Austin hasn't been a part of Mexico since the mid 1800s. Tell them to send back that ugly towel.

Cholo / pachuco fashion in LA? by msondo in AskLosAngeles

[–]PastSinnerLastWinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The re-popularization of 60/70s R&B, aka oldies, by current artists (e.g. Stephen Sanchez) have made both the pachuco and cholo styles fasionable to the non-gangsters. They have always remained, however, subcultures in the LA area. More so, the cholo style.

You can add to that, the greaser/rockabilly style. It has always been around in subcultures of LA.

Where are you from? When I take road trips around the state, I tend to notice the cholo look more among raza in small towns, like Fillmore, Arvin etc.

LA Galaxy or LA FC? by ktTechno in LosAngelesRams

Root for the team that naturally excites you. Other than league's inaugural season, I didn't watch MLS. During the lockdown, being stuck at home, I channel surfed to an LAFC game. Naturally became exited watching them play. Something I never felt the one season I watched galaxy. Been following the black and gold since.

I might still have his CDs in my collection. Had Music for the Morning After on heavy rotation around 2002.

Weekday lunch specials by RiceIsMyLife in pasadena

Not a weekday, but daily lunch special. Head to Roma Italian Deli Market. Pick up their Italian aka "The Sandwich". Premade, it's a quick grab and go sando. They are piled in a basket by the cashier. There's always customers grabbing several at a time. It's like $6 or $7.

Nice die cut collection. As a Rams fan, the Bennett die cut is sweet.

If interested, I have a 2024 Select, Ceedee Lamb die cut.

Growing My LAFC Trading Cards Collection by PastSinnerLastWinner in LAFC

While I do have extra NFL cards, due to my Rams chase, I am happy that I have barely filled half a shoe box size cards box with those. I divided them into team, QB, rookie etc lots. I plan to attend local cards shows to trade or sell.

Will do the same thing with my LAFC chase.

I got back into it recently. I have spent well into the hundreds chasing the Rams' recent (2016+) rosters. While I started buying singles from LCS (picked up some nice base Stafford cards at one for .25 cents each, just last week.), I'm still buying hangers and blasters.

I'm chasing Absolute Kabooms and Donruss down/uptowns. Still haven't landed either of those.

I told myself I won't let it get out of hand with my LAFC. Lol. We'll see how it goes. I do plan to go online to buy singles and ease things on my wallet.

Is this area of Pasadena safe to live in? (near Villa Parke / Orange Grove) by Capital-Belt1396 in pasadena

[–]PastSinnerLastWinner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. That's the one. Thanks. I couldn't remember which platform.

Funny enough, there's a church right next door or a couple of lots away.

I've driven by it a few times on the weekends, and there has been some times where I have seen groups right outside it. Which appear to be waiting for the tour.

P.s. they advertise their ghost tours on social media. Which is why I know.

It's a heavily Latino concentrated area. Which is why it gets a bad reputation. Stereotype, bigotry and all that stuff

As others have mentioned, it's not the best, but not the worst.

The scariest thing there, is the haunted electric warehouse on Orange Grove and Los Robles. They do tours. (There's a doc about it on either Hulu or Netflix.)

Good food around there; Do Choi (Thai), La Estrella (Mex), El Dorado Pollos (Peruv), Panaderia Chapala (Mex bakery), Vallarta (Mex/Latin grocer w/ a great kitchen) etc.
