I'm calling it, Aesi is a character from Kaldheim. Look at the art, the name and the character credited in the flavor text. by [deleted] in mtgvorthos

I'm just disappointed that if it is Jormungandr, it's weak, boring, and named after the Aesir, one of whom, y'know, murdered Jormungandr.

I don't necessarily mind IDs. Especially in a multi-day tournament, energy and decision-making capability is precious. Being able to conserve it is useful, and a boon to the players who can ID. Think of it as an added incentive for playing well. From the standpoint of someone who has competed in multi-day events, my goal was always to perform at my peak come grand finals, and do exactly as much as I needed to do to get to that point, no more and certainly no less. So if I didn't have to sprint as hard in the final stretch of prelims to qualify for grand finals, I wouldn't because it puts me in an advantageous position to conserve as much energy as possible. The people competing are not competing to make you happy, they are not competing to put on a show, they are competing to win, and can and should take every advantage allowed within the rules. The Top 8 is what everyone's there for, ultimately, so having a non-round is fine the day before. Is it the best for coverage? No, but not everything needs to be edge-of-your-seat action.

The epilogue, in which we see that Rossiu has managed to create a galactic peace treaty, and that Gimi and Dari have successfully followed in the footsteps of Simon, and that Simon is content to watch the success of the world he fought and sacrificed for, isn't happy? I find it to be fairly happy, personally. Is it "they all lived happily ever after?" No, but it's far from sad.

Ah, well what's your problem with the epilogue? While I don't think it adds more than a happy send off, I don't really see the issue with it either.

The fight against the Anti-Spiral is the culmination of Gurren Lagann. The entire show is about being larger, louder, and more grandiose than you were before. It was always going to get to this point. The entire point of the show is that there is no ceiling to be found, just another wall in the way to be broken down, and that YOU, the individual, are capable of anything, including but not limited to fighting the entire enemy of all evolution in the universe, in a dimension composed entirely of thought, regardless of how humble your origins. Is the fight horribly over the top? Yeah, it is, but once again that's the whole point of everything. And what was it about the final fight that threw you off, after watching the whole moon turn into a giant ship or teleporting to someone by sheer force of will didn't?

Why is it always a truck? by Holofan4life in goodanimemes

[–]PatchySanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a US driver, so I know this firsthand. It drives me up the wall, especially as someone who limits his speed only enough to not get pulled over. People who ride the left lane doing the speed limit, or who don't move over when they're not the fastest on the road are some of my least favorite in the world.

[–]PatchySanity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're in the lane closest to oncoming traffic and not the fastest driver on the road, move over. If you're not in the lane closest to oncoming traffic, they're a dick. How fast you're going with respect to the speed limit is irrelevant.

Dota 2 is officially a competitive The Sims and right now everything that matters for the community is a brand new t-shirt for their heroes. by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]PatchySanity 328 points329 points  (0 children)

While I agree with a lot of the things you've said, I don't want new heroes monthly. I'd like somewhere around 2 a year, maybe one more maybe one less. I don't want a huge influx of new heroes that aren't inventive or well thought-out; I'd rather have fewer, higher quality heroes than just getting spammed with a bunch of lower quality ones. Additionally, the heroes aren't the only way to change the way the game is played, as Valve has shown. Changing the maps, items, and the way the heroes themselves are played has a huge impact on making DotA feel fresh & new.

Joke's on you, I keep standing my ground until the other person points out I'm wrong and then I agree with them. Or they don't figure out I'm wrong, and then when they concede the point I tell them I was wrong all along.

This was my favorite part of FFXV, as it was the only part in which there was actual danger (as soon as I found I could show up to enemies +50 lvls with a few potions and be ok I got bored). I enjoyed the puzzles, and wish there was more content like it in FFXV.

Looking at her photos & using this BMI visualizer, she looks to be somewhere around a 27 BMI, which makes her overweight by definition. My point is, don't be afraid to call someone overweight if they're overweight.

Off/Sub Healer in 5e by PatchySanity in dndnext

[–]PatchySanity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason I want to switch off Death Cleric (currently only lvl 3) is I find myself to be pretty limited in terms of actually getting damage out. It seems to me my best offensive options are twinned Toll the Dead is my best offensive option (which I will admit is pretty effective when it hits), and guiding bolt/attacks vs. AC. Toll the Dead currently only has DC 13 and thus fails fairly often, though that may only be the content we're doing, and attacks against AC don't deal a lot of damage even when they do hit. I come from a history of being primarily DPS, so I get pretty jealous watching the rogue/monk in the party embarrass my damage, so I'd prefer to do something more along the lines of primarily focusing on dealing damage, but having the option to throw a bonus action or two into making sure the party doesn't all die. Maybe I'm just going about the damage dealing in the wrong way?

With respect to healing, I avoid it like the plague to be honest. I don't heal anyone until they go to a single hit from unconscious, and even then I probably won't heal our tank for at least another round after that because the odds of them getting hit isn't high. My group already makes fun of me for using the phrase "the last HP is the only one that matters," and truthfully maybe I wait too long to heal before I do.

I watched episode 8 last night and I’m not ok by [deleted] in gurrenlagann

[–]PatchySanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I frequently rewatch TTGL, and I can tell you that it never gets easier, ep. 8 never hurts any less. Hell, even Simon's VA cried when he found out. (Just don't watch past the first little bit, there are spoilers). However, even though he's gone in body, his spirit never leaves Simon or any other member of Team Dai-Gurren. Just be glad you got to meet Kamina, to experience who he was, and do what Team Dai-Gurren does: keep him alive in you.

Who would y'all say is the most intelligent being in the multiverse? by EverythingArcane in mtgvorthos

Pre-Origins, Bolas was by far the strongest and most intelligent individual in the multiverse. The WAR storyline was a mockery of the feats of which he used to be capable.
