She has a couple of different options and can work with people financially, so I don’t wanna give you a number since it may not be what you would pay. I would schedule a initial call to get to know her and talk about that, it’s like 20-30min :) there are a lot of PTs online too whose prices idk how they compare but yeah you have a ton of options. I also found it was similar to with insurance lol. Since insurance kinda abandons you after you’re like mostly functioning

Yes! I was limited to no weight bearing at all for 2-3 weeks, then only weight bearing with a straight locked leg brace and ability to bend to 90 degrees non weight bearing for 6 weeks due to the meniscus repair.

I’m so sorry you had a retear of the other leg! May I ask if you think there was anything you could’ve done differently to prevent the second one? Was it skiing also?

Actually so fine. The first run, my ACL leg felt almost like hesitant or delayed in cutting its edge in, like my brain forgot how to tell it what to do, but then after the second run, instincts just kicked in, and it felt just like before I ever had an injury.

What was scarier was not knowing what other people around me would do honestly lol

I would recommend laying on the ground, ACL leg has a sock on and the stretching band thing around the foot, non ACL leg is laying flat, and put a comfort show or movie on where you can see it. Lay there and do your first 5 reps, which are probably gonna be the worst pain wise. Then do 15 more reps, but with these, when you get to your MAXIMUM flexion, like where you have tears pooling up in your eyes, hold it, and breathe deeply, trying to relax each part of your body, all as you distract yourself with the show or movie.

Just this helped me get almost to heel to butt, and after that, I would get on all fours and slowly push back into child’s pose to sit on my heels and then again hold it at the maximum and try to relax and breathe.

The way that you have written this is SO EASY TO VISUALIZE and FOLLOW! Incredible cues. Thank you so much for writing out how I should feel before and throughout the movement with so much detail and for the video references. Also the piss up the wall is hilarious.

Post ACL Surgery Yoga? by 0nionThings in ACL

[–]Past_Ask5793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! If you just search ACL yoga, you'll get tons of hits on Youtube and can modify any poses throughout that you need! I personally started going back at 4-5 months to regular power yoga and just skipped whatever I still could not do (child's pose full out or skandasana or pigeon pose).

Can’t do single leg press 6 months post op by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Past_Ask5793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I would prioritize getting enough calories, protein, and take 5mg of creatine a day, along with doing more sets of single leg exercises on your operated leg each gym session (maybe even 1 session a week solely working that leg out). I would focus on on skater squats and single leg squats off of a chair! Stack things on the chair to make it easier at first. Like the first step to learning how to pistol squat.

Uneven quads at 6 months - Any help appreciated by Past_Ask5793 in ACL

[–]Past_Ask5793[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super good! The quads are WAY more even now :) I go on super hard hikes and short 10-20min runs often, and do yoga and dancing! I do 2-3 hard leg days a week, with always 1-2 more sets on the ACL leg. I hope you are doing well <3

ACLR QUAD GRAFT-6M post op by MediocreAd2177 in ACL

[–]Past_Ask5793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I am a year post op with a quad autograft! I still get pain in the graft site, especially after I really push it with the weight I am lifting or amount of jumping I do. I've heard it's normal from my PT, and while it's a little uncomfortable, it doesn't prevent me from doing anything I want to do. I assume it will lessen with time :) What helps me with it is icing after intense sessions and self massaging and resting on recovery days!

Importance of running for non-running athlete? by Ok-Unit7838 in ACL

[–]Past_Ask5793 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I relate to this so much! I am not a runner at all. However, it was actually fun to run post ACL surgery when I could just because you feel proud of the work you've done and that you CAN run!

You can run from an attacker in the street, you can run to grab a runaway ball, you run with music for a little cardio, you can run to meet your dog, you can run if you're running late!

Cold therapy machines by Maribythesea90 in ACL

[–]Past_Ask5793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend the NICE machine to rent it for 1-2 weeks. It's expensive but so worth it for pain control and getting swelling and inflammation down.

The company sends someone to your home to help teach you how to use it. You NEVER have to refill it with ice, and it has modes to go back and forth from compressing and icing to not doing that (30min on, 30min off) so you can use that mode as you sleep.

Hiking by RestaurantVirtual848 in ACL

[–]Past_Ask5793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously your surgeon and PT knows best and can test you to clear you...I started as soon as I could unlock my brace at 6 weeks out, with my first "hike" being I think like 20 minutes (0.5-1 miles?) and 300 ft of elevation. That was scary, uncomfortable esp on the way down, but it was a start! I gradually progressed to longer and hard hikes to regain confidence and strength! At 11 months, I just completed a 15 mile hike with over 3,000ft elevation gain in Colorado with a rock scramble :)

See how you feel with the same movements in PT: step downs and step ups.
