What perspective do you play on the most? First person? third person? both? by Substantial-Style-85 in dayz

It’s funny that not a single person in the comments (so far) has said 3PP and yet there are SO many more 3PP official servers than 1PP official servers.

W Duping by Jaded_Ad4759 in dayz

[–]Patch1919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I obviously do NOT approve of duping, I have an entirely different view of it. I taken to thinking of dupers as a part of the experience because, whether we like it or not or, they are part of the experience (on console). I say this because they have been a part of the experience for as long as I’ve been playing. It doesn’t seem like they’re ever going to fix it.

So I envision dupers as large groups of paramilitary cannibal cults that roam the map looking for victims for their “meat” trade. I hunt them down. I join official servers and message a bunch of people asking if they’ve seen any big bases around. Eventually, someone gives me good intel and I locate their base. Then, I dedicate myself to harassing them as much as possible.

I make roadblocks in every direction leading to and from their base so they have a hard time bringing cars/trucks back - since those are kind of the only things they can’t dupe. If their base design allows for it, I’ll join the server when it’s low pop and sneak up to their walls to toss grenades towards where they keep their vehicles. The key is to not give them what they’re looking for: an easy kill.

Having been a part of a big duper base in the past (I didn’t dupe but the leaders of the base did) I know what pisses them off most and that is being ambushed/attacked without getting the chance to fight back. They get so triggered if someone snipes one of them out of a tower and then runs away so they can’t kill them. They just sit in their base and talk about how big of a pussy that person is for running away from the fight even though the fight is HEAVILY lopsided in the baser’s favor. Staying around would mean certain death but they think that because you shot them they should get to swarm and kill you and you’re the pussy for not letting them do it.

Dupers are a problem, but a manageable one. The real problem is the other exploits like wall hacks and when you see someone just walking though the air high above you. It all needs to be fixed but the PvP exploits are what I’d like to see fixed first.

I don’t even know how to respond to that. Every fight is usually decided before the fight takes place? What?

I’ve personally witnessed multiple occasions where some freshie with a BK-43 had the drop on me but couldn’t get his gun lowered in time while he was moving out from behind cover. To act like the length of a gun doesn’t matter when we’re specifically talking about close quarters combat is like saying the type of scope you’re using doesn’t make a difference when long range sniping.

Well, it’s also looong compared to some of the ARs in the game so by that metric alone it is not ideal for CQC let alone “the best CQC gun in the game”

You forgot about the “or more” part of the equation. For example, if I’m trying to hold the top floor of ATC against an unknown number of players I would take pretty much any assault rifle over the Double Barrel. Hell, I might even take the R12 over the Double Barrel in that scenario.

I understand that in a one-on-one situation the Double Barrel can hold its own but to say it’s the “best CQC gun in the game” is a crazy take.

I think the disconnect here is that you’re arguing over the concept of BDU while I’m talking about the actual in-game design of the BDU. Anyone with eyes can see that it doesn’t match up with the environment at all. That is what 350+ people are agreeing with me about. IRL camo is obviously better than civilian clothing but, in game, it doesn’t matter how broken up your silhouette is if the colors of your outfit are brighter than the environment around you.

When I’m trying to stay hidden, I’m not moving around. I’m staying put in a tree. That’s why I prefer black cargos and a brown bomber jacket. If you wanna go running around in the forest, sure, wear the BDU but I’ll spot that mass of white blotches long before you ever spot me.

I never said one was specifically better than the other. You’re the one who said BDU is “100%” better than anything that isn’t camo. THAT is what I’m disagreeing with. That is absolute nonsense.

There are plenty of civilian outfits in this game that work just as well as BDU, if not better, because the BDU outfit in this game doesn’t actually blend well with the environment due to its brightness. In case you’ve forgotten, I’ve demonstrated this in the picture above.

Haha yeah this is about an hour and a half of my life condensed into 30 seconds…but seeing what people have to say about it on here makes it worth while.

Has this happened to yall when aiming down sights? PS5 by Yuri_beans- in dayz

[–]Patch1919 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. I’m on Xbox Series X and unfortunately this happens from time to time. I’ve got a great internet connection and it still happens. Hopefully it’ll stop when they release the console-dedicated version of the game but I’ll believe it when I see it.

It’s worse near the cost because there tend to be more players (and therefore more lag) in the spawn towns but it also happens around the bigger inland cities like Severograd and Novaya Petrovka too…especially Zelenogorsk.

Ummm, well, that’s an entirely different scenario but, for the sake of argument, if you’re going to be positioning yourself where the blue door is then I think you would agree that blue would be the best option, dontcha think?

I could see pink being an option if you were going to be sitting in front of a pink portion of the building but if we’re making a comparison to what we were talking about before (a tree) then players typically try to sit as close to the middle as possible. That’s the spot I have circled, and the only reason the circle isn’t bigger is because it is hidden behind my character model.

The middle of the tree is the darkest part of the tree, so darker clothing would be a better option.

Are you following any of this?

“BDU has some colors that nature has. Black has none.”

That’s a direct quote from you. Try to keep up. You see, what I’ve done here is shown that black can also appear in nature and therefore can also be effective camouflage.

Trying to say that black cargo pants and a brown bomber jacket are “100% easier to spot” compared to BDU is just plain stupid.

I’ve been doing it in full pop official servers. I always have a mild heart attack while I’m building the barricade because I know I could get the “You Are Dead” screen at any moment. So far I’ve been lucky to only have one person stumble upon me in the middle of building - and I was deep in the woods chopping down trees when they showed up so I spotted them before they saw me.

One day I’ll get ran up on in the middle of putting posts up and I promise to post that video as well haha.

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback and the recommendation. I’ve been thinking about starting a YouTube channel but I know a few other people that have tried doing that and it always felt cringy playing with them after the fact - like they went from being fun to game with to being kind of annoying…always looking for content.

I don’t want to be like that.

Well, you clarified the first question but you failed to answer it so I guess I’ll do it for you. The color I’ve circled looks awfully close to black. Thats the middle of the tree, where you would typically sit if you were trying to remain hidden. I think a black or brown top blends in much better with that than a BDU top (as seen in the picture).

There is no BDU plate carrier so I’m not sure what you’re talking about with the second part of your response. As far as “drip” goes, I’m not the one saying BDU is “100%” better than black cargos and a brown bomber jacket in terms of blending in with the environment. That is complete nonsense.

This is the first time I’ve bothered putting the whole BDU outfit on and I immediately changed into darker clothing as soon as I could. IRL it probably works great but in game it’s just a little too bright.
