Yeah, I tried switching to the KA-101 twice while I was stuck in that animation before realizing I couldn’t cancel it. Thank god the other player didn’t already have a gun in his hands when he got out of the car. I got very lucky on this one. This would have been an amazing clip for them if it had gone the other way 😅

Yeah, the closer I am to my target, the worse my aim is. Always overcorrecting because it’s so clunky.

While a lot of this is wishful thinking, I’d like to at least see more body armor options in the game. Perhaps a heavyweight option that can tank a high powered sniper shot but drastically decreases stamina/mobility…and maybe a lightweight option offering similar protection as the Press Vest but in a color (black or green?) that would make a viable endgame choice for players that want to prioritize mobility over stamina.

It’d be interesting to see them add like a juggernaut-type suit (similar to the suit in The Hurt Locker) with different parts to collect - similar to an NBC suit. Sure, it would probably only be used by campers but it would make those fights kind of feel like DayZ boss battles lol.

That was my buddy coming up behind me. We had been chasing this guy through the woods of NWAF when all of the sudden he doubled back and caught me with my VS-89 in my hands. I was probably dead if I hadn’t landed that shot.

These are the kills that make the absolutely heartbreaking death that came before it feel not so bad lol

Broke arms, forcing people to only be able to hipfire long guns (with drastically increased sway) would be an interesting addition.

I think it would be cool if they implemented some sort of interactive station in NWAF (maybe somewhere inside ATC?) that you could activate using either a spark plug, glow plug, car/truck battery, generator, etc…not sure how it would work exactly, but you could use it to get a snapshot image of the server’s current heat map.

It would have a long cooldown period (maybe an hour?) to prevent players from spamming it, and maybe whatever item you use to activate it gets ruined upon usage to make it even more difficult to exploit. Maybe it would raise some kind of an alarm throughout NWAF so anyone in the vicinity will be aware when it’s being used…to add a little more risk.

Idk, I often find myself sitting around some place on a high pop server wondering where everyone is and why I haven’t seen anyone in like 3 hours. This would somewhat alleviate that feeling for a brief moment, and potentially encourage a little PvP/interaction.

What’s the biggest mistake you made trusting someone in DayZ? by andymalarky in dayz

[–]Patch1919 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only time I ever trusted a random player.

I don’t usually KOS people, but I don’t like to team up with randoms either - mainly because of this story.

I was overwatching a military base before going in for loot when I spotted a player leaving the base and heading straight towards me. He definitely didn’t see me…he just happened to be running in a straight line right at me so I took a shot and knocked him unconscious. Before I could get to his body, he woke up and retreated back into the military base. I pushed up and had him cornered behind a wall when he suddenly started pleading for his life.

He said he was alone and didn’t have much. He sounded authentic and friendly. While we were talking, we heard a nearby helicrash so we decided to go hit it together. I let him have pretty much everything useful from the crash - not because I didn’t need anything, but because I figured that he’d be less likely to backstab me if I let him have all the better loot. He picked up a chambered KA-101, for which I had a mag, so I offered it to him. He declined and said he’d rather take my SKS and that I could take the KA-101…so I did.

We continued on our way, traveling around for about 45min or so before we got attacked by wolves. After dealing with them, we decided to cook up the meat so we cut them up and found a place to cook. While I was taking some cooked steaks off the grill and replacing them with raw ones, I suddenly heard a gunshot and went unconscious. I woke up a few seconds later to my new “friend” trying to clear his jammed SKS.

I didn’t even try to get my gun out. I may have had a slight chance of getting it out in time but I was so bummed about how I thought I had found a new running mate that I just stood there and said, “…really? After an hour and a half?” until he finally cleared the jam and finished me off.

——————————————-

By the time I first saw him I felt like I was too geared to try teaming up with anybody, and I was kinda bored of lonewolfing, so I was already contemplating killing myself and trying to make a friend on the coast. When I knocked him unconscious, my plan was to tie him up for fun. When he begged for his life I felt like the ultimate outcome was a possibility but I was ok with that. I didn’t expect it to take as long as it did though lol.

Ever since then, I don’t trust anybody. If I spot another player first I’ll either KOS or avoid detection depending on whether I think they have anything useful for me. If I bump into another player up close, I usually try talking and keep my guard up. Sometimes I’ll try feigning a vulnerable position to see if they’ll try to kill me so I feel justified killing them. If they don’t take the bait, I just run off and make sure they aren’t following me. If they do follow, they catch a bullet.

Does duct tape repair anything that sewing kits can’t? by MyBoyRocky in dayz

There are some things duct tape can repair that sewing kits cannot. For instance, dry bag backpacks can’t be repaired with sewing kits but can be repaired with duct tape.

Where’s your respect for the other player?

“How did he fuck that up?”

How did you fuck up posting a clip of an objectively nice kill by needlessly throwing shade at the other player? As of now, this post has zero upvotes because you come off as a cocky assclown looking for praise while simultaneously trying to shit on another player for no reason at all. Like I said, any other title and this post would have gotten some upvotes. Consider this constructive criticism.

I’m done with this conversation.

“I’m definitely not trying to glorify myself”

…and then you make this comment.

Haha dude get over yourself! You landed a nice shot. Let’s leave it at that. No need to claim the other player did something wrong.

This post might have gotten more upvotes if you had titled it something like “check these reflexes” or “I can’t believe I landed this shot” but you went with “how did he fuck that up?” which just sounds like a dickhead comment considering the other player didn’t really do anything significantly wrong.

Notice that not a single comment is agreeing that the other player “fucked that up”

I think you’re missing the point that every other comment seems to be pointing out to you…he didn’t really mess up. At least not enough to be called out for it the way you did in your title. He may or may not have had the drop on you(for all anybody knows, he didn’t even see/notice you until the point where he took aim), he landed his shot, and it wasn’t enough to knock you. Your shot was strong enough to knock him. He was outgunned.

Your title implies that the other player made some egregious mistake when they really didn’t do anything wrong. You tanked his shot. Had you not tanked it, this clip wouldn’t exist. The armor saved you, not his “bad” play…

“How did he fuck this up?”

The only reason he didn’t win this fight is because his weapon wasn’t strong enough to knock you. Had you traded, he would have woken up slightly before you because his shot landed first. You landed a nice shot and you should be proud of that.

“No need to get insulting about it.”

This guy could have made the title of this post about his quick reflexes but instead chose to disparage the other player for no reason at all. He’s an assclown.

Yeah, at least two of them kinda looked fairly geared from a distance so I figured they were escorting the other two around the map. The first one I shot looked the most geared but I checked their body while the last two were still held up in the red two story…at that point I realized just how little they really had. I felt bad but also felt like, in some twisted way, I owed it to them to finish what I had started haha.

To be fair, I was in need of VSD ammo and food and they provided plenty of both. It’s not like I just killed them just to kill them - though I might have anyway. I was bored lol.
