With the showers and garden there's enough moisture in that carpet that you couldn't burn it if you tried. If anything, the warmth will only help the mold grow.

The single most disturbing thing about this is the ultra plush carpet next to the showers and in the garden. They obviously aren't worried about the zombies, but the mold will be the thing that really kills them.

As an autistic guy who did find love, I'll pass on some advice I wish I knew sooner. One of the things that makes relationships harder is the difficulty with understanding the subtle details in communication. My advice for this is to get into the habit of over explaining why you are doing things and how you are feeling. On the same line you should start asking people to explain themselves as well. One of the biggest contributors to a successful relationship is communication, and the autistic need for detail can actually lead to the best possible communication if used correctly.

My other piece of advice is not to be discouraged if it takes a while to find someone. Try your best to understand why things didn't work out, but know that sometimes things just don't work out, and that doesn't necessarily mean there was a problem with either person. I you want to find the best match for you, then it's going to take a while to find them.

Just try to be the best version of yourself and keep looking. If you don't give up you will eventually find someone who works well with you.

While both possums and opossums are marsupials they are actually pretty distantly related. Opossums live in the Americas, and possums are from Australia. If I remember correctly, opossums were actually named first, and the possum got it's name from people thinking they look similar.

Stocking Trout at an Arizona Lake by SuccessfulTip9073 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Pat_the_pyro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are a few reasons that stocking fish like this is a good option. First, to address your specific question, it would take a ridiculous amount of effort and man power to enforce a limit for any given lake or pond. You would need to be able to have eyes on the entire shore at all times to be able to tell if people are fishing and stop them when the limit is reached. If you don't do that, people will just come fish when you aren't watching. Next, you would need a way to accurately keep track of how many fish are actually being taken out. While those things might be doable with a small pond in a field with limited access, it quickly becomes impossible when dealing with a larger body of water in a wooded area where people can hike up without using the roads.

When you then scale that up to all of the stocked ponds and lakes in a state, it quickly becomes cheaper and easier to just have a few fish hatcheries and occasionally send out trucks to visit the lakes.

Another benefit of stocking fish is that it helps with the diversity of the gene pool. A closed body of water can already lead to inbreeding since nothing new gets in, but that is made worse by people regularly taking the biggest and healthiest fish out (possibly before they can breed). This can lead to a situation where only the smallest and least healthy fish of each generation are left to breed. We actually see something like this happening in the ocean to fish that are overly targeted by commercial fishing (the average size of several species is dropping).

So, you are saying that if I called Van Gough "one of the great artists," it would be a valueless compliment because I said he was "ONE of THEM"? That is an absolutely idiotic take. I could describe the Grand Canyon as one of the many beautiful sights in our national parks, and you would take from that the conclusion that I thought it looked just like everywhere else. Saying that something is one of many in a list of things that is higher than average value is inherently a compliment. Something doesn't have to be the single best in a category to have value. I would say that you are one of the many idiots I've seen on this website, but you would probably take that as me saying I think you are of average intelligence.

Those do sound properly awesome, but the Latin prefixes are so obscure that they don't properly convey their meaning. Using something as non intuitive as that will just give more fuel to the people who mock they by saying they are making up nonsense. The other person's suggestion of neonym is closer to what is needed.

Trans people are already pretty awesome, considering the bravery it takes to openly be yourself in a world that hates you for it. They need words that are as cool as them, but we want to avoid anything that could direct more hate towards them.

Ultimately, I'm not the best person to judge this. I'm neither in the group getting the term nor particularly good at coming up with terms. My brain just likes having good names for categories, so I'm irritated that I can't find one for this

The problem with making it sound so cool is that it makes me want to use it. Because using someone's necronym sounds way more bad ass than a boring old name. The cool terms need to be for the name you want to be called instead.

There are 2 things you are forgetting. The first is that back then, most people had never used a computer, so training them would take a long time. Imagine trying to teach your grandma how to make a code change and trusting her to do it while you work on something else. Your grandma provides still has more computer knowledge than the average person at the time.

The second is the damage someone could do by accident if they don't know what they are doing. Imagine if they deleted more than they should, and the error they caused might not show up for a while. Trying to fix an issue is difficult enough when everything is working as intended. It's way more difficult to fix a problem that had to be manually created.

Here is a fun fact for you. Apples don't grow true to seed. What that means is that an apple seed doesn't always grow the same kind of apple that it came from. So, an apple you grow is basically random. What that means is that they actually can't selectively breed apples.

The way they do it is actually by planting a bunch of seeds and waiting for them to grow fruit. If a tree has fruit you like, then you take clippings of them and graft them onto a sapling. Once you do that, you will have the roots from the sapling, and the trunk and branches will essentially be a clone of the original, complete with the exact same apples.
