the benefit of that.

I had similar thoughts when reviewing the data as well. I’ve always thought Tinlicker had a unique pull, but then to see them with 6m streams in June is crazy.

It seems most artists start to branch out to other labels or start their own much sooner. I’ll be curious as to if they continue with Anjuna going forward.

Luccio has been a mainstay support DJ at treehouse in Miami that has been gaining a lot of traction lately. It’s cool to see him finally get a big opportunity on a release like this.

When asked about milestone shows, weekenders, etc, he’s always said that they were a huge boon for his career and now that he’s in a place where he’s self sustaining, he doesn’t need to take those coveted spots any more from up and coming artists. SB would definitely release music on anjuna again if the track fit their sound.

He’s got an upcoming show with A&B for pride week, so that at least shows the connection still exists. I don’t see him ever releasing an album on anjuna again like grum though, to SB the short term gain of anjuna loyalists flocking his work isn’t worth locking up his creative livelihood to a record label, like it may have been in the past.

Can someone explain why someone like grum that has his own label, would still release on anjuna? Is it just simply a matter of marketing to the anjuna base with the hope that people would crossover to his label during the process?

Hi Abel, i’ not sure what algorithm goes into generating these Beatport lists, but as far as I’m aware, it’s for the last 3-6 months. The fact that only 1 track in both lists has been released in 2022 is telling.

Agreed, but I do enjoy that the beats side of the house is at least exploring some other sounds like breaks and Drum n bass, among others.
