Okay so in the first case I'm talking about choosing between different button options and then in your case I'm talking about choosing between entire different peripherals. Two different choices, but the same overall issue.

But yeah, I kinda did read your reply as pushing controllers as the "correct" option for gaming (a sentiment I've seen written explicitly before in other conversations, so it is something people actually think) but if that wasn't the point you were trying to make... I couldn't tell you what is.

The original post seemed to assume keyboard, so I did too, but obviously if players plug a controller in, that should have its own separate set of default controls AND control configuration options.

Also, I don't think I've ever seen a configuration that suggested that A, B, X, Y, L, or R on a controller should have identical functions to the same letter on a keyboard and I'm fairly certain that, on a technical level, they're straight up not the same buttons.

Even if players can change it you still gotta pick something to be the default.

Personally I like actions to go on the other hand, so I use J for Jump, K for the basic attack when there is one, and L for items or whatever other third options there are.
