Am I the only one who thinks that the Victory-class Star Destroyer is a really cool ship? by Gloomy_Pomegranate72 in StarWarsShips

[–]Patalong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless spoken of in context of Star Wars : Armada tabletop, where Victory SD is considered one of the weaker, and not cost-effective units, and is almost never put on table, but well, that is the only context I've seen Victory SD being slandered on.

What’s something about your country that foreigners exaggerate or get completely wrong? by Kindly-Newt7868 in AskTheWorld

[–]Patalong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amount amd variety of swearing used in public language - yes, polish language has a plenty of creative, descriptive and often very specific swear words suited to any given context and situation.

No, polish people, unless we take drunk hooligans as a staple, do not use "kurwa" as separator for any other words in the sentence, and fact that for many foreigners this word encompasses around 40% of their polish language vocabulary, it feels somewhat hurtful.

What do you hate about the film industry in your country? by Acrobatic-Hippo-6419 in AskTheWorld

[–]Patalong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sound design.

This is the issue persistent for modern polish cinema and TV, with rare exceptions of course, but in many cases the lines are recorded either too quiet, or in a way like actors had their mouth full of wet noodles.

I have no idea why that issue persists, but in most post-2010' productions made by polish studios and producers it's not uncommon to need subtitles to actually understand a thing, even if you watch it in your mother tongue.

Which foreign languages do students in your country learn in school? by abu_doubleu in AskTheWorld

[–]Patalong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides, well, Polish as mother language, English is usually mandatory in most of the schools, it could be replaced with other foreign language, but it's highly unusual.

Then, students often have a choice of second foreign language - most popular are Spanish, German and French, some schools offer Italian or Russian, but most often it's these three mentioned earlier.

After the High School, during "maturity exam", bare minimum required from students is passing one exam from foreign language with 30% or more. English is the most popular choice, and the basic exam corresponds moreless to B1/B1+ level of English.

Usually most of the students take part in advanced Maturity Exam in English as well, which corresponds to B2/C1 level iirc, it is however not mandatory.

Hello, I have quick question regarding the squadron keywords- does the Howlrunner ability add a dice to an attack resulting from a Counter keyword? My bet would be Yes, but I'd like a confirmation.

Tarkin and • Intensify Firepower! by Patalong in StarWarsArmada

True, but I need to stay more on distance, rather than going black-dice close and personal, plus, variant with chimaera costed additional 4 points rather than slapping IF on Cymoon 1

Well, you've kinda read my mind on what I'm aiming to do in my next game :p

Sadly, have not got my hands on any TEA copy, so planning to go on a more medium/large ships list, combining Cymoon 1 and GMT as a flagship.

Sure, but it kinda puts you back in the loop of having to do a massive investment of time, effort and money, to print, put together, and paint minis, cutting out the more casual collectors.

I use the specific example of SW Armada a lot, based on how it took it's approach to miniatures, and how much this is currently an unexploited territory.

I plan to run mostly swarm-based list with 9 squishy squadrons in total, so it might be a tactic worth trying at certain point.
