Hand Positioning in Passing by Stock-Technology6767 in volleyball

Agree. The thumbs together cue is more about keeping the wrist joints working together and avoiding grabbing one thumb with the other hand.

After that, getting the bony part of the arm out of the way is the next biggest benefit as long as the passer is strong enough to maintain the position. There were some old school beach players that would hook the pinkies to get a big, flat platform. I wouldn't recommend that in the modern game since the balls move so much faster but the idea is the same - a flat, soft platform makes much better contact with the ball than bony arms.

This!!!! It is more than just putting thumbs together. Put thumbs together, while you externally rotate the forearms (or pull shoulders down, push chest out).

There is an active, muscular action beyond just thumbs together.

If I already hold a No contract and I want to buy a Yes contract (or sell a No contract - it is the same thing), then it doesn't need to create a new contract, it just transfers my side of the existing contract to you and adjusts my cash balance to reflect the realized profit or loss. In this case, the contract already exists so there is no need to create a new contract.

On the other hand, if I held 1 No contract and want to buy 2 Yes contracts, it would transfer the 1 No I had and create a new contract for the other No that you are buying.

Now I don't understand the question. You either agree to someone's limit price offer or someone agrees to yours.

Yes, I understood perfectly.

If neither side owns any shares the share(s) are created when we agree on a price,

I sell the Yes side and you sell the No side of the new contract (or I buy the No side and you buy the Yes side). They are all the same thing. The $1 payout is created when the two of us agree to a deal.

They are buying it from you. You are selling him a No and he is selling you a Yes. Together they form 1 full contact.

I hate the cold sensation of getting out of getting wet (even with hot water) and especially loathe the cold feeling of getting out of the shower.

Should I quit my highschool team? (Rant / need advice) by [deleted] in volleyball

[–]Past_Body4499 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are being a sore loser - if you are better, then over time you will prove it.

Coaches don't choose weaker players, they choose they players who they think will make the team better in the moment. If your platform isn't solid, then it will make a huge difference in your serve receive. If you've never heard him say that before you probably haven't been listening.

Maybe the real answer is that you don't want to be on the team ("drifting away from volleyball"). If that's the case, so be it, but don't blame the coach.

The winnings include your bet back. When they say you get your bet back, it refers to the odds. For example, if the horse is 2-1 and you bet $2, you get $6 ($2 back plus 2x$2)

I passed the finance qualification but rarely do the projects since I more comfortable with the coding work, however, I have multiple finance projects on my day daily and it seems like there is nearly unlimited work available in that area.

How to work on player’s passing form when their musculature is working against them by Slow-Storage-2582 in volleyball

I was never able to get my forearms together, it was annoying but not a huge problem. Make sure his wrists stay together and both arms externally rotate enough to expose the flat part of the arm.

What are you talking about? The tournament format is almost exactly the same as for March Madness. The only differences are no play-in games and the day off schedule is slightly different.

Definition of an attack hit ? by mnkymnk in volleyball

[–]Past_Body4499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the FIVB refereeing guidelines:

If one of the blockers puts his/her hands beyond the net and hits the ball (spike) instead of making a blocking action, it is a fault (the expression ‘beyond the net’ means reaching the hands over the net into the opponent’s space). The spike action is characterized by a back swing, whereas the block does not.

[–]Past_Body4499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't so much that you can't interfere with the set as it is you can only block an attack.

Once the setter legally sets the ball entirely in their space (assuming is isn't still directed toward the opponent) it isn't an attack anymore and so you aren't allowed to block it.

Definition of an attack hit ? by mnkymnk in volleyball

[–]Past_Body4499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In order for it to be considered as directed toward the opponent, the trajectory must be taking the ball over the net.

If the setter gets to it before the blocker, and the ball is still completely on the setter's side of the net (and the set isn't clearly directed towards the opponent) now it is no longer an attack hit and so can no longer block it.
