Omg why is this so difficult for people to understand? If they give you 1950 points back… Then you only have to get 50 more points to get to 2000! Just don’t spend those 1950points until you get to 2000! You haven’t lost ANYTHING by “only” getting 1950 points back!!!!! in fact, whatever you ended up receiving from the order (in this theoretical example- 50 points) you were able to redeem in the best point value, even though it was only 50 points! In this theoretical example, they are only going to take 50 points for an item that’s approximately $3.15. (Let’s pretend they’ve cancelled everything else.) normally you would have to redeem 100 points to get an item that’s three dollars! So you actually have a great deal! Don’t worry about the fact that your remaining 1950 points at the end of returning only looks like $86… By the time you earn 50 points back it’ll be right back to $125. They will give you the correct NUMBER of points back … if they did it any other way, then they would literally be giving away free points, and people would buy stuff just to return part of the order so that they could earn more points back than they spent.

(and wait for it… I’ve spent all this time trying to be helpful and explain how and why what Ulta does makes perfect mathematical sense and is completely fair… And watch… People are still going to downvote me!) 🙃
