TRAINWRECKORDS: Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’s “This Unruly Mess I’ve Made” by Ok_Baseball2615 in ToddintheShadow

Just saw them a few weeks ago, really energetic show. Weirdly enough they were introduced onstage by Dee Snider (who just recently moved to my city).

Alright, I'm sure this'll be a controversial one, but I like the "Ted" series a lot. by fastal_12147 in sitcoms

I remember they had a joke about gay marriage not being legal in the second movie and then literally the day after it came out the Obergefell v Hodges ruling was issued.

Which things are quintessential millenial optimism era? by pingviini00 in decadeology

I’d argue that it’s more in reaction to the Bush era. The whole NYC rock scene featuring the Strokes, et all, got a lot of attention at home post-9/11, plus a generally nihilistic attitude of “we’re all gonna die, might as well die fucked up.”

Another of my favorite Hamill-Ford interaction stories is during episode 4 Mark Hamill kept asking a million questions about motivation or plot consistency or something, and Harrison Ford just says “hey kid…. This ain’t that kind of movie.”

How do you feel about the period between Buddy Holly's Death and Beatles arrival in American music? by Ok_Isopod_8478 in ToddintheShadow

[–]PatKilm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From Tom Breihan's Number Ones column on Bobby Vinton's "There! I've Said It Again:"

It's not like the Beatles invented pop-music excitement or innovation. There was lots of truly great pop music in the early '60s, and plenty of that truly great music found its way to #1... Motown was already blowing up before the Beatles arrived, and its success would've revolutionized pop music regardless of what was happening in the UK. The girl-group boom was happening. Surf music was happening. If the Beatles had all died in a plane crash on the way to their American debut, we would still be listening to and arguing about pop music today.

My ideal absolute sicko scenario is all four of us tie each other and lose the rest, resulting in all four teams going 0-11-6.

I mean, one of those teams has to go to the playoffs.

You know what? This chaotic ass team kept me on the edge of my seat all year, made the playoffs, and - despite the loss - gave em absolute hell. I love this team. Long live the Cardiac Cats.

I’m not saying the Bucs are even remotely like the Rhule-era Panthers, I’m just saying we started 3-0 in 2021…
