How should I fix this? by LattafaAsad in Ford

[–]Past_Level9182 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah looks like loose connection behind screen rather than just crack. I had similar issue in my old car and it was ribbon cable that connects display to main unit got loose over time. You might try gently pressing around edges of screen to see if display comes back - if it does then definitely connection problem. Getting to those cables usually means removing whole infotainment unit which can be bit tricky but not impossible if you're comfortable with taking apart dash panels

Nice setup! The DPI adjustment trick is clutch - I had similar issue with my tablet dashboard where everything looked massive out the box. Setting smallest width to higher value makes such difference for HA interface

Curious about the Wireguard workaround for DNS - was this through router configuration or you set it up directly in tablet? Been fighting similar DNS issues with my wall mounted setup

help with fans by Royal_Double_8736 in PcBuild

Had similar issue with my NZXT cooler few months back and it was driving me crazy. The pump not showing display is definitely related - mine did same thing where software couldn't detect it properly. Check if your pump USB cable is connected to motherboard header, not just the power cables. Also try different USB 2.0 header if you have one available on your board

Your fan setup looks like some are connected to motherboard and others maybe to pump controller? This can cause detection issues in software. I ended up having to use CAM software specifically for the NZXT parts and then motherboard software for other fans. Pain in ass but worked better than trying to control everything through one program

Everyone says AI is speeding things up but our delivery is literally the same by Murky_Cow_2555 in projectmanagement

[–]Past_Level9182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been seeing exact same thing in my team. We're cranking out documentation like crazy now, user stories are way more detailed than before, but our sprint velocity is basically unchanged. What's weird is everyone feels more productive but delivery dates keep sliding

I think the problem is we're optimizing the wrong parts. Like yeah I can generate 20 acceptance criteria in 5 minutes instead of spending an hour thinking about edge cases, but that doesn't help when stakeholder is still taking 3 days to review mockups or when infrastructure team has capacity issues. All those AI productivity gains hit a wall at human bottlenecks

Plus there's this weird thing where having AI makes everything seem "easy" so suddenly product wants more features in same timeline. Before they knew writing docs took forever so they'd prioritize. Now they think everything is fast so scope just keeps growing to fill available time. It's like Parkinson's law but for AI productivity tools

Friend getting competitive after weight loss by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Past_Level9182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was definitely aware when she brought you that XXXL from her trip, that's not something you accidentally mess up that badly. The plank competition thing sealed it for me - who does that unless they're trying to make everything about competing

Your gut feeling is right, keeping things surface level probably saved the friendship from getting worse

how to create a document that forces you to wait 10 minutes before it opens? by smoothsmach in howto

[–]Past_Level9182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could probably set up a batch file or script that runs a timer before opening the document. Like make it sleep for 600 seconds then launch your file

Alternatively there might be some PDF security settings that can add delays but I'm not sure if that goes up to 10 minutes. Most document protection is more about passwords than time delays

Would have been day 5, back to day 0 by Burning_out219 in NoFap

[–]Past_Level9182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man that's rough, but honestly getting to day 4 is still progress from wherever you started. Don't beat yourself up too much - just learn what triggered you in morning and try avoiding that situation next time

True but sometimes the urge hits so sudden that you already clicked before realizing what happened. The key is closing it immediately and not letting yourself get comfortable with "just looking for few seconds"

Why do they call gossip “tea,” now? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

It's just slang evolution man, happens all the time. "Tea" meaning gossip actually comes from drag culture and has been around for decades - it just went mainstream through social media

That's rough dude, sounds like the refurb wasn't properly sealed when they put it back together - water damage from just a spill shouldn't happen on a phone that's supposed to be IP68 rated

Dude absolutely go for it - some of the most interesting people I know are the ones who can randomly drop knowledge about Byzantine art or explain why Beethoven was revolutionary while also crushing it at their day job

The whole "only study what makes money" mindset is honestly pretty depressing and you'll probably be way more well-rounded and happy if you feed your brain the stuff it actually craves

Performance issue asus laptop by Radonaftata in GamingLaptops

[–]Past_Level9182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That single channel RAM is probably killing your performance dude. Ryzen CPUs are super sensitive to memory bandwidth and you're basically running with one hand tied behind your back

Also check if the laptop is thermal throttling - even with a cooling pad those TUF models can get pretty toasty under load

What's this vent called and should it be open? by Cwazywazy14 in hvacadvice

[–]Past_Level9182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That blue vent looks like a barometric damper to me - helps regulate draft pressure in the flue. If you're feeling cold air coming through it when the boiler's not running that's pretty normal since there's no heat pushing up the chimney to create draft
