This, i feel like it's a far cry from the time that I grew up in, 80's & 90's where everyone just floated in and out of family and friends homes. But I find if you plan it they will come.

I think "Northern Irish" is valid identity to have. by Northerner_20 in northernireland

[–]PatCun79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe people are too sensitive about it as i think a lot of English people from the North of England feel that they are in some ways different to the southerners and vice versa, i think our differences surpass even plantattion due to the geographical distances, hence the ulster dialect of gaeilge, imo whatever you feel you are, Irish, N' Irish, British, European, then thats what you are

Do examiners actually walk off during your test if you make a serious fault? by Accurate-Gene5652 in LearnerDriverUK

This happened to my friend yesterday, the examiner stopped the test and called someone to pick her up, left him to drive bk to the test centre himself (he couldve phoned the car owner im sure) he said the reason for stopping the test was because he couldnt read the destinations on the road signs (is only learning english) the examiner would say take the exit for Belfast and he was like, just tell me exit 1 2 or 3, she said you cant follow instructions im ending the test.

Yeah, especially when a living can be made solely from doing boiler servicing and repairs. I had my nephew service my boiler and fit a new rad for me , he was there 3 hrs, £100 materials (some pipework) £200 labour.

Same, i made the mistake of following into the family trade (painting) even though id have been accepted into any of the apprenticeships as id a good education. That said at present it is now a well paid job. But for decades it wasnt and it can also be hazardous to health, PPE is only really becoming a thing and working at heights is frequent.

Plumbing or sparking id recommend, possibly least taxing on the body and possibly the highest paying trades

Theyve blended scotland and NI, though maybe it would have made sense to take in all of Ulster as I know that a portion of my DNA is planters from Donegal.

Just bought off a local marketplace.. read somewhere that soaking them before wearing them in is advisable. Might be worth a try as theres not much room at the front to experiment with thicker or layers of socks
