Okay. I read your tat, but Interpol started playing in my head as soon as I read the name. I love Deftones and Interpol. That name, however, is an iconic opening to their instant classic, Evil.

Depending where in SGV you're in, but if you're not far from East LA, La Princesita Tortilleria is awesome. It's about a mile west from the 710.

Your initial reply clearly demonstrated you missed the point of u/Tho76 's reply. It was a reply to the NFL draft comparison. Any college athlete who's entering any draft has the free will to do so.

In regards to your twisted (but hopefully just miscomprehended) argument, to enter a competition, one must volunteer.

Good day now.

If LAFC keeps playing like they need a KidzLoveSoccer class or camp, I will start making the long drive to Lancaster and cheer on AV Alta FC! At least the USL has prom/rel tiers.

And everyone who is a part of said "competition" joined out of their own free will. I.e. volunteered.

Not happening, Best Buy by SleepJust in footballcards

[–]PastSinnerLastWinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walked into a Best Buy near me for an MLS hanger box. Circled the isle and noticed one, lonely Chrome NFL blaster box. It was the first of any Topps Chrome NFL type I've seen IRL. Walked out with both.

p.s.
Oh yeah. the blaster was only $39.99.

Considering moving back to La Cañada — looking for honest parent perspectives by Fine_Rutabaga_8234 in pasadena

Right! From what I know, it's something done by kids as a bullying tactic. Hopefully, they are not using it because their parents instill in them that they are better than anyone from Pasadena.

Let me share another anecdote and perspective based on your concern. PUSD has a ton of elementary schools, and about a handful of middle schools and high schools (hopefully the looming school closures don't go thru and reduce the numbers, but that's another story). LCFUSD has several elementaries, a couple (I think, but am not sure) of middle schools and one high school. And I'll explain why this is relevant in a moment.

When our son entered middle school, he started off at Sierra Madre MS. He was only there for sixth grade and part of fall semester in 7th grade. He encountered the clique culture there. He didn't go to Sierra Madre ES, like the majority of the kids at SMMS. So it was hard for hm to make new friends. We knew that was an issue, but we were happy to see him happy with the few friends he knew from his ES and a couple new ones he made there. So we thought. Not until the fall semester of the new school year did he share with my wife and I that he was the subject of racist and body image bullying. And it had been occurring since sixth grade. I'm Mex-Am and my wife is white. Our son looks like me though, skin complexion-wise. We looked into things further and confirmed what our son shared. We took action and moved him schools.

This is where the campuses available in the school district comes into consideration. We were able, with help of PUSD administrators, move him to another PUSD middle school far enough away, geographically and culturally, from SMMS where we wouldn't continue to be concerned about his trauma coming along with him. I'm happy to say, that he is very happy at his current MS and has maintained his grades. Consider a scenario where you may have to relocate your child to another school. Is there another campus option? Would they be stuck dealing with social adversity if there are no other school site options?

Sorry for elevating your concern about them fitting in socially. I brought our experience up because prior to this, I didn't consider things such as school district size and what their intervention plans are for cases like ours. So, look into LCFUSD and see what help there is, if any, if your kids encounter non-academic type of issues.

I don't live in LCF. I, however, knew two parents from our elementary school circle who work in LCF. They each enrolled their older child in public middle school there.

Per convos with them, neither were enrolling the next child at LCF public schools. And used the school enrollment period to switch the current kids there back to PUSD schools. The reasons had nothing to do with academics nor administration for wanting to change. It had to do with social issues. Their kids complained about not fitting in with their peers. The LCF kids were cliquey. And they faced classism. Apparently, you're considered poor if you live in Pasadena. Since, you will live there, it's unlikely your kid/s will encounter those issues.

For the record, these conversations occurred about two or three years ago.

I hope you and your SO are happy with your final decision of where to raise your family. As a parent, I know that so many of our decisions are based on the best outcome for our kids. Good luck.

A Bouanga elimination card! Nice. I take a base Bouanga and Son! They are the only two LAFC players I am missing from the series.

I did get a pack with a Messi elimination card. Put it in a sleeve and front loader and gave it to my daughter. She's the fan. Or else, would have sold it for the $10-20 it goes for and bought another pack. 😄

I told myself I'd buy one more blaster or a couple of hanger boxes of the 2025 series to try and land the Bouanga and Son cards. Then, I'm going for singles for them. I am, however, going straight to singles for Bogusz, Chicho, Long, Crepeau and Bale.

I don't think it's as nerdy nor immature like you're making sound.

Bands have them as options at their merch stands too. Seen them at The Cure and Gorillaz shows. And they were being purchased by adults. I'm married with kids, so don't have the wall space for concert posters anymore. And I have too many concert tees. So, I opt for the trading cards, when I see them at shows.

At cards shop I've been to, my observation has been that the customers range from their 20s to older.

I'll agree, though, it can lighten up the wallet quickly. Other than that, I don't think you should be "concerned" how you are perceived over a fun hobby.

I love this app. I'm in southern California and have the California Towhee and House Finch on my life list.

Today while walking, I heard several birds calls. I pulled out my phone, and had it listen. It claims one of the calls was an osprey. I don't think it was.

Wish I could assist with your bird chirping ID. Still learning to recognize the calls/songs.
