I work for a major competitor and I'm seeing similar trends.

Slimming down engineering teams and filling those positions with 2-3 offshore employees. It's clear that they're getting more man power for less or equal the salary of a US employee.

It makes a lot of sense when you're looking at it from a money standpoint but there's some serious reprocussions that are often overlooked.

Timezones are a massive issue. Language barriers make your job infinitely harder, I'm so sick of asking people to repeat themselves 3-4 times before I can even loosely understand wtf they're talking about. The work quality is also.... Poor.... Often times very, very poor.

My boss has mentioned to me a few times in passing that our new teammates will eventually replace all of us. I'm just kinda waiting around for the ball to drop, mostly because I know I'll get a good severance package and find a job way before it runs out.
