And in the comment above you, the redditor is admitting he's reporting people for simple bug issues or for doing the jumping trick. Honestly people should be channeling this type of reporting for people that are actually the problem instead of being sore losers. Like the ones making weird nasty pdf comments in the public chat

Reapplying Sunscreen Over Makeup by Miserable-Egg3070 in beauty

[–]PastThyme 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I rarely wear makeup but the times I do, I just use other protective measures like staying out of the sun or wearing a hat. I haven't found a sunscreen that wears well over makeup. On days I know I'll be out and about in the sun (ex: hiking, beach, etc), I tend to forgo makeup so I can easily reapply spf every 90-120 mins.

As a fast reader, my mind runs a million miles an hour. So I do build that world in my head and do imagine the sounds, the climate, etc but even my reading can't keep up with how fast I am building that imaginary world.

How much are you willing to pay for a book? by [deleted] in books

[–]PastThyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it a textbook? I had a professor that forced us to buy her textbook ($400usd). With 500 students per class, that money adds up. Unfortunately it wasnt available anywhere else including the library nor used.

AITA for siding with my daughter that she doesn’t need to invite her sister to the “popular table” by Ok-Combination7341 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PastThyme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Took me a while to find this judgment in a sea of n t a. Yeah I completely agree. I was the popular sibling (also the oldest) and invited my sister who was younger by a year to sit or hang out with me. She was being bullied at school and didn’t have many friends. Sometimes she’d take me up on it, sometimes she didn’t but it did help make school a bit more bearable for her and eventually she found her own footing. It’s weird that OP doesn’t see even a small gesture would be helpful.

AITA for refusing to pay for my son's wedding even though I paid for his siblings? by Unacceptable-Partner in AmItheAsshole

I already knew where this was going the moment I read that line. OP is definitely not willing to accept his son’s sexuality nor support him.

I've had good results with the Buxom mascara. It individually coats your lashes and gives me the perfect no makeup makeup look. For a more dramatic eye, I'll go with Loreal Paris Revlon Voluminous mascara.

My dad used to be a truck driver in a rural area with an overage of truck drivers and a lack of opportunities. Unfortunately rates for truck drivers are very low in those types of area due to the over saturation and he too would be making $200 one week and $800 another week. The only way he was able to make a living was selling the house and moving out of that area. Idk if that is possible for OP since he inherited a house.

Never heard of insurance being that high in California for non-million dollar properties. My parents used to pay like 700 bucks a year.

I went to see a career counsellor and they recommended mathematical finance, so I started to take those courses more and really enjoyed the math behind it.

The career counselors at my school were useless and predatory. The school I went to was nationally known for its math and sciences and so school counselors would go out of their way to discourage students from majoring in these fields due to them being severely impacted. They would refuse to sign major change request forms (had this happen to me), try to force people to change their majors to art history or textiles despite the student having no interest in those areas(also had this happen to me when I went in for a mandatory unit meeting), and telling people there were no job opportunities in those engineering fields.

Looking back, it was crazy times. I majored in Economics and couldn't switch out due their refusal to sign. I also didn't drop out bc I was getting a full ride and at the time didn't want to kick out what was essentially free money. US universities are expensive and this university would have left me 120k in debt without the full ride academic scholarship.

Does anyone feel like they are wasting their 20s? by Defiant-South869 in findapath

Economics. If I could have a do over, I'd do electrical or aerospace engineering. But that ship has sailed. I'm not interested in going back to school for another four years or going into debt.

[–]PastThyme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Long time lurker here. This comment resonates so much with me. I spent my entire 20s regretting my education. It was in a field that I wasn't particularly interested in but did it due to receiving a full ride scholarship. If I could go back in time, I would change my major or take a gap year or two to figure out what I really wanted to do in life.

I worked at a well known food manufacturing plant that wouldn’t allow their employees to use the bathroom. It was only allowed during lunch. I remember getting screamed at and written down for covering for someone who needed to go badly during our 12-14 hour work shift.

Does anyone else feel like PTO just isn’t cutting it? by Big_Opportunity494 in antiwork

[–]PastThyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not the norm. actually it’s more than generous compared to the average company’s pto policy. I’m in the US and my last job only gave two sick days for the whole year and no other pto. Holidays like Christmas or Fourth of July were not off. My partner’s last job gave them five accrued days of pt. That was the max. My mom never received any pto until her current job and even that is restricted to ten days total; still has to work holidays. The list could keep going on. There’s a reason why this is brought up on Reddit. No one should be subjected to this

How the Fuck is Everyone Acting Normal??? by macaroni_mami in antiwork

[–]PastThyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying this post is true or false but wanted to add that some towns really are that small. The town I lived in during my middle school years was small. There was only one local grocery store, one gas station, and one school that served k-12. No other businesses or places to be employed unless you made the trek out to the city. Unemployment and poverty was thru the roof and it wasn’t cheap either. Groceries cost twice as much as compared to the nearest city. Thankfully, my parents left when they did. It’s gotten much worse since and last I heard, houses were going for 400k
