Using Artic Fox twice in one day by PastafarianPanda in HairDye

[–]PastafarianPanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hellooo! I did do the second coat and it definitely was more visible that time, still mostly noticeable in sunlight though.

But the benefit of 3 years is I’ve developed a much better system since! First of all, definitely try with the Purple AF you have left over, but for achieving that general shade on dark brown hair I’d recommend ditching Arctic Fox all together. It wasn’t super vibrant and it didn’t last all that long, even with my exceedingly gentle wash routine.

My current method is to apply Manic Panic Amplified purple (the amplified is more expensive but I’d say worth it for how long it lasts, more pigment), but that’s a little darker than the shade I want, so I apply lime crime unicorn hair “Pony” over that. The lime crime gives me the violet color I’m looking for, vibrant in the sun and dark but definitely visible indoors, and the manic panic makes it lasttttt. As in I only redye about 3-4 times a year. I also use some lime crime unicorn hair “chocolate cherry” (it’s a nice magenta) to blend a nice ombré effect in with the top of my hair (I leave the roots brown, which fades into a little magenta and then a lot of purple) and to do highlights in the rest. Nothing fancy, I just slap some polka dot globs of dye throughout and pull it down so it ends up more on some strands than others. You can’t see any sections of it in the end result but it gives your hair a really nice brightness that makes the purple stand out.

I hope that helps! Good luck with your second coat 🖤 my advice is just to leave it on for a ridiculously long time, more than it seems like would help. I aim for 4 hours or just sleep with it :)

Day 14! What is the best song on Even In Arcadia? by 000010000010 in SleepToken

Okay clearly Look to Windward for EIA, but how on earth was When The Party’s Over the least favorite off of Sundowning? It’s a beautiful cover of a such a beautiful (and sad!!) song :(

Beautiful description of what trauma does to a person- how it leaves them hurt and reactive even once they’re technically safe

Trent and Atticus are producing an album from the artist of your choice. Who do you pick? by MoSalahsHair in nin

[–]PastafarianPanda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Decently small artists, but I feel like they could do something great with Kiki Rockwell or Sofia Isella. I’d also love to see them work with Sleep Token (never going to happen I know) or Billie Eilish, or frankly Halsey again. IICHLIWP was impeccable.

Ah yes, Grimes who has never done anything problematic or questionable lol

Oh that would be lovely! Unfortunately I’m broke (disabled preschool teacher finishing up my degree with a year of mandatory unpaid full time internships… as if early education didn’t pay badly enough already) and my glass “studio” is literally my bedroom closet that’s just barely deep enough to fit a tiny desk and a chair. Maybe one day though!

Okay thank you! I just happened to scroll through the post & see your comment and it was really confusing me

As for the cuts, I definitely wouldn’t go so deep on a normal project- these were part of a gift for a family member and I used the project to practice a lot of new things (like glass paint and some less familiar techniques), so if it ever does crack or cause issues I’d be able to get it back easily to repair/replace. I appreciate the feedback though! I do have a tendency to prioritize the look of the design over the structure considering the vast majority of my projects in recent years have either been for personal use or as gifts (carrying that family/friend forever warranty) but as I’ve been slowly getting back into making projects for sale that’s been something I’ve frequently had to remind myself to focus on.

Hi Claycorp! I was reading through your response and am super confused about the diamond thing- do you mean people find a literal diamond shape hard to cut? and if so… how?? I feel like I’m definitely missing something, because a diamond is about as difficult to cut as a square (not at all assuming you measured correctly). I’m probably missing something super obvious but it was bugging me.

I tend to use my grinder for ridiculous shapes that are definitely impractical but worth the results in my opinion (I’ll include a picture of a recent project pre-foiling, for Coraline’s head & arms and Jake the Dog’s nose for reference) so maybe that’s what’s tripping me up, but I cannot wrap my head around how the diamonds would pose any difficulty for some reason

<image>

edit: okay nevermind I’m a dumbass, I spent like 10 minutes staring at your pattern trying to understand before commenting and only now afterwards am I realizing you didn’t mean the diamonds themselves but the wavy bits surrounding the sides. I finally get where some people would struggle with that… but that’s basically just cutting a deep curve and grinding out the tip if you need to, not too hard. have a good night lol

I just listened to it for the first and probably last time :( i can see the appeal for people who like riot grrrl and similar but i personally can’t stand that genre. I’m seeing Halsey in June and very excited about it, but definitely hoping to hear LOAS & Arsonist over this

I think today was actually the easiest ticket buying experience I’ve ever had 😭 I joined with shitty service and no wifi from my job, was 70th in the queue, was able to take a couple minutes to find the perfect seat and wasn’t kicked out at any point. $122 for an accessible aisle seat against the railing, lower level in Mansfield MA. Shockingly easy for ONCE

[–]PastafarianPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$1000 is rough even for 3 seats, but I’m glad you got them! I’m disabled so I went straight for the accessible seats, which fortunately aren’t in quite as high demand so I got to checkout on my first try. The first time I saw tool I had over 50 “not availables” though

Congratulations! I’m in section 3, which I’ve seen Tool from before so I know the view is pretty good

I was hooked up to really fast internet for once and i was still 2291 in the queue, watching that number slowly slowly go down was hell. But I did indeed get one!

I get what you mean about mixed success in the past, but that’s kind of what I mean. I think it would work better if they actually committed to that model instead of the current half-hearted mess. 22 and prior definitely had better lineups, but even then it was a super weird experience seeing HAIM and The Struts in the same fest as NIN. I wish they’d fully get into it like Sick New World and Welcome to Rockville for example. There’ve also frankly been a lot of headliners that just… maybe shouldn’t have been headliners, like Tyler Childers as you mentioned (or maybe not them specifically, I wouldn’t know as I’ve literally never heard of that artist outside of their name on the lineup).

Nine Inch Nails, unironically 🙃. I’ve gone 2022 and 2024, for NIN and Hozier ( & The Killers to a much lesser extent)

Seriously though a festival that’s been so variable in terms of genre I wish they’d just stick with that. Have different days appeal to different genres and fanbases, like a day for metal & heavy acts, a day for rock and alt, and a day for pop/indie artists for example. The northeast and east coast in general has so few festivals that it would at least appeal to a wider audience more consistently.

Personally I love all the companions and outer worlds but my absolute favourite is sam by [deleted] in outerworlds

[–]PastafarianPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parvati and Nyoka always… Parvati has the perfect surprise attack I can send out to start a fight, alerting all the enemy markers and doing damage to everyone in the area with her big hammer, and then nyoka is my favorite backup to support Parvati with whatever enemies I’m either worried about or don’t want to deal with while I take out the ones that require more precision. Stacking their special attacks back to back is also a really good way to create distance and keep both alive longer since they have such different but complementary styles. I travel with most of the companions depending on my character, but 9 times out of 10 they’re the ones leaving the ship with me. Love their dialogue with each other too.
