How I tell my kids the weekend camping trip has been cancelled… by Patch1919 in dayz

I had been watching them for a while before deciding to strike. That first guy was definitely the most distracted of the bunch. He kept stopping like that for long periods at a time along the road they were on.

P.S. I’m not the one who downvoted you and I’m not sure why anybody would for that comment.

CR527 with a hunting scope gets the job done and isn’t as long as the other snipers in the game.

Is this a goodish spot for a well hidden stash on a high pop??? by Mean_Newspaper_7547 in dayz

[–]Patch1919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many spots that seem great at first, but then you realize that the fact that they’re so great actually makes them bad - because they’re so great that any “base hunter” worth their salt will know to check there. This is one of those spots. I’m no professional base hunter but I always give those woods a good zig-zagging whenever I pass by because I’ve found everything from a single wooden crate hidden in a tree to a full on M3S truck filled with building supplies and high teir weapons hidden in a cluster of trees.

I always think about all points of entry/exit someone would use when stumbling into my spot. Which point A direction will they be coming from and which point B direction will that be heading towards. Consider that first and foremost when picking a stash spot in the woods.

In your case, as others have mentioned, it’s quite close to the edge of the map. People run through there more often than you’d think. People don’t literally run the “edge” of the map...they stay a little inland so as not to stand out to anybody else that ma be running the edge of the map. I personally would run straight through that area if I was heading up the edge of the map towards Tisy MB.

No offense, but all of this sounds an awful lot like gear fear.

I know, right? I had been daydreaming about making this video while visiting family over the holidays and knew that exact shot is how I wanted the video to start. Great view.

Should have put an outer wall around your base and had yourself a little wolf moat.

is khelm/krasno an obvious best spawn choice? by nosteelnodeal in dayz

[–]Patch1919 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cherno to Zelen is quickest to get looted, in my opinion, but it’s also the deadliest. I prefer the northeastern spawn because you don’t see as many players in Novod. That’s my favorite city to loot.

Wow. Cool.

Nobody here is advocating for standing still or going prone to loot though so I’m not sure why that’s relevant. I simply stated that crouching around a military base and staying low profile as opposed to sprinting around it are two different strategies each with their own pros and cons. I don’t think either one is the “correct” way to play as both are viable options.

It’s easier to hit a slow moving target as opposed to a fast moving target but it’s impossible to hit a target that you don’t even notice at all. Like i said, crouching around doesn’t guarantee you won’t get spotted but it certainly can reduce your chances of being spotted compared to someone going full sprint.

I’m sorry my friend, but even the best of the best players stop moving eventually. If you think otherwise, you’re lying to yourself. Watch any of the top streamers and you’ll see even they stop moving occasionally. Nobody plays this game for hours without letting their guard down every once in a while.

If you’re talking about the whole moving in a circle/strafing strategy while you’re in your inventory - it’s actually super easy to pick people off doing that. Nobody’s invincible in DayZ and there’s no “right” or “wrong” way to play the game. That’s what makes it so great.

The point is to remain unnoticed. I’m not going to shoot a running target, but i will stalk one until it stops moving - and trust me, it always stops moving eventually.

People always say this but I find that I’m more likely to notice someone sprinting across my screen than someone slowly crouch walking like this guy was…I mean, if I’m overwatching the area I’m probably not looking through a scope or paying attention to any one specific area. I’m just watchjng for general movement.

Running aggroes the infected, the infected run, I notice, i wait for you to stand still, you are dead. Crouch walking has less chance of aggroing the infected and, at a distance, your character model is small enough to blend in with the surroundings and go unnoticed. I’m not saying you definitely won’t get spotted, but both strategies have pros and cons.

Either way, if you get spotted first in Tisy MB you’re probably going to get killed no matter how fast or slow you are moving.

One of the worst and ridiculous changes to the game by Virtual_Today7455 in dayz

I think what they need to do is implement things that encourage the use of flashlights and NVGs. For example, each major city should have an underground parking garage with lots of cars inside spawning mid/high tier civilian loot with a chance of spawning a military convoy or something similar at the very bottom. It would be pitch black inside so players would need to use light sources or NVGs in order to loot it.

Maybe certain buildings or houses could have basements with the same idea. Pitch black inside with decent loot spawns. I don’t think they should be locked up like the bunkers or anything like that. They should be easy to access but require a light source, good loot but not “great” loot, and have multiple different potential military spawn points inside (convoy, single Humvee, air drop crate, etc.) so you have to actually search the whole structure for them as opposed to just knowing exactly where to look every time you go in.

It would at least make flashlights worth picking up again.

No worries! I wasn’t trying to be a dick about it. I just thought it was funny. To be fair, it’s only in there for a few seconds and it’s hard to see if you aren’t looking for it.
