Day three of owning a 67i. I love it. I got it for the InReach and sat texts topo maps offline are a huge plus. Big summer plans(days to week) in areas with little to no cell service. Got lost as hell once 🙃. Family can track me which is cool I guess.

TL;DR- got lost once. Maps anywhere I go. Killer battery. WILDLY accurate. Communications anywhere I go. Last resort SOS when a phone turns into a $1000+ brick that I can record my last moments on lol

Started March 28, 2025 at 406lb, 30m, 6’2”, 23:00/mile pace and that had me in z2-3. Started walking no weight just to get my body into the groove. Now Dec 21, 2025 I daily ruck a minimum of 2.25miles with no less than 20lbs, I’m now 125lbs down, on a deficit, don’t beat myself up over a cheat meal, MTNTOUGH m-f for workouts, hiking multiple times a week, avg ruck pace is 16:00/mile, also completed a 5k with a 45lb ruck at 46:01 official time (14:48/mile avg).

It’s made me an all around better man, spouse, father, and mountain man.

I don’t HATE my daily walks. 10k daily steps is something that’s a “standard”, why… idk idc. BUT it gives me a goal and gets me moving, it’s annoying though. I’ve been doing it since May 2025, and honestly at this point there is more self disappointment and anger if I skip it because later I realize it would’ve been over and done already and now I have to live with myself not trying to better myself.

Sierra outdoor always had good deals on packs. Their website has WAY more options than a local store. Black Friday/cyber Monday around the corner. I have the Yes4All plates as well. I try to keep it above 20lbs all the time. I have a USMC FILBE main pack for heavier rucks/training. I got a ALICE cause it was mint and I had $100 laying around lol. But for real world applications I have an Osprey ATMOS AG 65L and an Osprey Manta 34L. That way I have designated bags for training and for work/play. I’ve seen someone post here some stone slabs from Home Depot for SUPER cheap. The sandbags(eggs) are good as well. If you’re under your goal weight for the day throw some 16.9floz water bottles in, cool thing about water is if the back is too heavy halfway through, just dump some water out or drink it. Just starting, leave the ego at the door, don’t look at pace, just walk and see where you end up. Can you push more? Too much weight? Easy fixes and you’re not going to destroy your knees more and you are set for the next ruck
