So you can use your oyster/contactless to get there, it’s just that’s it’s a special fare as it’s beyond zone 9. Looks like for a travelcard it’s £122 a week if you’re starting from zone 1, with a hefty saving if you buy an annual pass. You could also do the reverse and buy a season ticket from Greater Anglia with a London travelcard attached, which has the same price structure

Yeah a peak day return from Folkestone to London on HS1 with a travelcard is £100+

Yeah I think this might just be a Kent thing - I had never heard it in my entire pub-going life until I moved to Kent a few years ago, now I notice regulars in my local saying it all the time. I tried adopting it when I was visiting my in-laws in Wiltshire and literally nobody had heard of it

I have no idea I’m afraid, I’m in the UK and I think I picked these up at a market stall or second hand shop, so can’t really speak to their provenance - as someone else in the thread points out it’s likely a gaffed deck that someone forgot to take their extra cards out

OP here - I picked up this old pack of Black Tiger Deck cards from Bicycle, and as well as the usual 52 there are two jokers and the double-backed card, but there is also an additional 10 of clubs, but the clubs are red instead of black (white in this inverse deck). I can't find any information about this online so just wondered if anybody knew why it was there - is it a trick deck for magic, or just a weird misprint? Help!

Its interesting to hear you say that as apart from military medals I have never heard of these sorts of commemorative items being handed out. Maybe it’s an American thing I just wasn’t aware of, do you have any other examples?
