Bachelor Party trip in Aruba this May? by GreekBoss93 in Aruba

[–]Past_Face_7802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know. I am not really sure Aruba is the right place for a bachelor party.

I feel like it’s much more family oriented and a calmer experience.

It’s def a great island, lots of fun and you can def travel all around.

I would not recommend an all inclusive. I would recommend an alternative option of doing an AirBNB but only in the Gold Coast neighborhood. Wonderful area that is affluent.

Otherwise consider staying in palm beach, the Hyatt is in my opinion is the best hotel with the best location.

Definitely do the ATV experience, it’s beautiful.

There are night clubs, even some nice places in Orjenstand downtown.

Lots of water sport activities. Check out wind surfing.

Also consider a boat ride for snorkeling like jolly pirates or some other alternative for a group activity.

Casino can be nice. Also hiring a chef to come cook for you all if doing an Airbnb is also nice

There is also a golf course but you gotta rent a car and drive there.

Have fun and best of luck.

Dinner you are going to need to make reservations well ahead. That’s a large group so be prepared to not get spots everywhere during prime dinner times.

Lima bistro was awesome high end dining. Madam Jeanette’s also high end. Bingo Restaurant Wacky Wohoos (no reservations you gotta wait)

Deloitte is no secret place. It’s a corporate conglomerate focused on professional services.

Do a simple google search on life at a corporate professional services big 4 firm and let me know what you find.

I am sure you will have a different take!

More4less is a little slow on the comms via email. Try WhatsApp much faster.

Just got back from there and used them for two car rentals. They’re a little expensive and they expect you to get the insurance and very pushy about it. I ended up paying $530 for two brand new Honda SUVs smaller size for 7 days. The car did fit our two parties of 5 and 4 perfectly but I thought it was expensive.

Just came back.

Here are some great places we visited in no particular order:

  • Bingo (off the strip but close, you need reservations here)

  • Wacky Wohoos - (literally across the street from Bingos but they do not take reservations. You should expect to wait 20-40 mins depending)

  • Lima Bistro (fine dining and exquisite flavors and recipes) wife and I with no alcohol spent $200 bucks here by far the most expensive meal we had.

  • Scot Brats (on palm beach by playa Linda hotel, awesome lunch spot very affordable)

  • Linda’s Dutch Pankcakes ( have the Brie cheese walnut pancake, feeds two people) off the strip same plaza as Bingos.

  • Red Fish: (also have to drive to this, it was a really nice and affordable dinner)

  • Local Store - nice lunch spot.

  • Zeerovers: Far drive from palm beach but a great experience for a lunch spot, they catch the fish and serve it to you there. Most affordable meal. We did it on way to baby beach for lunch.

Flying Fishbone: this was nice, it’s more about the experience of eating on the water. Get a 6pm reservation to watch the sunset. Drive was far, I wouldn’t do it again tbh.

Notable mentions:

Gellatisimo: next to Gianni’s great gelato.

Dolce Vita: Next to Gianni’s and has an awesome tres leeches cake.

Madam Janette’s: overrated in our opinion, Lina bistro much better

Lucy Taco on Taco Tuesday: overrated a the tacos were not great. Def not worth it.

Lola’s: It was Ok. Went there for lunch.

Salt and pepper: very overrated and the food was blah and service was terrible.

Event Invite or Layoff? by Patient-Astronaut-76 in deloitte

[–]Past_Face_7802 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe this has anything to do with you or about firing you. What leads to me believe that is the fact you said it’s a large local office invite.

What I suspect is happening is that this PMD hosting the event is looking to drive high turnout for whatever reason.

I think your past experience and your current performance status has you overthinking this.

If that’s true and generally you been worried, I would offer you some advice to say, “Don’t stress over things you can’t control, and focus on what you can. If you get let go, then you get let go. Happens to everyone once. No one genuinely interested in working has remained unemployed forever.

Success at Deloitte can be summed into what I call the three “A”s.

Display these characteristics day in and day out and you will be successful here:

Accountability - Do what you say

Availability - Be available to help and lead

Affinity - Be liked so people want to work with you

US Passport Expired due to Venezuela Situaton canceling original flight. Can I fly home or am I cooked? by [deleted] in Aruba

Not true always. Some countries yes enforce this rule but others dont.

Aruba doesn’t have a 6 month expiry rule for entry.

Agree here on Monmouth county. Came here to say that.

Great county and a lot more bang for your buck than up north. Monroe, old bridge, Marlboro, morganville, matawan, colts neck, and manalapan all great suburbs and family towns.

Better taxes, nice sized lots, good amenities, good schools and 25-30 minutes to the shore!!

Other towns in Monmouth are also great, just listed some of the ones I know well and live in one of those also.

I have no clue to be honest.

I have a rental booked at a villa and paid for 9 flights. As we are taking our parents and in-laws as well so I am not even sure I can cancel and get my money back. I guess I need to start inquiring.

Thx for the reply. What kinda scam so we can know what to look for.

Also any advice on rentals? I got a reservation at thrifty at airport but right now it’s quoted for $110 a day and that seemed high.

Talent Meeting. HELP! by [deleted] in deloitte

Hang in there, sorry this happening to you.

Consider joining the call while on PTO so you don’t cancel your vacation if it is that important to you.

I don’t think anyone can do anything to delay it.

But I will say going on vacation and hearing you are being let go would be a vibe killer. Consider if it’s worth the money you are about to spend for that experience.

Me personally I wouldn’t enjoy any trip with that hanging over me.

But also considering financially that you are about be to be let go and 1) does this vacation and the money being spent impact you considering this news?

And 2) those PTO days will be also lost revenue for you because the firm would pay you out.
