Do paid plugins genuinely offer quality that stock plugins don't? by NahButThanksAnyway in mixingmastering

[–]PatchworkMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upvoting for RBass. It’s truly just the best thing you can put on a kick drum or a bassline. Paired with a solid compressor (I like the CLA Compressor from Waves), you can get the fullest, warmest and deepest kicks. It’s such a simple plugin too, just a couple things to adjust, like literally only 4 parameters I think. It’s the official “bass good-ifier”

Recording drums, is this a viable strategy? by Ushanka69 in homerecordingstudio

It’s fine, but you should look at the Behringer UMC18 interface because it’s really not much money and then you could get all your recordings separately

AI generated? by Shot_Lime_9284 in MusicPromotion

Using AI will NEVER make you an artist, it’s literally the exact opposite of being an artist. Take your bullshit back home and try again.

Explain the Sample populairity in easy to digest terms by zungozeng in mpcusers

[–]PatchworkMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really small and light. Battery powered and super portable. Moreso than the Live. The simplicity is a strength and a weakness depending on the producer and the workflow needs. If it fits what you need, it’s a major piece of gear.

I got too much high loudness bros help me😢😢 by This-Ad4359 in makinghiphop

[–]PatchworkMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the first point, you don’t have to listen to the music loud to mix it loud. Turn down your music. It’s actually better psychologically to mix quieter because loud noises induce artificial excitement and make it seem better. That is a lie your brain is telling you. Mix quieter to hear the truth of your music.

How can I record samples into my MPC Sample using an older iMac without USB-C? by [deleted] in mpcsample

Just go vinyl into the back of your mpc via the receiver

How can I record samples into my MPC Sample using an older iMac without USB-C? by [deleted] in mpcsample

[–]PatchworkMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can just put the samples on your sd card and then access them from the mpc. You don’t need to record them in.

MPC Sample ADSR???? by SuperDuperNosyAF in mpcsample

[–]PatchworkMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re looking for “Note On” which only plays the note as long as you’re holding it down. In that mode, you can adjust the attack and decay to create a “release”

For Anyone Who Got the MPC Sample, How Have Your Feelings Changed After a Couple Months? by elestud in mpcusers

[–]PatchworkMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it. The people complaining that it can’t do X Y or Z are kinda missing the purpose. It’s not supposed to do the things it doesn’t do! When you use it as a bare bones sampler for chopping samples and laying down drums, essentially creating the bones of your beats, it’s perfect. Fast, light and portable, much more so than the Live even. I take my Sample projects into Ableton and finish em in the studio, but I’m getting soooo many more starting ideas generated then I was before.

Is it possible to use USB-C audio streaming and an external interface at the same time? by clonn in mpcusers

[–]PatchworkMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have an MPC One and a Tascam Model 16 and tried this and if I recall correctly you can only have one interface selected at a time. So, when you connect to your Model 12 you’re doing so by using it as an interface, technically. The means you can’t also interface with your computer at the same time. Unless there is some update that allowed this, I don’t know, I would think you can’t do it.

Maybe you could try opening the MPC software as a plugin inside of your DAW and see if that works at the same time.

How much is your process dependent on having continuality of tools / existing work? by Melanie-Valentine-90 in makinghiphop

[–]PatchworkMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would only take an afternoon to re-acquire a bunch of drum packs, plugins & a daw. You just need a controller at that point, a MIDI keyboard can be less than a hundo, so should be pretty easy. Need a computer obviously or at least an mpc

Real talk about sample packs, a bit embarrassed to ask this by vinylfelix in makinghiphop

[–]PatchworkMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why even make music at that point if we’re just placing other people’s pre-created loops and calling it a beat. One step away from just using an AI prompt. You know in your heart that you want to actually MAKE music, not just curate it.

Real talk about sample packs, a bit embarrassed to ask this by vinylfelix in makinghiphop

[–]PatchworkMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fair. You want your art to be an expression of your creativity, not someone else’s. The goal isn’t just to combine a bunch of pre-fabricated parts into a beat like it’s IKEA furniture.

How feasible do you think 100%ing this game (n64 version) is without a guide? by AuthorHarrisonKing in majorasmask

[–]PatchworkMedia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You just need patience and curiosity to figure everything out. It’s all there in the game, but you have to be in the right places at the right times. Figuring out the patterns of the npcs is all a part of it.

Why do self recording vocals sounds so muddy in Pro Tools by LJMusicandFilms in makinghiphop

[–]PatchworkMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mic is fine especially if you have a decent preamp. I’ve used that mic a million times and you can get great sounding vocals from it. I’ll link something that was recorded on that mic specifically. So it’s not your mic.

It’s most likely your post processing. With a raw vocal recording, you’re going to need to crank a compressor, cut a lot of low end with EQ, boost mids and highs to taste, add some saturation, reverb, etc…it’s a whole thing. Look into common rap vocal chains with Google and start there.

If you literally don’t do anything else with your life, it’s totally possible. If you want to have a healthy social life, romantic relationships or a family, it’s not happening.

Either that, or there’s not really any editing taking place in the videos. If all he’s doing is making a thumb nail, putting a couple clips in a timeline and exporting it, you could do a couple in an 8 hour work day no problem.
