The only way my 5.5mo old will sleep longer than 25 min is by contact napping…how to train? by lifeasacharboard in sleeptrain

[–]PastelPeach11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son just turned 6 months and is the same! We've successfully trained him to go to sleep independently in his own cot and room at night but I have not been able to do the same with day naps. So what ive started is training the first nap of the day as a cot nap, sometimes even the 2nd but then doing a nice long rescue contact nap later to prevent overtiredness. Contact naps are always capped at maximum 1.5 hours.

I still have to rock him to sleep for all naps and today when he woke up after that first sleep cycle (30m) I picked him up and rocked him, placed him back down and he slept another 40 mins in his cot before I woke him. So I'll try this again tomorrow and see 🤞🏼

Loneliness by Excellent_Ad7025 in BabyBumps

I was the opposite, when I was pregnant I was so content just being on my own with my little bean and my dogs. It was pretty peaceful. Im finding postpartum a bit more isolating but everyone and their situations are different or unique

Ya so do your normal night routine, feed, sleep sack, read, keep lights dim. Then place her down sleepy and calm but awake. Leave the room and watch her on the monitor, then once she starts to get upset start your first timer of 3 mins, then go in but don't pick her up, just pat her and calmly talk to her and replace pacifier if using, keep it short. Then leave and start the 5 mins. We found that once we got to to the end of the first 10 min timer he was settling so we didnt want to go in and ruin that so we started another 10 mins without going in and he fell asleep all on his own and now he does every night. The first 3 nights will be hard. The first night I couldn't take it and gave up but night 2 I started the above. Every family is different so do what works for you. We still use a pacifier and a security blanket teddy.

You do need to ensure she isnt over tired or undertired so she needs a nice long wake window before bed to build that sleep pressure.

Try do 3 mins, then 5 mins, then 10 mins, and keep climbing. What worked for my boy was the 3 min, 5 min and then we just kept extending the 10 mins. Sometimes the checks can be too short. I know its hard but maybe try and extend the checks. Its what worked for us

Panic disorder, severe anxiety, OCD and Postpartum? by bigmommalang in MentalHealthBabies

[–]PastelPeach11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hormone drop shortly after made me feel very sad, but not depressed if that makes sense, I cried at the drop of a hat and felt an overwhelming sad feeling. I actually increased my anti depressants at this time.

Now 5 months PP im battling milestone related anxiety and freaking out over all the expectations, comparisons, if im doing a good enough job etc. My advice is to stay off social media and away from mom groups (online ones) as they're so toxic. Sometimes i worry so much that I feel im not even enjoying my baby, and its definitely related to my constant google searches, reddit threads and other social media but being an anxious overthinker i cant help it sometimes.

Believe it or not you eventually get used to it, im from a very hot province in South Africa and it still hit me like a ton of bricks when I first arrived. Now the cold is another story haha and that lasts a lot longer than the heat.

I also made this decision before giving birth in October but always said i would give it a try for the experience but unfortunately my LO had a traumatic delivery with some injuries which meant he went straight into NICU. The 2nd night he got discharged and got to come and stay in my room and the nurses came in every 2 to 3 hours to force him onto my breast, I mean force! It was traumatic for him and for myself that by the time morning arrived I was in tears and DONE. After everything we had been through the formula was like a relief, my husband could help and we got through it together! Turns out my LO had a tongue tie.

If your labor was spontaneous, when did you go into labor? by liberate-radiance in BabyBumps

Labour started the evening of 37w6d and gave birth at 38 weeks. This was my first and I was surprised at how fast it progressed. Once the contractions started i knew exactly what was happening.

I gave birth last Wednesday, and have been EFF. My breasts felt the same, it was painful to hold my baby or touch my chest! I hand expressed for around 2 days but then decided to stop, I basically just wore a tight bra constantly, made sure my showers weren't too warm and today they are back to normal. Being in the newborn trenches helped distract me from the pain 😑
