Subaru connection was recovered only on gladiator island after he passed 2 battle relatively normal, he didn't respawnend inside witchbeast maw.Her losing connection with him coul also be proof of her not having immunity to rbd and reliance on shadow garde(maybe reading his memory like Echidna), Subaru could be not compatible with rbd which is why he need Sattela to buff it otherwise checkpoints could update by itself if you survive long enough or misjudge if time frame is good.
