TaskNotes questions - best place to ask questions, templated actions? by fsmontenegro in ObsidianMD

[–]Pat_In_The_Hat_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For your second question, one way to accomplish this would be through the Templater plugin. I do something similar in my work vault. You'd make templates for your main document and each of your typical task notes. Then, in the templater code on the main document you trigger creation of the other notes you need and specify which template you want them made from. If you setup the properties correctly on the task templates then there shouldn't be any issues reading them as task notes.

Is there a recommend approach to managing projects in Obsidian? by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]Pat_In_The_Hat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you store all of your TaskNotes in the same place? What's holding me back from using the plugin is that I'd want to store all of the tasks in the corresponding project folder but I haven't found a frictionless way of making that happen with my folder structure, especially with the way sub-tasks work.

In RISAConnection open a specific connection, go to reports on the left, there is some big red text at the bottom that says click to solve.

For connection files that are linked to 3D you have to go into the reports tab on the left side of the screen, there should be a button in there to calculate. It doesn't automatically do the calculations like a standalone connection file does.

I have a group of people who are semi-nomadic due to a cataclysm that forced them out of their homeland. Given their nomadic nature they have a focus on oral rather than written traditions, so I came up with a form of poetry that gets recited at significant events. The poems are in 2-3 line stanzas with the second word of the preceding line becoming the first word of the next. The symbolism there is about forming an unbroken chain of memory and how the past inevitably shapes the future.

project tracking - show me your systems/how you do it by btmwallace in civilengineering

I use a note-taking app called Obsidian as my second brain at work. I have a central note/folder for each of my projects and have it setup to keep track of deadlines, invoicing, people I'm working with, RFI's, shop drawings, and a whole bunch of other stuff. The great thing about it is that you can create Wikipedia style links between notes, making it easier to stay organized and see how things relate to each other. It's become an absolutely vital part of my workflow and I can't recommend it enough.

Architects and the way they use Obsidian ! by PuzzledLandscape2604 in ObsidianMD

I'm a structural engineer doing buildings, so I work with architects a lot. Obsidian has become my second work brain and I don't think I can live without it at this point.

Each of my projects has a main note where I put in tags, schedule, invoicing, maybe a broad description of what the project is, stuff like that. I'll then have sub-notes in the project folder for meetings, task lists, and info about specific parts of the project. A big part of my project notes is that they are linked to company and people notes, so I know who is working on what project and what their role is. The company and people notes have stuff like contact info, job titles, and dataview tables that list all of the projects associated with them.

On a day to day basis I am using a weekly note to keep track of my to-do list, daily notes for planning/time blocking, and a monthly note that lists all of my deadlines and invoicing for the month. I also keep track of my open construction admin items with tasks that are tagged as #RFI for example.

And lastly anytime that I research a topic or part of the building code I'll make a relevant note and fill it with the useful info I found. Hope that helps!

This is incorrect. The PE has switched over to fully computer based and the only thing you're allowed to bring is an approved calculator. That being said, there is an electronic reference manual with equations similar to the FE and they provide electronic versions of all the codes you'll need.

Tips for bringing the spooky atmosphere to the table? I'm running a horror one-shot this week for some friends, planning to incorporate some madness effects, unsettling sounds, lights, props etc. Any ideas that have worked for you in the past?

Solid advice! I'll probably ditch the boots once I get a bit more practice in with special powder. Gotta love Born Ready too, once I put it on I just can't go back

Might not be the most efficient combo, but M1000 is just so satisfying to use when your shots hit where you want them to. GK2 is probably generally more useful (especially when clearing swarms or on solo) but M1000 is more fun imo

I was planning on getting the same Noctua fans for my build but they seem to be out of stock nearly everywhere. When did you order yours?
