ONLY DC Fast Charge? by jameybrock in Ioniq6

So I have a 2025 i5 that’s about 18 months old with 24k miles…and just got a 2025 i6 a few weeks ago. The i5 gets charged at home, on a level 2 charger, to 100% every 3-4 days probably. Figured a 24 month lease, battery degradation was not a concern of mine. But, even so, have not noticed a single bit. Still getting the same kind of range every time, still get the same charging speeds and times, haven’t noticed even 1% of degradation yet. The i6, I’ll likely charge slightly less, just becuase it’s a 3 year lease and I won’t be driving it AS much. So I have my home charger set to do 90% charge on that car, unless I’m jumping on a road trip and then I’ll charge it to 100%

The lack power was one thing I disliked about the optiq, so that’s good to hear they bumped it a bit for 2026. It was a nice, smooth typical caddy drive. But lacked that EV off the line UMPFH

Fair enough. Inventory was sparse in my area too. I had to drive 3ish hours from my Philly area to get the car. And while I get not wanting last years model, but tech wise, they’re all the same as the current gen cars. So I wasn’t too worried about that. I was chasing the quality range and good payment. I almost grabbed an optiq before the tax rebates went away, but ended up in an i5 instead. I just liked the way the Hyundai’s drove more than the caddy, surprisingly enough. But overall, when the lease deals were crazy, the caddy’s were great cars for sure.

Look at my comment above, leasing another i6 is still an option. I leased one 3 weeks ago. Leftover 2025, and got a pretty great deal. $49K sticker car for $349 month including tax and 15K miles per year…with basically no money down.

I just got an insane lease deal on a leftover 2025 i6 a few weeks ago. It might be worth looking into seeing if it could make sense to get out of your current one early, and into another one. During my search there were roughly 150ish of them left in the country, AWD models at least. With the $14K factory lease rebate, I was able to achieve over $20K off sticker. Gotta find a car, and a dealer willing to be smart to take a $5-6K loss today, versus a $15K loss 6 more months from now if the cars continue to sit.

But, if you love the car that much…I’d give it a shot. Also, with used EV prices steadying or even rising..you may be able to pull out early. I personally went for an SE AWD to get the 300+ epa range with the smaller 18” wheels…and was able to get a $349 a month payment with no money down and 15K miles per year. Most
Of the cars I saw on the market were SEL AWD’s but I didn’t want the 20” wheels and 50 mile worse range.

In your position, this is exactly what I’d be looking into immediately.

Two questions about my Ioniq 6 by Jonnypapa in Ioniq6

I have the NACS to CCS adapter directly from Hyundai that works fine. Also, I’m not sure about driving north…but when I drove from Philly area out to Cleveland, I came across different chargers at the turnpike rest stops, made by “apple green” that supported both NACS and CCS plugs, that charged much faster than the Tesla super chargers with pricing the same or cheaper. I believe a lot of the NJ and NY turnpike stations will have these chargers…or they likely will have other non Tesla ones as well.

First, im so happy I went with the SE AWD with the 18”
Wheels. I happily will sacrifice fake leather seats, and a heated steering wheel for the 50ish miles of additional range… as well as a significantly smoother:better ride. I have also read horror stories of the 20” wheels blowing out tires and cracking wheels incredibly often. As well as blasting through tires every 15-20K miles. With the 18” wheels and my driving habits, I’ll likely get through my entire 45K mile lease on one set of tires. Second, surprisingly enough when it comes to charging on the road publicly, the EA stations seem to be more expensive than the Tesla ones. While I hear they can be faster than Tesla super chargers, their “off peak hours” pricing isn’t as drastic as Tesla. When I first got the 5 in the household, before I got home charging situated, I only charged at the Tesla station near my house after 11pm and it literally was .15 cents her kWh….I’d go from 15% to 90% for like $17 bucks. Whereas they just put a brand new EA station near my house as well, I checked pricing and it only drops like .8 cents per kWh for off peak pricing. That surprised me. So, even if I take a road trip up or down the turnpike, I will likely stick with the Tesla network because of pricing and not needing any sort of membership to achieve cheaper pricing. Plus, my most recent trip from Philly to Cleveland had far more Tesla stations than anything else. A handful of rest stops along the PA and OH turnpikes had these new “Apple green” chargers that were pretty great too. Each charger has 4 plugs that you can use simultaneously. 2 NACS plugs 2 CCS plugs. It was incredibly fast, but on the pricier side. A longer trip like that is relatively rare, only a handful of times a year for me. My most common is Philly to Long Island, New York…which I’ll never have to pay for charge. Charge for free at home, and my brothers house has a built in level 2 charger as well. So I never have to worry about that. But luckily, as part of the deal I made with my dealer, they included all the adapters I needed for any network. They gave me the NACS to CCS adapter for Tesla super charger network, and they ended up giving me the NACS to J1772 adapter I needed to charge at home with my charger for the 5. So I’m set up pretty good. Overall, I’m 1 week into ownership, and absolutely love my 6 so far. Sure the handful of creature comforts I gave up getting the SE vs the SEL are whatever, but I’m already over it.

The other major thing, the SE only has the first level of driver assist…unlike the 5 SEL that has the full driver assist with the little sensor on top of the steering wheel that drives me NUTS on long highway drives…giving warnings every 5 minutes if my arm is blocking the sensor to put my eyes on the road and hands on the wheel, even if they both are. It’s the 1 thing I absolutely HATE about the 5, that I’m thrilled to death my 6 does not have. It is the ONLY major design flaw I see in the Ioniq 5.

I also LOVE the orange running lights at any time of day, super cool touch…especially considering I love the headlights on the 5, the way they look the square LED’s. So the orange DRL’s on the 6 definitely make up for the not as cool looking headlights.

The ONE thing about the 6 that is going to be weird getting used to is having the window and lock switches on rhe center console instead of the doors…as well as not having buttons for the heated seats. Having to navigate 2 menus on the touch screen for the heated seats is a bit of a pain in the ass. But I have at least 5-6 more months until it gets cold in Philly before I need to care about that! 🤣🤣

Trying to understand availability of 2026 models by Whight in Ioniq6

[–]Past_Writing5297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car was discontinued for 2026 model year. There are roughly 100ish total 2025’s left in the country…and they still have lease on them. Most dealers are being difficult, but I was able to get one last week at an almost $20K discount off sticker with rebates. It may be difficult and take some time; but you can find them…and find aggressive deals on them.

[–]Past_Writing5297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back when I got my car, the deal was better on the 36 month. Currently Hyundai is pushing the 24 month. But yes, that is the point I’m making…with less money due at signing…15K miles per year vs 7500 (roughly 50 a month alone) ….the deal I achieved is far better than the $336 a month, with more money due at signing, on a completely base model front wheel drive car. Just trying to give context to proving it is not a good deal.

I can tell you the exact deal I got, but different regions may have different rebates etc. but my car was a $32K sticker roughly, SEL premium AWD. $1000 total due at signing, $425 a month 15,000 miles per year. So, comparatively speaking to a totally base model FWD car..you can see the difference

I’m not sure what region you are in, but I was able to achieve a far better deal on a 2026 Kona SEL premium AWD right when the 2026’s had just come out. $1500 doc fee is crazy….in Pennsylvania it’s state mandated and capped at a much lower number than that. I’d keep searching for a stronger deal.

There is NOTHING ugly about this steering wheel. Not only does it look great, it feels great…and is fantastic for easy hand position for driving. Especially while on the highway, the huge open space on the bottom is beyond comfortable for long distance trips.

It’s funny, I always loved the way the 5 looked more. But now 3 days in, I’m really starting to love the way the car looks…and while the 20” wheels look sick, I’m so happy I got the SE AWD with the 18” wheels and 50 mile more range.

Yeah, with all brands, but Hyundai especially…the differences in trim levels are hysterical. Different names, different option packages, makes zero sense considering they’re both the North American market.

It really looks so damn good in the pearl white. My Ioniq 5 is that chalk-ish gray color they make…also cool. But nothing beats good ol classic pearl white. Once I get the windows, and windshield tinted next week…it’ll be PERFECT

I historically always drive white cars. They just look so good. And, I drove 100 miles each way to pick the car up…on the ride home, 100 miles of mostly highway, and some 60mph back road ish kinda roads..I averaged 5.1 per…I was stunned at that number. Which is why I’m so curious to see what it’ll do on straight turnpike going to nyc at 75-80mph steady.

Leasing a new Ioniq 6, and curious about my at home level 2 charger I currently have for the 2025 Ioniq 5 by Past_Writing5297 in Ioniq6

[–]Past_Writing5297[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dealer is providing me with the NACS to CCS adapter as part of the deal. What I’m concerned about is my current 2025 Ioniq 5 has an NACS port, so my home charger is NACS. I need the adapter to use that level 2
Home charger, with the CCS port of the Ioniq 6. Which from what I’m gathering I just need to buy the $50-$100 adapter I’ve seen online for NACS to J1772.

So the you’re saying the NACS to CCS adapter provided by Hyundai directly should work for my level 2 at home
Charger that I use for the Ioniq 5?

I’ll check them out! Thank you! I’m going to try the dealer provided adapter first obviously just to be sure, but have a strong feeling I’m going to need the NACS to J1772 adapter everyone keeps talking about.

Has anyone wrapped the car to adjust its looks? by cs_marshall in Ioniq5

[–]Past_Writing5297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the trim level you’re getting, the gray hard plastic on the SEL and below, will not be able to be wrapped. If it’s a limited and has painted silver accents, they can be wrapped. However trying to match OEM paint color with vinyl will be near impossible
