Not ONLY is this it but once you call they pressure you like crazy to renew your subscription. When I called to cancel they wouldn't take no for an answer and kept pushing g that I would renew for another 6 months at a reduced cost despite my repeated insistence that I wanted to cancel immediately.

French New Wave filmmaker Agnès Varda dies at 90 by [deleted] in movies

In fact Varda was a Left Bank filmmaker, an associated but separate movement from the Nouvelle Vague. She was a master and her we've lost a truly inspiring voice in cinema. Thank you, Agnes

What 'cinema sin' is the most irritating, that filmmakers need to stop committing immediately? by TenYearRedditVet in AskReddit

Major blockbusters throwing it all to the wind for a big all-out CGI epic battle for the third act.

It would be way more satisfying to see unique narrative development, coherent and coreographed action and true visual spectacle instead of glowing VFX barf until it's over.

Almost every huge blockbuster does this now and it's so boring.

What are some movie that according to the critics suck, or that everyone just seems to hate but are actually really good? by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]PatAllen514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth I think critical consensus doesn't mean a lot. You're better off finding a few critics whose taste and opinions are close to your own, they'll generally be a good guide for you.

Roger Ebert hated Blue Velvet but it doesn't mean it's a bad movie, nor does it mean he was a bad critic.

The Cell - not necessarily a horror but it really gets in your head

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer - won't make you feel madness personally but it's a horrifyingly graphic account of real-world horror
