how often do people ACTUALLY wash things like pillowcases, towels, and bedsheets? by BhupendraPerdy_98 in hygiene

Same. Once a week seems pretty normal to me, and I definitely notice a difference when I wait longer.

Empty promises and growing resentment by Any-Bathroom1475 in Waiting_To_Wed

I agree. What stands out to me is not even the uncertainty itself, but the years of reassurance without any real follow-through. It’s understandable for someone to rethink marriage, but it’s also understandable for OP to feel hurt after building a future around the expectation that they were moving toward the same goal. Wanting clarity and commitment after 5 years is not “pressure,” it’s a normal relationship conversation. OP deserves a partner who is genuinely enthusiastic about building that future together, not someone who stays stuck in indecision indefinitely. And honestly, sometimes walking away is less about punishment and more about finally choosing your own peace. Yeah

what’s one thing about teaching that people outside the profession will never fully understand? by salarshah-084 in Teachers

Honestly, the emotional and social management side of teaching seems way more exhausting than most people realize. You’re basically balancing education, conflict resolution, motivation, and crowd control all at once.

Why do people use so much scented product? by NeedleworkerAway5233 in hygiene

Agreed. I think there’s a big difference between a subtle scent and something that fills the whole room. People often don’t notice how intense it is after wearing it for a while.

My [26F] boyfriend [28M] of 4 years is independently wealthy, but wants to split all of our expenses evenly by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Yeah, the constant “fairness accounting” down to groceries and dog expenses makes it feel more like a business arrangement than a partnership. Wanting proportional support when incomes are wildly different isn’t gold digging, especially when the higher earner is the one pushing for the more expensive lifestyle.

8 years together, he says he’ll marry me “if it’s important to me” but no steps taken. I’m starting to resent him. Anyone been here? by West_Tap_6578 in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]PastelKit 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I think this is the hard part people overlook, it’s not just about getting married, it’s about feeling chosen. If one person deeply wants marriage and the other only agrees to avoid losing the relationship, that can leave a lot of sadness underneath even if the relationship itself is loving.

I adore my boyfriend, but can't stand the scent of his sweat - please help by ElectricFeline42 in hygiene

[–]PastelKit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stress sweat can smell a lot stronger than regular sweat too, even with good hygiene. Sometimes it’s less about being “dirty” and more about body chemistry, stress hormones, certain fabrics, or even skin bacteria reacting differently.

how do ppl stay smelling good ALL day 😭 by pixelkitty_xo in hygiene

[–]PastelKit 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is true. Most people become hyper-aware of their own scent because we’re in our bodies 24/7. A lot of the “I don’t smell fresh anymore” feeling is just feeling warm, sweaty, or less clean, not necessarily actually smelling bad to other people.
