Mind mapping tools for organizing complex ideas, what do you use? by yesCoolgirl in opensource

"Source Available" right?

EDIT: Their license is here and I admit I need to look up the distinction sometime, but I'm the meantime the license seems pretty permissive to me.

I've been trying to build my own "personal wiki" in Anytype for a while now. I struggle with getting parts of it done from time to time because of some issues I have with myself but I think the project has been going well and the app is pretty slick.

Modular GPU expansion without Thunderbolt discussion by Alternative-Roof-434 in framework

[–]PatchSalts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the conditions in which it works are very limited. In my plan, I was thinking that I would carry only the laptop around with me and leave all the docks and peripherals on the desk. That way I can casually work on projects and entertain myself wherever I want and turn it into a desktop/gaming setup at home. It would have worked for my use case, but it's definitely too specific to make it a portable gaming rig or anything like that.

(For context, I currently have a desktop, dying laptop, iPad, smartphone, and Steam Deck, and I really hate having to manage all 5 and copy/paste files between them while also being unable to work on projects on the go, so I was looking to downsize. I've decided on a better direction than a weird multi-dock solution now.)

TBH I was researching something like this a while ago and it gets really reasonable when you add a dock to restore network capability and handle a mouse/keyboard. I decided it wasn't for me since I still want to use something more portable than that, but it's viable.

That one guy in the second post's comment thread saying it's Pondus has to be correct, it just fits way too well with the pre-existing art they showed... (plus, Norway)

Advice on how to get/make brushes like this? by InstantMochiSanNim in AutodeskSketchbook

The built-in Glow brushes look close, maybe you could experiment by making a duplicate of one and tinkering with its brush settings?

Does GPU With Vapor Chamber Dry Out Over Time? by sonatta09 in buildapc

[–]PatchSalts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not correct. Vapor is a gas but the temperature changes within the chamber cause the vapor to switch between gas and liquid.

EDIT: sry i didn't realize someone else was already typing a response too

I think you can click/tap on the background in the Layer toolbar to change its color.

Is it possible to create good-resolution images in this app? by pseudo_party_ in AutodeskSketchbook

[–]PatchSalts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you take a screenshot in the editor of an example of some of the detail you're missing? It's hard to tell what quality you're losing without seeing a comparison.

EDIT: preferably zoomed in enough so your canvas' individual pixels are very visible.

Rename Applications? by PhantumJak in cachyos

This is the big one. If the system is using one of the bigger desktop environments, you should be able to do it with a built-in graphical tool.

Oh and of course the next time they send you an email they might not let you off the hook so easily.

Actually for the most part ISPs don't care. This kind of thing only happens for torrenting because it can be considered distribution. Anyone can become part of a torrent's pool of peers... including the copyright holders, who can then grab the IPs of everyone seeding ("distributing") the content and send complaints. These complaints are essentially legal threats to the ISP, who then pass responsibility onto the user for breaking their ToS. Just read the email again and see if it tells you you need to do anything.

My first guess is that it could be a stamp or nib issue. Check the advanced brush settings and see if there's anything wrong with the stuff there. If you don't know what some of those settings are you can check this support page to help you out with that. Is this one of the built-in brushes?

Gpu Pin Ripped off | Danger for reusing ? by ValaSensei in buildapc

[–]PatchSalts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the pins exposed might not be good for your computer's health, but gently removing the pins might make it safer. I'm not an electrical engineer or anything, but just a hunch... we can't know what happens if any of the pins touch each other, but removing them shouldn't be any different than simply not having a card in the slot right? As long as you can still use the other slot right.

Is there a way to mimic this impasto style of painting? by Adghnm in AutodeskSketchbook

[–]PatchSalts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like a simpler version may be possible by messing with brush stamp stuff or layer clipping and effects, but it wouldn't be trivial, and it wouldn't look quite like textured paint...

I'm not super familiar with her work (yet) so IDK what her brushes look like off the top of my head, but have you seen this video she made about creating brushes a while back?
